Chapter Text

Min Yoongi has always wanted to be a praised, well-known artist. He wanted his technology to clog up from all of the positive feedback he would get on his music, and he wished to be unable to leave his apartment without somebody recognizing him as the amazing rapper and producer that he came to be. He wanted to be award-winning, so he spent many hours working hard in his studio, keeping his fingers crossed for the future of his work.

His family had always told him that enjoying what you do for a living is much more important than the likes or followers you could gain from it. Yoongi did see their point, but it always felt so good when he got a whole load of love for his work. That was what kept him up in his studio for hours at a time. He often neglected the rest of his shared apartment for his beloved studio. He has pulled countless all-nighters in there and skipped many meals. This was all for the sake of his music. When he did eat though, he usually ordered a bunch of takeout and left the trash all over the place as he tried to stay focused at his desk. Maybe some of his habits weren’t the healthiest, but he typically cared about the work he produced more so than his overall health.

He shared his apartment with Kim Namjoon, a rapper who knew his limits more than Yoongi did, and worried about him often. When Namjoon wasn’t working on his own music, he usually either hung out with friends, went to parties, bars, the local coffee shop, or sat outside of Yoongi’s studio, questioning if he should drag the boy outside with him or not. Typically it didn’t work, Yoongi just got annoyed and locked the door on him, leaving Namjoon to frown outside the room and worry about his roommate. Today was different, though. Namjoon was surprised when Yoongi suddenly left his studio and easily agreed to walk over to the cafe and take a relaxing coffee break. Yoongi was feeling guilty about declining Namjoon’s offers all the time, and figured that he could find some inspiration for his music while he was out as well. It ended up being a great time, and coffee breaks with his roommate had become a regular thing. The tables have turned, and now the two of them went out for coffee together almost every morning. This was great for maintaining Yoongi’s friendship with his fellow rapper of a roommate, and it was also wonderful for Yoongi’s overall health and wellness.

This was where Yoongi had met Hoseok, a gorgeous barista who happened to make music himself. The two boys had grown friendly with one another, and got more and more close every time they saw each other at the cafe. Hoseok took Yoongi’s order all the time, so they were able to see each other a lot. Sometimes, Yoongi wakes up in the morning and completely dreads leaving his studio, but when Hoseok pops into his mind, he’s ready to go. He doesn’t exactly know what it was, but Hoseok made Yoongi feel safe and comfortable. Yoongi wanted to get closer the hot barista, but he was admittedly nervous about it.

Hoseok was a fairly tall boy, taller than Yoongi (even though his height wasn’t that difficult to beat), but he was probably a couple years younger. He looked to be around eighteen or nineteen years old. His hair was dark and parted. When he smiled, he revealed pretty emerald-green braces, which were probably coming off soon, judging by the straight, stunning white teeth that were behind them. He wore his work clothes perfectly, and had a hot and fit body that looks like one a talented dancer would own. Yoongi wasn’t all that surprised when he overheard that he has a second job at the dance studio across the street.

Namjoon had easily sensed that Yoongi was developing a crush on this barista/rapper/dancer. He knew Yoongi well, maybe a bit too well. They have lived with each other for almost five good years at this point. Namjoon could tell a lot of things with Yoongi, like when he was crushing. Yoongi didn’t want Namjoon to ever mention it, but of course his roommate had to eventually bring it it up. They were at the coffee shop, and Hoseok was working not too far away from their conversation.

“You like him.”

Yoongi almost choked on his coffee as he heard the words come out of his roommate’s mouth. “Excuse me?”

“Hoseok.” Namjoon tilted his head over to where the mentioned boy was working. “You’re so into Hoseok”

“Shut up, Namjoon.” Yoongi whisper-yelled at Namjoon, not wanting his crush to notice. Namjoon just chuckled at how the older boy reacted.

“Okay, yeah. So you definitely like him.”

“Be quiet.

“Come on, Yoongi. This is good for you! You should give him your number and show him your studio. You said that he raps, right?”

“Yeah, he does.” Yoongi nodded nervously.

“Why don’t you just go for it, then?”

Yoongi groaned as Namjoon pushed him like this. His feelings for Hoseok were just a lot for him to handle, but yes, Yoongi did want to go for it. He was extremely nervous and it took multiple tries, but after a while, he was ultimately able to get his crush's phone number. Hallelujah.

