Work Text:

You know I want you

It’s not a secret I try to hide

I know you want me

So don’t keep saying our hands are tied

Izuku slowly wakes up to warm of the sunlight peeking on his window. Judging on the warm of the sunlight, it could already be around 8 o’clock in the morning. So late, he thought. Then he remembered that today is his day-off, so he should not feel guilty waking up this late. No one’s going to get angry if he won’t get out of bed right now. A hand rubbing in his stomach jolted him out of his thoughts.

“You could really do a living being an alarm clock, nerd” said the husky voice behind his neck. Izuku almost forgot that he wasn’t alone in his bed, and also didn’t realize he was already mumbling. The source of the voice then proceeds to kiss the back of his neck which sends electricity throughout his body.

“And you could do a living being a heater Kacchan, making the room hot just by talking with that husky voice of yours.” Izuku replied, smirking while turning to face the other person in his bed. He felt bold and embarrassed saying that early in the morning but seeing the other man blushed all the way his ears makes it all worth it.

It took a few seconds for Kacchan to recover from the blushing. He then tightens his embrace on the source of his welcomed misery at the moment. “You’re getting good at flirting, huh?” he challenged.

“I learned from the best” Izuku quipped. The blonde in front of him tries to laugh but was stopped by the soft lips pressed to his.

The kiss was sweet at first, both of them tries to tease the other then slowly turns into a heated one. Izuku feels like his drowning in bliss. It’s okay though, if this kiss is going to kill me, I’m going to die doing what I love.He sees himself smilling through the kiss.

The kiss felt like it lasted a hundred years but Izuku feels it wasn’t enough. His happy thoughts were cut out when Kacchan broke it off.

“Don’t temp me Deku. Unlike you, I have a workshop to facilitate.” Kacchan grimly said like he wished it wasn’t true. Izuku can’t blame him, he himself also wished that the said workshop didn’t coincide with his day-off. The workshop is about teaching grade school students with explosive or similar quirks how to use it as self-defence with minimal damage to themselves, the surroundings, and the target. And of course, who would be the better main facilitator than the best explosive hero in Japan? Izuku just finished this kind of workshop himself last week, though he enjoys interacting with kids with augmented type quirks, it was draining as well. But now he also wants to go to the said workshop. He is sure Kacchan looks cool teaching kids how to use their quirks. No matter what the media says about him, Izuku knows that Kacchan is natural at swooning kids. He’s one of the victims after all.

Izuku’s thought was cut by a hand violently placed on his face.

“Don’t you ever dare go to that damn workshop Deku” Kacchan warned. Yeah right, Izuku must be thinking aloud again. Izuku just smiled in reply, even if it’s a struggle because of the hand that is still on his face.

When Kacchan was satisfied that the nerd will not go on with his plan on tagging along on the workshop, he removed his hand and frowned on the saliva on his palm. The stupid nerd kissed his palm, wetly. He retaliates though by rubbing his violated palm in the bare, exposed arm of the criminal.

“H-HEY!” Izuku protested in disgust. Kacchan just presented his victory smirk, in ordinary human’s standard, in return. But in Izuku’s standard it is a beautiful smile, the kind he wants to capture and framed and set as a family heirloom. Not fair, Izuku protested again, silently or not, he’s not sure, because the given smirk/smile grew wider.

After a long pause, the blonde concluded that it’s getting late and he has to get going and prepare for the workshop.

“Kacchan don’t leave yet, let me make you breakfast first” Izuku pleaded on the blonde who’s meticulously collecting his discarded clothes on the floor.

“and risked being poisoned? No thanks” the blonde replied. Izuku pouted at that, though he admits on purposely looking cute, a wishful thinking that it might help him on his request.

“And soon those tag-along fuckers will pester the surroundings, I don’t want to hear another unnecessary rumor about us again”, Kacchan grumpily added.

Yeah right, the paparazzies. But Izuku’s thoughts were pinned on that one word: us. What exactly are they anyway? Any spectator would easily say they were “Friends with Benefits” but he secretly hopes it was more than that. They never really had a talked about it exactly, so anything in on the table.

“Okay fine, have a great day Kacchan, see you later I guess” Izuku replied defeatedly, closing his eyes. He plans on relaxing the day away, so he wouldn’t risk having a heated argument with his special someone and then spend the whole day overthinking on how to make it up to the other.

There was an awkward shuffling on the side of his bed, indicating that Kacchan is now getting dressed. Then comes the awkward dead silence. Izuku’s eyes remained closed, he wouldn’t risk looking at Kacchan before he leaves, and risking the tendency of stopping the blonde from leaving his apartment again and cause a ruckus.

