Reading with Choromatsu

Summary:

You go on a date with Choromatsu to buy and read some books together.

Work Text:

Choromatsu looked over the books on the shelves thoughtfully. The intense look on his face as he scanned the titles, occasionally pausing to pick up a book, was simply adorable. He was very serious about which light novels he read, which you could relate to. You could be pretty picky in your own regards.

“Did you find a book yet?” Choromatsu asked you as he thumbed through the pages of some cutesy looking story.

You had completely forgotten! You had been so caught up in how cute Choromatsu looked you hadn't even started you own search yet. That was so embarrassing, you felt a light blush on your cheeks. You shook your head. “I haven't decided yet.”

Choromatsu frowned, but not really in anger, more in frustration. “I can't decide either. There are too many to pick from.” He held two books in front of him, weighing them in his hands. “I think I want one of these two though.”

“You can always get both.” You laughed.

“I could, but then where will it end? I'll end up buying the whole book store! I need to make a rational, well thought out decision.”

You giggled again. Oh no, it was analytical Choromatsu! You better escape before he starts counting words to see which book was more worth his money. “I'm going to look over there.”

“Alright.” Choromatsu went back to carefully studying the books in his hands. You went on your own book quest and eventually found something that suited your interests. Choromatsu was still pouring over his books.

“Really, it's okay to get two books, just this once.” You patted his shoulder. Besides, knowing him he would read through one quickly, end up in tears for ten minutes, then want to start reading something else.

“If you say so.” Choromatsu got a happy look on his face. “I'm so excited to read these with you!”

You were excited too. You had a brilliant plan of making a pillow fort and reading together. It would be so cozy and nice you could hardly wait to start. Of course you had to pay for your books first!

You both bought your books and headed back to your apartment. It wasn't anything spacious, but it was comfy enough. The living room and kitchen formed one sort of big living space, while you had a smaller room to the side for sleeping. Since you wanted to read today, it was a better idea to come to your place rather than Choromatsu's house. Not that you didn't love his brothers, but they could be pretty rowdy! Today was a calm day.

Once inside you and Choromatsu got to work constructing a pillow fort to read in. You stacked up pillows, laid out sheets and blankets, until you made the perfect cozy den for reading. It even looked pretty cute. It was a tight fit so you might have to cuddle up a little close to your boyfriend, you thought deviously. You totally hadn't done that on purpose.

You made some tea and cuddled down next to Choromatsu, ready to start reading. He grinned at you as he stretched out, lying on his belly with you next to him. You cracked open your book, ready to start whatever adventure your story would take you on. You turned the pages, your eyes going over each word, taking sips of your tea. It was so warm and cozy in here. This was exceedingly nice.

You looked over at Choromatsu for a moment as he read, seeing the flashes of emotions that crossed his face as different scenes played out before him. Maybe you would have to borrow that book when he was done, he seemed really into it.

Choromatsu’s eyes flickered over to you. He grinned for a moment. Oh no! He had totally caught you staring at him again. You blushed again, laughing nervously.

“Are you enjoying your book?” He asked.

“Yeah.” You look back towards your book, your heart suddenly racing. Why did Choromatsu have to be so cute! He was totally distracting you! Not that you would have it any other way.

“You know,” Choromatsu placed his book down, stretching out his arms. “It's so comfortable in here. I'm feeling kinda sleepy.”

Choromatsu yawned and you found yourself yawning too. Maybe you were a little sleepy.

Choromatsu flipped over onto his back. “Why don't we take a little nap?”

That sounded nice. “Okay.” You put your own book down, flipping over and cuddling closer to him, resting one arm around his chest. He put an arm around you as you placed your head on his shoulder. A warm feeling filled your heart as he gently stroked your hair. You hummed happily to yourself.

Even when the whole world felt stressful, Choromatsu was always there to make you feel at peace again. Your eyes closed as you felt him breathing next to you in a calm steady rhythm. Nothing could be better than cuddling up to the person you loved the most. Choromatsu placed a kiss on top of your head, and you felt content. Sleep washed over you as you held onto him.

This was the best feeling in the world, and you couldn't be happier.
