Work Text:
There was a soft noise, like rustling cloth before everything went quiet.
Slowly a small head of curly green hair slowly peeked over the couch and watched the slumbering figure on it and she bit her lip to stop the snickers.
Usually her dad woke up very easily, but right now he was dead to the world after finally finishing tackling a big villain with the help of some other pro's.
Her daddy had worked with All Might and it had been so cool!!.
like... Really Really Cool.
Shuffling around the couch she watched her dad for a minute, head tilting to the side, he was in his usual black shirt and pants but had left his capture scarf on the coffee table, an arm thrown over his eyes and a soft raspy snore escaping him that he always denied he did.
Silly dad, of course he Snored.
Green eyes turned to the scarf and she reached out and grabbed it, it easily folded in her small hands but when she pulled it it barely budged and she smiled.
Watching her dad on the TV had been awesome because she didn't see him fight a lot, he liked to keep hidden like those Ninja's in comic books and Izumi found it even More awesome that not only was her dad a Pro Hero, but he was a Ninja.
Her daddy had so many talents.
Using both hands she held up the capture scarf above her head and tried to remember how he wore it before stopping, green eyes widening.
Oh right, if she was going to wear this she had to look like a ninja like her dad.
Gently placing the scarf on the table she quickly (but quietly!) made her way to her room and quickly took off her uniform and folded it before digging into her dresser, pulling out some black pants and a shirt she wiggled into them quickly before looking in the mirror and tugging her hair from its intricate pony tail, Uncle Zashi would understand, she was sure.
Once her hair was loose she ran her fingers through it and smiled when it fell into her eyes before hurrying back down the hall and into the living room, listening carefully and hearing the familiar rasping noise of her dad sleeping she tip toed to the coffee table and back to the scarf which she grasped again and smiled before draping it around her shoulders but then pouted as the two long ends dragged along the ground.
Oh right, he wrapped it around his shoulders, right?.
Nodding her head she tried that but it was so long that it was too hard, little mouth firming she unrolled it a crossed the floor before carefully laying down at one end and then holding the edge.
Then she began rolling across the living room floor.
Head slightly dizzy she sat up, swaying and hair sticking up she looked down when her arms couldn't move and frowned when her entire body was encased in the long scarf.
Well darn, that didn't work.
Something suddenly tugged the scarf and with a soft high pitched noise she was pulled into the air and twisted, coming eye to eye with tired black ones.
Perking up she smiled. “Hi dad!.” she wiggled a bit but found she couldn't move to well besides her legs below the knee and so proceeded to kick them like she had been taught when swimming, giggling when she swayed back and forth.
“gone and caught yourself, did you?.” he asked with an amused huff and she giggled again as he stood, shaking the scarf and her in the process and she began laughing then as the world tilted and swirled before she landed with a squeal on the couch, eyes spinning as she tried to sit up and instead fell over herself, a large hand steadying her when she nearly wobbled off the couch. “Careful.” her dads voice said somewhere above her and she shook her head, world coming into focus finally and she was picked up, large hands underneath her arms before her dad laid back down on the couch and pulled her down with him before the world went dark.
Large green eyes blinked before she wiggled in his hold and squirmed up until her head poked out of the blanket that he had flung over the both of them, chin resting on his shoulder but a hand on her back stopped any further movement. “Sleep you little menace.” she giggled at his voice, it was all low and exashb- Exash.... Tired .
Wiggling until she was comfortable she buried her face into his side and shut her eyes but still felt giddy and wiggled again.
Her dads side heaved in a sigh before his hand moved up and curled around the back of her neck, fingers moving and she went limp, mind fuzzing over before with a soft murmur the girl conked out within minutes.
Shouta huffed before his eyes closed and not to soon after they were both letting out slow, rasping snores.
_
“Are you sure this is okay?” the words were hesitant and bright green eyes looked at the boy beside her brightly.
“Yeah! My dad does it all the time!.” she tugged on the cloth that she figured would work, it Almost looked like her dads scarf and kind of felt the same, too.
“Uncle Shouta is a pro hero though.” Hitoshi mumbled as he sat on top of the jungle gym with her in the park and she hummed.
“And a professional Ninja.” she said and the boy huffed.
“And a professional Ninja..” he finally said and she nodded before standing up carefully.
She had done the measurements, with this amount of cloth and the angle she should be able to swing from the top of the jungle gym to the sand pit on the other side of the tree with no problem.
Theoretically.
Bending slightly to Really make sure the knot wouldn't come undone she set her feet. “Izumi.... are you Sure? What if you get hurt?.” he asked and she threw a grin at him. “it'll be okay Hitoshi! It'll be Fun!.” he still looked unsure before nodding and she giggled in her glee.