“so that’s it?!” Kacchan complained louder than necessary.

Izuku forced to open his eyes and see the blonde fuming and a second close to erupting. “Sorry?” he dumbly inquired.

“Tch. Whatever nerd, just go back to sleep and never woke up ever again” he replied angrily and walked out the door, banging it so hard Izuku suspects the hinges broke. Huh? What did I do now? He wondered.

So, in the end, Izuku spend the whole day overthinking what he did wrong and on how to swoon the grumpy cat.

The overthinking extended to a troublesome degree because he never gets to see Kacchan again. For a whole week.

Kacchan avoided Izuku.

For a whole damn month.

WHAT. THE. HELL.

Izuku’s mind is now on full throttle. What did he do this time? He just did what Katsuki wishes right? When he goes against Kacchan orders, he gets mad. When he goes with Kacchan’s orders, the later issues a temporary restraining order against the former. Izuku is going crazy right now.

Izuku’s now on the building opposite the agency where the explosive hero works. Izuku is standing by the window and has a full view of the said hero’s table.

“I can’t really believe that Bakugou is just playing hard to get, this is too silly, even for someone like him.” Iida said unbelievably.

Izuku did really panicked a lot for him to call on his best friends for help. Can they blame him? It’s been a month now and Izuku have no idea what really happened and what to do.

“Bakugou-kun just a natural tsundere” Uraraka stated as a matter-of-fact. “figured it out the first time I saw him”, she added.

“I thought the dere archetypes are only applicable in highschool?” Todoroki asked, who just came on the room they rented for their important mission. The question might seem rhetorical, but his friends knew better that he is seriously asking.

“Todoroki-kun, love is for all ages, so it’s just natural that dere archetypes is also applicable at all ages.” Uraraka supplied enthusiastically like she was lecturing a student. Well, she might be, this mission is her idea after all. Izuku was very thankful for his hopeless romantic friend. He promised he will buy more shoujo mangas for her.

“Anyway, Midoriya, you must get going now, Ground Zero’s patrol will be in an hour.” Todoroki supplied.

It was really a God-sent miracle that there was a scheduled inter-agency meeting between Kacchan’s and Todoroki’s agencies today. Apparently, as part of Kacchan’s life mission to avoid Izuku, he changed his patrol schedules and threaten his colleagues and side-kicks to not tell him about it. Izuku was even unofficially labelled as persona non-grata on the building. Good thing the side-kicks didn’t know his connection to Todoroki so he’s the perfect mule for the mission.

Izuku just nodded at the information and do his final preparations.

Wig, check.

Concealer, check.

Contacts, check.

Sunglasses, check.

Flowers, check.

Letter, check.

Voice modulator, check.

Mask, check.

Yes, voice modulator. Katsuki and Izuku spent almost all their lives together, so it’s only natural that Kacchan knows every distinct feature of Izuku, including his voice. This is a mission of a lifetime, so Izuku must make sure it’s fool proof.

“Delivery for Bakugou Katsuki-san” announce by a blonde just-out-of-the-hospital looking guy. Seriously, this guy’s sunglasses and mask is just too thick for Katsuki’s liking, if this guy weren’t holding a bouquet of flowers for him, he would have thrown the guy out of the room the minute he walks into it.

“Right here!” Katsuki replied angrily. He knows where the flower would come from. The bastard’s been sending him flower’s for almost a month now. Katsuki admits the flowers are beautiful but it’s not what he needed right now.

This is stupid really. Katsuki really felt stupid for feeling angry that day. Deku just did what Katsuki wanted, but instead feeling victorious, he felt various weird emotions like anger, disappointment, irritation, worry, fear. Katsuki may or may not have an idea why he felt those, but that’s a story to tell for another day. Right now, he wants space away from the green-haired personification of sunshine and rainbow to sort-out these feelings. But the creep just doesn’t get the memo.

“oya oya oya. Another lit bouquet for our precious Kacchan” teased by the blonde woman who just popped out beside Katsuki. Camie’s seems to really enjoy the predicament Katsuki is under right now. Because none of his idiotic classmates worked with him in this agency, and Camie is the only hero around his age bracket, he’s stuck with her. He became her instant “best fam”, and since then the blonde is always sticking her nose on his business.

“oh, he didn’t leave a note this time.” She noted. Katsuki’s frowned deepened. The feeling of that particular moment threatened to resurface.

