Work Text:

The faint morning light filtered in through the blinds, giving the bedroom a soft glow. A deep breath in, exhale, everything was calm. The man in the bed beside him- his husband, sleeping soundly, peacefully. The sun giving his freckled, suntanned face the glow he had when they were younger, one he had never ceased to love. He reached out and touched his face, his skin was enviously soft and he had to fight the urge to kiss him and never let him go. Their matching rings glinted in the golden glow of late dawn, and he smiled ever so slightly, he was happy. The action had caused the man to stir, slowly blinking his eyes, waiting for them to adjust. He stretched with a yawn and carded a small hand through his tangled mess of green curls. The sun danced on his bare chest beautifully- this was definitely a sight he wanted to wake up to forever.

“G’mornin’ Kacchan,” He mumbled, still half asleep. “Happy birthday.” and with that, Izuku reached out and grabbed his face, smushing his cheeks and kissing him softly.

“Morning, nerd,” he said while swatting away Izuku’s hands. The smaller male smiled and went in for another kiss. Katsuki happily obliged. When Izuku pulled away he started to get up, he opened the blinds with a smile and turned back to a groaning Katsuki.

“Stay here while I make breakfast, is there anything in particular you want?”

“S’okay, I can make my own.” As Katsuki made to get up he found that Izuku had come over to his side of the bed and was pushing him back down.

“Nuh uh, I don’t think so, it's your birthday so I’m making breakfast.” He commanded, the face he made was difficult to say no to, so he begrudgingly laid back down. Izuku left the room without asking what he wanted again, so it must be a surprise now. He heard pots and pans clanging around, and the sound of something sizzling on the stove. Soon the smell of bacon and pancakes made its way through their apartment. Katsuki was getting restless just waiting for the food, the smell making him even hungrier. He got up, the floor was cold against his bare feet, his heavy footfalls let Izuku know he was coming.

“Katsuki~ I told you to stay in bed,” Izuku whined, “I can do this myself!”

“Heh, maybe,” Katsuki slid his arms around Izuku’s waist as he flipped a pancake. “but I don’t like you having to do everything yourself. What kind of husband would I be?” He kissed his shoulder lightly, a small sign of affection, but it went a long way. Izuku turned around with a blush on his face.

“Ka- Kacchan…” His face was hidden in his hands and Katsuki smirked, he tightened his grip on his husband's waist, bringing him closer.

“Seems I’ve beaten you again, eh?” He brought his arms up around Izuku’s shoulders and hugged him, Katsuki wasn’t much of a hugger but sometimes he made exceptions… Sometimes. They stayed there for a minute before Izuku pulled back with a gasp.

“The pancakes!” He screeched slightly. Katsuki let out a small checkle and parted from him so he could tend to the pancakes. He walked over to the breakfast bar and sat down, just watching Izuku make their food. After about a minute he put the bacon, eggs, and pancakes onto a plate and handed it to Katsuki with a kiss on the cheek. He grabbed his own plate and sat beside him.

“Once you’re done, I have a gift for you,” Izuku simply stated.

“I told you not to buy me anything shitty nerd,” Katsuki hissed.

“Well I did, so you’re going to have to deal with it,”

They continued to eat their breakfast with mindless banter and chatter, jokes and puns and everything in between. Their dynamic had grown so much over the years that they never ran out of things to talk about. Izuku picked up his and Katsuki’s plate while they continued to talk and washed them up. When he finished Izuku suddenly jumped up and exclaimed:

“Time for your gift!”

He walked back to their bedroom to get the gift, and when he came back he looked nervous and flustered. He was holding his hands behind his back, and not looking in Katsuki’s direction.

“What’s got you so nervous, Deku?” He slowly made his way over to his slightly trembling husband, when a look of determination settled onto his face. He removed his hands from behind his back, to reveal a long, thin silver box. A small green bow sat on top of it to show that it was in fact, a gift. Izuku’s hands shot out towards Katsuki, handing him the small box. He tentatively opened it, all the while keeping an eye on Izuku. Inside the box held two thin neck chains, nothing on them.

“U-um since we can’t wear our rings during our hero work, because they could get lost or ruined I thought that we could put them on these chains so we could wear them but not ruin them a-and um-“ He hurriedly explained, but Katsuki stopped him before he could start mumbling.

“I-I love it… Izuku.”

The smile that spread across Izuku’s face was one he’d never forget; a smile of pure, unadulterated happiness.