For the first time, Hoseok was coming over to Yoongi’s apartment and studio. Yoongi barely let anybody into his studio, he didn’t even let his own roommate in. It was his zone. He wanted to win over Hoseok’s heart so badly though, so he was willing to do this. He wanted to make his place look absolutely immaculate for his guest, but he only had a little more than an hour to prepare for him. He cranked up his radio as he began to clear off his cluttered desk, only to find some of his old song lyrics that he wanted to continue with. He liked them, so maybe others would as well. He then got preoccupied, and completely forgot about cleaning out the studio for his crush. Before he knew it, Namjoon was loudly knocking on the door so that Yoongi can hear him over his blaring music. “Your lover boy is waiting outside for you, Yoongi!”

“Shit!” Yoongi panicked as he hopped off of his chair and talked to Namjoon about keeping his mouth shut as he made his way over to the door. He then began to shake nervously with the realization that his highkey crush was behind that door. Shit, he was actually terrified to spend this quality time with Hoseok. “Namjoon, I’m scared. I really don’t want this to go wrong.”

“Hey, hey, hey.” Namjoon spoke softly as he brought Yoongi’s chin up to look into his eyes. “Listen to me. You got this, okay? I’ll leave you two alone, and you just need to be yourself. This is going to go well for you, I can feel it. You got this in the bag.”

This brought Yoongi’s confidence up. He fixed his posture as he smiled his gummy smile. “Thank you, Namjoon. I really appreciate it.”

“Hey, no problem. Now, I’ll leave you to it. Go get your man!” Namjoon spoke enthusiastically as he left for his room. Yoongi took a deep breath before he opened the door that separated him from his crush.

“Hi Yoongi!” The voice of Hoseok was cheerful, and his smile was bright. He was everything.

Yoongi invited him in, being self-conscious of his every move. He was excited, but he certainly wasn’t not nervous. Hoseok was nervous too though, and Yoongi didn’t even know that until Hoseok told him about it later on in life. Yoongi was too caught up in his own nervousness to tell. He couldn’t stop his hand from shaking as he opened the door to his studio.

It wasn’t the cleanest of studios, but it still looked perfect to Hoseok. “Wow, Yoongi! This is amazing!”

“Thank you, I know it’s a total mess, though. I wanted to clean it up for you-”

“Hey, don’t fret about it.” Hoseok put his hand on Yoongi’s shoulder, and Yoongi didn’t want him to see that inside he was losing his mind. Hoseok just smiled innocently as he talked to Yoongi sweetly. “I really like it in here, Yoongi. Uh, would you be okay with showing me around your studio?”

Yoongi was screaming internally, but nodded with a smile. “Of course.”

He gave Hoseok a little tour, and they were both in their glory. Hoseok was extremely mesmerized and happy as he was shown around, and Yoongi was in love. He needed to make a move, but a subtle one.

“Man, I wish I had a studio like this.” Hoseok softly admitted, his eyes looking around at every little area of the studio.

Yoongi then felt a lightbulb, and a smile grew on his face as he spoke. “Hey, if you’d ever like to use my studio, you’re welcome to. We can even make you your own a little station and work together and give each other all sorts of feedback.”

“Oh my god! I’d love that!” Hoseok clapped his hands together excitedly as Yoongi laughed and nodded.

“Yeah, I’d love that too.”

They had such a great time together in the studio, and were excited for many more of these days to come. It was such a wonderful and exhilarating feeling to have. Hoseok also ended up meeting Namjoon that night, and they connected really well. The three of them had dinner together before Hoseok headed home in a great mood, and Yoongi went to bed with a smile on his face. Everything felt so right.

Every day after work, Hoseok usually spent some quality time with Yoongi at the coffee shop. Yoongi typically still went for coffee with Namjoon in the morning though, knowing that his roommate wouldn’t love it if they suddenly didn’t have coffee time anymore, so Yoongi normally ended up at the coffee shop twice a day. Afterwards, Yoongi and Hoseok usually spent more time together and hung out somewhere else. They either went to Hoseok’s house of which he shared with his sister (who is an absolute sweetheart), or they spent hours at a time in the studio. Yoongi found a desk at a yard sale for Hoseok that they both had set up together one day. Hoseok was always grateful for Yoongi letting him share his space with him, so Hoseok made sure to use the studio well. He wanted Yoongi to be proud of what he does in that studio. The two of them always lost track of time in there, trying to work hard for a successful future.

