I'm A Hurricane (And You're My Thunder)

Summary:

The perfect remedy to Min Yoongi's sour mood 101, and How to deal with extra grumpy Jungkook 101

Work Text:

The door clicked open and in walked Yoongi, looking worn out and sulky in the silence of the night.

"Oh you're here."

"I made you dinner," Jungkook said from where he was seated on the floor, papers spread all over the coffee table in front of him.

"What's up?" Jungkook asked upon seeing Yoongi's face, sounding nonchalant but his forehead creased with slight worry.

"Bad day," Yoongi simply said, slumping onto the couch with an apparent pout. He didn't even bother to take off his coat.

And Jungkook knew just the perfect remedy for Yoongi's sour mood. "Movie and pancakes?" he asked knowingly, already moving to open the cupboard where he kept the pancake flour.

In an instant Yoongi's lips curled up into a smile, very much grateful like he always did. "Definitely."

So Jungkook started cooking up pancakes, stacking up one after another on their shared plate and then pouring honey over them as well as a bit of butter because Yoongi likes old-fashioned pancake over cream and chocolate sauce ones.

Yoongi was starry eyed when his gaze landed on the plate of honeyed pancakes and Jungkook mentally patted himself on the shoulder for a job well done.

He put the plate down on the coffee table and walked over to the TV stand, skimming over the DVDs as he asked, "What are you up for?"

"You choose," said Yoongi from the couch, one side of his cheek squished as he lied on his side. He then added, "Anything Disney."

Jungkook snorted. "Disney huh." His eyes scanned the stacks of DVDs, lips curling up into a mischievous smile when his eyes landed on a particular one. "Frozen?" he asked, fully expecting the older man to make a face and outright reject the idea but instead Yoongi gave him the OK. Jungkook blanched.

Yoongi had bought the DVD once upon a time ago just to spite Jungkook but they hadn't gotten around to watch it because the latter refused to even lay a finger on the box, let alone sit through an hour or so to watch it.

"Really, babe?" Jungkook deadpanned.

"Might as well see what the fuss was all about right?" Yoongi was grinning now, teasing.

Jungkook shook his head, unperturbed. "Nope. I'm not touching that thing."

"Okay, anything but Disney and superheroes then," emphasised Yoongi, knowing fully well that Jungkook would choose a superhero movie without batting an eye.

Jungkook's lips protruded in a pout but it was gone as fast as it did that Yoongi missed it.

The younger man hummed as he scanned the names but then perked up when his eyes landed on a certain movie title. He pulled it off the shelf and held it at Yoongi's line of vision. "Kingsman 2?"

Yoongi easily agreed and he sat up, taking off his coat as he did so as Jungkook walked over to the couch after inserting the DVD into the player. Yoongi immediately snuggled to his side while Jungkook took hold of the plate of pancakes. He tore off a bite sized pancake as the opening scene came into view and proceeded to feed the man beside him who happily accepted it with his mouth wide open.

The hour went by in a bit of a blur; with Jungkook constantly tearing off bits of pancake unconsciously as the minute ticked by, eyes focused on the TV, while Yoongi ate the bite sized pancakes all the while occasionally chancing a glance at the other male, lips forming a smile upon seeing Jungkook's serious face.

"I know I’m handsome but eyes on the TV, Yoongi," Jungkook said without looking.

Yoongi chuckled, "Sure, babe." But his eyes were still fixed on the man beside him.

"I won't tell you anything if you're going to ask me to explain what you're missing later."

"I can just watch it another time," shrugged Yoongi.

So Jungkook gave up asking Yoongi to focus on the movie, letting him do whatever he wanted.

"If I were one of the victims, would you go to such extent to get the antidote so you could save me?" Yoongi asked out of nowhere, as the scene of the villain character Charlie was on the phone with his girlfriend and told her to meet him so he could give her the antidote.

"Why do drugs in the first place?" Jungkook questioned back in a nonchalance manner.

Yoongi almost roll his eyes. "I'm just saying. If it wasn't cause by drugs, would you go on the mission to save me?"

"I'd do it to save the world."

This time Yoongi did roll his eyes as he remarked sarcastically, "How honorable."

Jungkook couldn’t help but laugh at the look of discontent painted on Yoongi’s face as the latter looked at him. "Don't worry; you'd be the first person I rescue among others." And just like that Yoongi grinned too, laughed even. It was easy to make him laugh, or maybe because Jungkook just had that effect on him.

They continued to watch the movie in silence then.

