Work Text:
You trudged through the heavy white snow. It has been practically a blizzard the night before. This was the perfect weather for staying inside with a warm cup of hot chocolate, maybe reading a good book or two. Instead you were out in the cold. You wouldn't do this for just anyone, but Choromatsu had asked you to come over, and you could never say no to your adorable boyfriend.
You approached the Matsuno household. It was covered in snow, but someone, probably Karamatsu, had shoveled the front entrance. That was a relief. You walked over and knocked on the door.
After you waited outside for a moment, Choromatsu opened the door. With how quickly he answered, you wondered if he had been waiting in the entrance for you. He had a smile on his face, but he had dark circles under his eyes. Maybe he hadn't slept well? Choromatsu didn't really like the cold, and the weather had been bitterly cold lately. You hoped he was getting the proper amount of sleep, and not staying awake all night shivering. He yawned as he greeted you. “Hurry inside, it's cold.”
You walked past him, shivering as you took your boots off. Choromatsu took your coat for you. You were glad you decided to wear a fluffy and warm sweater today. Even inside it was a bit chilly. “How are you today, Choromatsu-kun?”
“Sleepy…” He mumbled, rubbing his eyes. “How about you?”
“I'm good, just a little chilly.” You wrapped your arms around yourself as Choromatsu led you into the living room.
“I'm sorry you had to walk in the snow. I just really wanted to see you today.” Choromatsu walked over to the kotatsu, snuggling underneath it.
“Oh yeah? You missed me that much?” You smiled slyly, sitting down next to him.
“Well I always miss you, but today is special. Do you know what today is?”
You looked over at the calendar, trying to recall if today was something special. Nothing came to mind so you replied, “March fourteenth?”
“Yeah, it's White Day!” Choromatsu gave a small smile. “I made you some chocolates because you gave me some on Valentine's day.”
Your eyes went wide. You had forgotten about White Day. “That's really sweet, you didn't have to do that!”
“Yeah I did! It's our one month anniversary too, so I really wanted to make something special for you.” Choromatsu snuck his hand under the table until it was holding yours, and squeezed tight. You felt a blush coming to your face.
“I'm really happy Choromatsu-kun, thank you!”
“You haven't even tried my chocolates yet! I hope, I hope you like them.” Choromatsu gulped, letting go of your hand. “Let me go get them.”
Choromatsu stood up and hurried out of the room. You noticed how quiet the house was. It seemed like no one else was home. You wondered if he had chased his brothers out of the house for some alone time with you. He returned after just a moment with a box wrapped in green. He handed them to you, not even making eye contact, his face bright red. “Um, here you go, I hope they taste okay.”
You were sure they would be delicious, not that it mattered, you were just pleased that he had made them for you. You carefully unwrapped the box and opened it up. Inside were chocolates in the shape of roses, made with white chocolate. “Oh, pretty!”
“Well, you remind me of flowers,” Choromatsu gulped down, his face going even more red, if that was possible. “When you are around, it always feels like a warm summer day.”
You tilted your head, looking at him. Your boyfriend didn't normally say such sappy things. “Karamatsu-kun?”
Choromatsu laughed. “No, no. It's me. And I really mean it. You bring so much light into my life.”
You felt yourself blushing again, you didn't think you could even feel this happy. “Oh Choromatsu-kun, that's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.”
Choromatsu laughed nervously. “I was just speaking the truth.” He made eye contact with you, smiling meekly.
You smiled back. Choromatsu really made you so happy. You almost didn't want to eat the chocolates he had so lovingly prepared, but at the same time you really wanted to taste them! You popped one in your mouth, letting it melt on your tongue. It was so sweet and delicious, melting instantly in your mouth. “These are amazing!”
“Ah, thank you.” Choromatsu smiled, but ended up yawning again in the middle of it.
“Hey, did you perhaps stay up all night making these for me?” You asked. You remembered back to Valentine's Day, when you had done something similar for him.
“Maybe?” He chuckled. “I wanted them to be perfect for you.”
“My silly boyfriend. I'm happy, but you didn't have to do that.” You scooted back, and patted your lap. “Do you want to take a nap?”
“On your lap?” You found it amusing how high and squeaky his voice got.
“Yup! It's pretty comfy.” You patted your lap again, trying to lure him over.
“Oh, okay.” Choromatsu gently laid his head down on your lap. You grinned down at him as he closed his tired eyes.
“See, comfy. You can take a nice nap.”
“Mmm,” Choromatsu said, punctuated with a yawn.
You brushed your fingers through his hair, “My cute sleepy boy.”
He laughed a little at that, a half asleep laugh that was truly adorable. “You are really warm,” he half mumbled.
You giggled a bit. You felt warm inside when you thought about how blessed you were to have such a wonderful boyfriend. You hummed a little song to yourself, stroking his hair as he fell into slumber. Despite the cold weather outside, you felt warmth from the love in your heart.
Choromatsu’s breathing became more even as he napped. You admired how cute he looked, even while sleeping. Although you were sure he couldn't hear, you still whispered down at him, “I love you, Choromatsu-kun.”