“but there’s an envelope, though fam” she backed up. Katsuki whipped his head to the direction of the flower faster than he imagined he’s capable of and he wondered if his brain was still on his skull or his heart was still his ribcage. Calm down Katsuki, don’t let others know how you missed the damn nerd. And true to that, there’s an envelope on the flower.

Katsuki immediately grabbed the envelope before Camie had a chance to beat him into it. Damn, is he back in highschool? Why does he feel giddy right now? He opened the envelope and opened the letter it contains.

Dear Kacchan,

They say, “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, and I could not agree more to that. It’s been a month now and you pushing me away makes me crazy. I know this isn’t rich for someone like me who always stick his nose to others’ businesses, but this one is different. In previous cases, I push myself to others because I want to save them, but this time? It’s because I want to save myself. Your absence made me realize two things: one, that I really do love you; and two, that I can’t live without you by my side. I even hallucinate of you within my apartment. Crazy right? If I only knew it would turn out like this, I should have not let go of you that day. But if you’ll give me another chance I will never let go of you forever. Please give me another chance. Please let me in your life again.

Always and forever yours,

Deku

“Oh my God!” Camie exclaimed. Katsuki didn’t notice that she was reading the letter behind him. Damn, that bastard, even just a letter from him makes Katsuki lower his guard.

“’if you’ll give me another chance, I will never let go of you forever’, BOI! That’s the most lit love letter I ever read in my life! Can’t you two just get married already?” Camie yelled, or shrieked, or whatever. And Katsuki don’t have the energy to throw the blonde out of the window, his energy was already sucked by the damn letter on his hands

Izuku’s heart stopped beating. Somebody should really plan his funeral right now.

Izuku was already at the brink of death when for the first time in a long time (really, a month is already too long for him), Kacchan’s voice was directed at him. And seeing the blonde in close up again didn’t helped either. But the final blow to Izuku’s spirit was the blush that crept on Kacchan’s face after the reading the letter. Damn, there’s no saving me right now, I’m really into deep.

Izuku choked on his own saliva at Camie-san’s remark for them to get married ASAP. Well, he’ll get into that sooner or later, but how will he supposed to propose when the angry blonde don’t even want to talk to him.

He masked his impromptu choke with a cough. Good thing it will justify the thick mask.

Kacchan just snarled at Camie-san, told her "fuck off, con artist" and fished out his personal phone. Who is he going to call right now? Kirishima-kun? And ask him to eliminate Izuku once and for all? Crap, he hasn’t finished his will yet.

The ring made by his personal phone was the answer to his questions. So much for a fool proof plan.

While eying his phone, Izuku wondered if Todoroki-kun is the room right now because room just got colder and warmer at the same time. He took a quick glance at Kacchan to see the other male giving him a his signature death glare. So that’s why.

“Kacchan let me explain” Izuku pleaded, he got rid of the mask with the modulator to prove that he’s sincere.

“Dekuuu..” the angry blonde dangerously called him by his nickname, small explosions coming out on the formers palms. The anger on Kacchan’s eyes made Izuku practically see the light from the other side of the mortal world. I’m dead, he grimly thought. This is not the end he imagined for himself, but if for the name of love, he will accept his fate.

The death blow Izuku anticipated never came though, instead he was dragged out of the room by the source of current dilemma. They walked awkwardly along the halls of the agency until Izuku was thrown inside of what seemed to be an unused conference room.

Izuku desperately sat on the chair nearest him, but he didn’t had a chance to breathe properly when Kacchan started his interrogation.

“What do you want nerd” he asked.

“What do you think I want Kacchan?” Izuku boldly asked in return. Either way, he will not get out of this room unscathed so why not make out most of this opportunity.

“I’m thinking you want to be a victim of a homicide right now, but I don’t want to indulge on wishful thinking so I’m asking you.” Kacchan replied deadpan.

Izuku gaped. He’s really not going to live to see another sunrise, isn’t he?

“I really wished no one’s dying this day Kacchan. And to answer your question, I wanted a second chance.” Izuku answered with a forced calm.

“a chance on what Deku?” the blonde inquired again

“a chance for us”

“what us?”

Damn, tsunderes are really hard to understand.

Izuku bolted out of his seat and came face to face with the blonde. He cupped his face, so the blonde can’t avoid his gaze.

“I’m serious Kacchan, I like you, I want you and I love you. Please give me another chance.”

Kacchan looked like he wants to spat a ten-page two-column back to back list of profanities in every language known to man.

But instead he closed the distance between their faces and kissed Izuku like there’s no tomorrow.

Izuku took that as a yes.

You claim it’s not in the cards

Fate is pulling you miles away from me

But you’re here in my heart

So who can stop me if I decide

That you are my destiny?