When the credits rolled in, stomach full and plates void of pancakes, Jungkook finally spoke up. "Feeling better?" he asked while playing with Yoongi's hair. Yoongi's hair had gotten too long that Jungkook could actually braid it.

Yoongi's head was on the younger man's lap and the man looked up at him at the question. He flashed him a gummy smile as he answered, "All thanks to pancakes and Kingsman." Jungkook made a noise of disappointment and Yoongi couldn't help but laugh at the pout marring Jungkook's face.

"I already felt better after seeing your face, kook," told Yoongi with a sincere smile. "You're like the Americano to my morning."

Jungkook snorted, "Because I’m bitter?"

Yoongi pulled Jungkook's earlobe as an act of scolding before he uttered, "You're probably the only person on earth who would make a negative interpretation to sweet love metaphors."

Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Okay, enlighten me then."

Ignoring Jungkook's sarcastic tone, Yoongi continued to explain, "As you already aware, my dear sweet love, I can't start the day until I have my cup of black coffee, which, essentially means that I can't function without you."

"Okay," Jungkook dismissed, seemingly unaffected but his ears were red and Yoongi found it endearingly cute. He also saw it as a chance to tease the younger man more just for the fun of it.

Yoongi sat up then, almost bumping his head with Jungkook's jaw but the latter was quick to dodge it. "Do you want to hear another one?" but Yoongi wasn't really asking.

Jungkook glowered. "Don't go there, Yoongs," he threatened.

Unfortunately, all the time spent together made Yoongi immune to the otherwise deathly glare and he wasn't the least bit affected by the empty threat. In fact he found it adorable; how Jungkook resorted to using his doe eyes to punctuate his discontentment towards Yoongi's constant teasing instead of physical violence.

Alas, Jungkook spent the night whining and grumbling about while Yoongi continuously recited one metaphor after another to describe how much Jungkook means to him.

And, well, even if he felt like his head could explode with how red he looked and how hot he felt his whole face were, if it meant Yoongi would feel so much better by teasing him then Jungkook didn't mind.

"Hey, wanna do something fun?"

They were in a grocery store, Jungkook helping Yoongi with his monthly grocery shopping, because Jungkook was the epitome of thrift while Yoongi couldn't care less about over-spending.

Also, Jungkook had texted Yoongi with at least thirty angry emojis earlier on the day because someone had moved in to the apartment next to him few days ago and he couldn't get a good night sleep for since then because his neighbour had thought moving furniture around in the dead of the night was a good idea; the scrapping sound of the floor, and also the sound of nails being hammered into walls had Jungkook covering his ears all night because damn sounds could very well travelled over the thin walls.

"And what's that?" Jungkook asked. He looked sleep-deprived and tired, his non-prescription glasses hiding his prominent dark circles.

There was a mischievous grin on Yoongi's face and Jungkook didn't like the look of it.

"Ninja shopping," Yoongi declared excitedly.

Jungkook made a face. "What?"

Yoongi picked up two baskets as he went on to explain. "The rule is simple. We shop strictly out of other people's carts when they're not looking."

"Not a good idea," Jungkook deadpanned.

Yoongi smirked. "Are you scared, Kookie?"

"Me?" Jungkook scoffed. "Why would I be?" Suddenly, there was fire in his eyes, burning with competitiveness. He was always a little too competitive when faced with challenge; his eagerness to surpass others in any situation was always beyond Yoongi, even as trivial as it could be.

Yoongi grinned. "Thought so." He gave one of the baskets to Jungkook, who took it with a newfound enthusiasm.

"What do I get when I win?"

"What makes you so sure you'll win?"

Jungkook looked at Yoongi as if the latter just asked him a dumb question. "For obvious reasons.”

"Name your price then."

"You'll know eventually."

"I look forward to that." Yoongi then took out a folded paper from his jeans’ pocket. "So, to make things easier, we just shop the things on the list." He held up the to-buy list - which Jungkook had promptly written down before they went out – for the younger man to see. "Whoever is able to pick up more stuff than the other wins. Do you need this?"

"Nope."

"Okay. And," Yoongi added. "To avoid cheating, we both shall be in the line of sight of one another at all times. Understood?"

"Understood," Jungkook echoed.

Yoongi looked down at his watch then looked back up again, stating, "The time limit is 15 minutes."

"Roger that."

"Are you ready?"

Jungkook smirked, "I was born ready."