Small hands grasping the cloth she wiggled a bit before jumping from the jungle gym.
she quickly realized three things.
-
she hadn't accounted for the sudden weight of an eight year old on the cloth in her hold (which happened to be a regular old scarf.)
-
she hadn't thought of the Speed at which she would go and how that would factor into things and finally..
-
she hadn't realized how hard she needed to Grip the cloth to hang on.
so not only did the cloth rip, but it also slipped from her grasp and sent her plummeting hard into the playground dirt on her back and knocked all the wind out of her.
Her only thoughts?
I regret everything.
“Izumi!” dust was kicked up and frantic purple eyes hovered above her before she was finally, Finally able to drag in a breath into her painful chest and she rolled to her side with a soft cough.
“I knew this was a bad ideal! I need to get mom... I need to get Uncle Shouta!”
green eyes went wide and she weakly grasped at his pant leg and sent the purple haired boy smacking face first into the dirt from his momentum alone, leaving Two eight year old's on the ground groaning.
“Sorry Toshi.” she gasped out and he rolled to his side, hands on his face and tears in his eyes.
“why do I listen to you when you think these things up?.” he whined and she couldn't help it.
She began laughing and soon enough, his weak voice joined her.
…
“What the heck did you two get up to?.” dark purple eyes stared at them and Izumi grinned, dirt and leafs sticking to her hair and face while Hitoshi looked everywhere But at his mother, his forehead bright red and covered in dirt as well.
“We were playing Ninja!.” Izumi finally said because it was Technically true...
Technically.
“Uh-huh....”
for some reason, Izumi didn't think Aunt Shouko believed her.
Looking into those narrow purple eyes the girl cringed.
Yeah... that was a definite No.
_
wide green eyes stared out at the huge building that rose high above her.
Reeaaally High.
It was taller then her Dad.
“Well it kind of has to be kid.” her hair was ruffled before her dad walked forward and she squeaked and quickly hurried after him, face flushed because she had been talking out loud.
Again.
“Remember what I said, stay in the teachers lounge, don't get into trouble, Behave.” her face heated again before she nodded, hand going out to clutch his pant leg.
In case it wasn't obvious, she was grounded, apparently while Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery her dad didn't appreciate her playing ninja.
Well.. he had worded it differently, but she still couldn't say the words right, let alone write them down.
And to 'Keep an Eye on her' he had brought her to his work, where she would stay in the lounge and do her homework.
And nothing else.
His words, not hers.
The hallways were much bigger than her schools, Everything was bigger than her schools!.
She wondered if the toilets were bigger..
a finger prodded her shoulder and she obediently began walking again until they got to a (big) door and she was led inside, blinking at the eyes that were on her and-
her brain screeched to a halt when her eyes landed on the people in the room and she just Shut. Down.
Green eyes stared, jumping from one person to the other.
Snipe, Quirk: Homing. Ectoplasm, Quirk: Clones.
And Power Loader, Vlad King, Hound Dog, Thirteen...
the noise she let out was not human.
…
“Is... is she okay?.” the voice came from Inui and Aizawa sighed and picked the catatonic girl up and plopped her on the couch.
“She's fine, she's just having a moment.” dark eyes looked over the girl before snorting.
“She'll come around in a bit, make sure she finishes this.” he reached into his sleeping bag and pulled out some papers and books, along with a bento box and a few juice packets.
“Make sure she eats, oh.. and be prepared for more questions then you've ever heard in your life said so quickly you can't understand them.” he stood and ruffled the still girls hair before turning.
“Oi! Eraser!.” the words were yelled but he merely waved his hand and shut the door behind him.
As one every eye turned towards the girl with an almost fish eyed look to her.
Hizashi and Nemuri just snickered and waited for the bomb to blow.
..
a loud squeal erupted and the students of Class 1-A startled, looking around wildly but their teacher only snapped his fingers, eyes bored.
“Oi, pay attention.”
“Uhh...b-... But Sensei”
black hair flew up and red eyes glowed, with a 'meep' noise the boy sat back down and tried not to breath to loudly.
“That's what I thought.”

objectively, Shouta knew that Izumi wanted to be a hero.
It didn't truly hit him that she Wanted to Be a Hero until a little after her ninth birthday when she went to save a cat from a car.
A Moving Car.
A moving Car what the Fuck was his kid Thinking!
After that heart attack, (he felt like he had a few gray hairs Somewhere now, dammit.) she had been Very, Very grounded.
And then he realized when she became a hero. (when, not If because it was just his luck he somehow got the nicest, most kind person on earth as his kid and she had the self preservation of a Lemming) that something like this would happen.
Regularly.
Over and over again.
Que mental screeching.
