Chapter Text
Gold foot really couldn’t blame Gold Arm for being so upset, they were all upset. But Gold Arm was most of all. Not two days free from Dark’s hold, and they were already short on fuel. Gold foot really wasn’t surprised by the outcome of all their hard earned gold being cut off from them. The account after all had belonged to Dark. It was not a big stretch of the imagination, they had been ‘retired’, escaped the said ‘retirement’ and thus escaped Dark; of course they wouldn’t have access to the gold they had earned through the years.
But Gold Arm was the eldest, and the idea of being unable to provide for his younger brothers– (foolish really, they were all capable of taking care of themselves….) - had him in a foul and depressed mood. Gold Arm had never thought to withdraw the funds through out their career and stash them some place, why would they think to do so? It wasn’t till two days ago they realized how fucked up owner was…. ex owner.
Still, it was a disgraceful sight to see Gold Arm pacing like he was, trying to think of what to do…. and Mask was on that dumb tablet again. It had been a parting gift from the Silver Castle’s mechanic. The device had been given to Mask to play with as a distraction while he and Aniki had been in repairs, and simply been allowed to keep it. Foot felt his eye twitched as Aniki passed in front of him again, muttering darkly with an edge in his voice.
They were on the other side of the country, with no means to feed themselves currently, with every team on strict orders to beat the scrap out of them with the intent to offline, or refuse them aid. They had no team, no home, no fuel, and had a massive target on their backs. But they had their freedom.. their right to choose. Foot felt his face relax a little, there was still plenty to worry about, but they were free. They were leaving the country tonight on a freighter…. unbeknownst to the crew of course. It would be harder for them to be tracked, and Dark had much less influence outside of the country. They still had a considerable amount, but not the overwhelming presents as it was here.
Still though, if Aniki didn’t stop pacing and muttering to himself soon, Foot was going to maul him, they were in this together, they could all figure something out…. and Mask was STILL ON THAT TABLET. Foot growled. “Oi Mask! What the frackin’ hell are you doing?” He hissed quietly. “Aniki is over there having a mental breakdown, we are leaving in less than three hours, and you are just sitting there playing on that stupid-”
“I’m not playing.” Mask said offhandedly, eyes never leaving the screen. As if he was ignoring him. Dismissing him. Foot felt his plating bristle. “No?! What are you doing then!” He spat. He was tempted to tear the thing out of Mask’s hands when he wasn’t answered right away. Raising his hands up to snatch it away. Gold Foot snarled “You!”
He snapped his mouth shut when Mask tilted the screen for Foot to see. Gold Foot stared at the screen. That was a lot of zeros…. “Mask!” He hissed in alarm. “What are you doing?!” “Shhhh!!” Mask shushed him. The page for Dark’s accounts were on the screen, Mask was currently hacking the suspended account, while taking a nice chunk of gold from various other accounts across the company, to prevent intimidate detection, and it was all being funneled into a new account under…. Gold foot didn’t know the name.
“Whose name is that?” Gold foot pointed at the account Mask was funneling into. Mask thinned his lips in a feral sort of vindictive way. “The buyer that was set up to buy us after we were reformatted.” Mask admitted.
Gold Foot reared back hard enough to smack his hard head on the concert wall of one of the storage buildings they were hiding behind. Gold Arm startled from his brooding at the end of the alley way. “What’s wrong?” Arm hissed softly having practically materialized next to them. Mask muttered an explanation, and Gold Arm too, reared away in revulsion.
Gold Mask felt his lips curl in a wide toothy grin, his eyes shining with a mirth born of pure hatred. “No doubt this Mr. Million was quite upset to not receive what he paid for… I am sure he would make his displeasure well known… stealing from the biggest dealer in the world…. such a shame. Of course he will be made aware of…other buyers that had expressed interest and promises…” Gold Arm stared at his littlest brother with a new found wonder and dread. “Mask…?” Gold Arm knelt down next to the other baseball leaguer. Gold Foot scrambling away to make room for their Aniki. Mask lifted his eyes to look at Gold Arm who looked at him in worry.
The determination and thirst for justice, in whatever means burned back from the softer shade of blue eyes. Arm stared back, and Mask slowly smiled at him. Arm was stricken once again. They hadn’t recognized Gold Mask when they were war sick, but Mask hadn’t given up on them, and now he making sure vengeance was theirs. Escaping wasn’t enough. Mask wanted them to burn right where it hurt the most. Their connections. With this kind of scandal, Dark would lose an obviously big buyer, but Dark wouldn’t trust them again either, or be trusted by other buyers.
Arm knew now, their young brother had grown up, he wasn’t their little baby brother anymore. He was just as dangerous, in his own way. Arm grinned back at Mask. “Just make sure to secure a nice chunk for us, mmm?” Mask’s eyes lit up with delight at his Aniki’s approval. Foot stared at the two with hopeful itch in his plates. They all shared a look, their lips curled in the same disgusted gleeful grin.
Foot cackled and grabbed Mask in a side head lock and rubbed his helm playfully. “Geez, brat, I’m glad you are on our side.” Foot released him when Mask protested and slapped at him. He still had work to finish. Foot supposed Mask being on that tablet so damn much wasn’t such a bad thing. He and Aniki agreed as they watched Mask work to take a nice chunk out of Girochi’s rotten hide.