"Confident. I like that." Yoongi said as he nodded, smirking a little. "Okay, first one in the list-"

Jungkook's eyes trained on a trolley not far from them, the owner too busy looking around the many products in the aisle to notice her surroundings. His eyes quickly scanned the trolley before he pulled a bottle of soy sauce off the trolley so fast Yoongi almost missed it. Jungkook put it inside his basket and turned to Yoongi. "Too slow," he whispered and stalked off.

Yoongi blanched but he regained his composure just as quickly. "Game on," Yoongi smirked and he followed Jungkook’s footsteps, determination high on his heel.

-

"Now you have to grant me a wish," Yoongi said as he handed the cashier lady his credit card.

Putting the last bit of their groceries in the box, Jungkook turned to Yoongi with protruding lips. "Wasn't the purpose of this is to cheer me up?" he grumbled.

Taking his card back, Yoongi gave the younger man a smile, innocent and wicked at the same time. "A rule is a rule, Kook."

"So what is it that you wish for, your highness?"

Yoongi flashed Jungkook the brightest of smile. "You'll know eventually."

-

"You look like a panda. A cute one," Yoongi exclaimed as soon as Jungkook took off his glasses. They were at Yoongi’s apartment, organizing their groceries and putting them in the respective place. They worked with the groceries in sync, Jungkook having had memorized every nook and cranny of the kitchen, where to put which food, utensils and everything that went in the kitchen.

"You can thank my neighbor for it,” Jungkook grumbled as he pulled out the remaining groceries from the box. “I swear every time I tried to sleep they'll start doing God knows what in there. It's like a freaking cycle!"

"If you're so uncomfortable why don't you just move in with me?" Yoongi asked from where he was crouched down in front of the opened fridge.

There was a pregnant pause. They turned quiet for a while; the silence was so intense that one could hear the ticking sound of the clock all the way from the living room. Both of them were frozen on their spot for completely different reasons.

Jungkook was the first to speak. "What?" he managed to say, a little stunned still.

Yoongi then stood up, closing the fridge before he turned around to face Jungkook. He scratched his head, grinning awkwardly. "Yeah? I mean if you want to? And you practically live here anyway so..." Yoongi looked a little shy all of a sudden, cheeks tinged pink, and he looked so endearing biting his lips nervously - much like the time he'd asked Jungkook to be his boyfriend.

It wasn't as if Jungkook would refuse in the first place, so he didn't give the man any more time to wonder and gave him his answer. "No take backs, Yoongs," he warned but he was smiling.

Yoongi couldn't look any happier with the answer, smile blinding and eyes shining as he walked towards where Jungkook was, leaning against the kitchen counter. He pulled himself up onto the countertop. "No promises," he replied in a jest. Jungkook raised a brow. "Can't be sure with the future right?"

Jungkook stopped himself from smiling, concealing his excitement with an expression of nonchalance. "Well, if you don't mind seeing my face every day, I guess why not," he shrugged.

The younger man’s words had Yoongi raising his brow. "I thought we've already established that I like seeing your face in every waking moment."

Snorted, Jungkook replied, "True."

Yoongi smiled. "This is my wish by the way. You moving in with me and us living together."

Jungkook gave the older man a sideway look. "What would you have done if I'd won?"

Yoongi’s eyes disappeared as he grinned widely, boyishly, in the way that made Jungkook’s heart skipped a beat. He wrapped his hands around Jungkook’s shoulders then. "I'd still ask you anyway. And you'd still say yes regardless," he shrugged.

Jungkook smiled as he fixed the collar of Yoongi’s shirt. "This is why I love you," he said, patting Yoongi on the chest as he did so.

"Oh please,” Yoongi rolled his eyes but his lips were curled up. “You only love this face,” he gestured vaguely at his face. “And my great sense of humour," he finished.

Jungkook couldn’t help the laugh that escaped his lips. "You're not funny," he stated. His face then turned serious and he continued in a monotone voice, "And I'm just your human heater."

Yoongi poked Jungkook on the nose affectionately. "I can't live without my human heater you know."

Jungkook’s nose scrunched. "Yeah?"

"Yeap." Yoongi nodded. He then wrapped his legs around Jungkook’s torso, pulling him even closer. "So do you want to move in today? We could go to your apartment now and I'll help you pack-"

Jungkook held a hand up, effectively stopping Yoongi mid-sentence. "Hold your horses, mister. I’m not in the mood to pack today."

Yoongi’s lips protruded in a pout instantaneously. "But you'll sleep here tonight?" he asked, eyes twinkled in hopefulness.

“As you wish, my love," Jungkook shrugged.