More time has passed, and they had gradually gotten closer and more touchy-feely with one another. This was setting Yoongi into panic mode. Has Hoseok caught feelings, or is this just the way he is with everybody? Is Hoseok aware that Yoongi has been crushing on him? Was he too obvious? Would he get rejected if Hoseok finds out, or does he already know? The thoughts flooded through Yoongi’s overwhelmed head as he attempted to focus on his work, but he just couldn’t. Yoongi didn’t know what to write. His head hurt like hell and he was just feeling so aggravated at himself. He slammed his aching head on his innocent keyboard, and stayed there in silence. That was all before he heard a knock at the door. Yoongi sat upright and tried to get his act together.

“Hello? Namjoon said you were in here.”

It was Hoseok. Of course he had to come right when Yoongi was losing it. He was panicking immensely, but he needed to be his absolute best self for this crush of his. He was absolutely terrified to lose Hoseok, but he couldn’t let that side of him leak through yet. He had to stay cool. “Come on in, Hobi!”

Hoseok walked in and carefully closed the door as he sat down at his own desk. He turned on his sticker-covered laptop and got a blank slate open. He stared at it for a couple moments, and then groaned as he leaned back on his chair. He ran his fingers through his dark hair as he looked over to Yoongi and heaved a heavy sigh. “Man I’m so stuck, Yoongi.”

“Yeah, same here.” Yoongi responded with a nod.

The room then went quiet. It felt like about five minutes of contemplation before Hoseok finally made up his mind. Today will be the day that he’ll finally confess his love for Yoongi.

“Hey, Yoongi?” He started.

“Hm?”

“Can I ask you something?”

Hoseok’s voice got nervous mid-sentence with the realization of what he was doing. Yoongi turned in his spinny-chair to face the younger rapper. “Yeah, what’s up?”

“So…” Hoseok began. “What are we? Like, I’ve developed a lot of feelings for you the more we hang out but I don’t know if-”

“Hobi.” Yoongi interrupted. He had a habit of interrupting, but today he felt like this was good. Now was his opportunity, and he didn’t want to miss it. “Come over here.”

“Oh, okay…” Hoseok hesitated, but he complied. He was about to speak as he came close to Yoongi, but was caught off guard by a kiss, and oh man. That kiss. That goddamn kiss. Sparks were flying all over the place in the studio that day. It felt unbelievable. Hoseok flashed a shiny smile as he pulled away to breathe. He was feeling extremely excited, and also nerve-wrackingly nervous. It all felt like paradise, and he never wanted this to end. Ever. “So, does this mean you like me back?”

Yoongi replied by kissing him again, passion running through him with his every move. When they pulled away for air, Yoongi giggled sweetly before he said some words.

“Yeah. Now, would you like to help me write a love song?”

“I’d love to.”

It’s been six months since they had officially considered themselves a thing, and Hoseok was moving in with Yoongi. (Though he was practically living with him already.)

Namjoon was moving out. He had met someone by the name of Kim Seokjin, and they ended up hitting it off and falling in deep love. Namjoon was already ready to spend the rest of his life with him, so it only made sense for Namjoon and Hoseok to switch spots if Namjoon was going to move out for Jin anyways.

They had a spare room now, and they didn’t know what to do with it. Yoongi and Hoseok slept together in the same bed in Yoongi’s room, unless they both fell asleep in the studio. Yoongi made the offer to turn the room into Hoseok’s very own studio, but Hoseok didn’t want to work in there alone, which Yoongi was happy about. Yoongi didn’t want to work alone either. He never thought he’d ever enjoy sharing a studio with somebody, but here he was.

That room ended up being mostly empty, with nothing but Namjoon’s old bed in there. They decided to consider it their guest room for if anybody wanted to stay overnight, or if they had a party and somebody got drunk. Hoseok found a soft, baby blue blanket, and threw it over the bed. He then began to daydream. If they decided to start a family, this room could be for the child. At least until they could afford a bigger house. All of that was a lot to think about, though. Hoseok sighed as he walked out of that room, and crawled into bed with Yoongi, who smiled as he made room for his boyfriend. He ran his fingers through Hoseok’s hair and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “How was your day, baby?”

“It was alright, how about you?” Hoseok leaned against his boyfriend.

“Better now that you’re by my side.” Yoongi answered, earning a smile from Hoseok. They both enjoyed each others company, but then Hoseok had an important question that he needed to get out of his system.

“Hey, Yoongi?”

“Yes, sunshine?”

“Would you be interested in starting a family?”
