A bit before quirks started appearing, soulmates were a thing. You could communicate by writing -or really anything involving ink- on your arm to your soulmate.
Nobody really knew how or why. It just was.
In All For One's opinion, it would just get in the way. He did not need to be blinded by emotions.
It would be near his prime when he got his first message. 'Hello?', All For One did not respond. He did not want to. He did not need to. But his soulmate was a persistent bastard. They would try again and again to communicate, 'Hello?' 'Hello?' 'Is anyone there?'
At this point, All For One was growing annoyed. Why were they so persistent? Someway, somehow, he ignored it.

It would be a few decades later that All For One got another one. 'helo?'. It was very crooked, like a child had tried writing for the first few times that they attempted to make anything eligible.
Again, he ignored it.
But.
'helo?'
They.
'helo?'
Won't.
'answr?'
Stop.
'pleas?'
Trying.

A decade later, he got another one. 'i know someone is there, please answer me'. This one he could read, no problem. All For One was a bit pissed, not gonna lie. He was a busy man with a crime organization to run, he did not have time for soulmates. All For One wanted to get the point across that he was not interested in soulmates at all.
So he did something he never thought he would do, respond.
'Can i help you?'
'finally you respond! are you okay?'
'Does it matter?'
'yes, yes it does'
'No it doesn't. I wish to get my point across that i am not interested in soulmates. Please do not contact me again.'
'i refuse, you were quiet for the first six years before i tried to say anything and a decade later you Finally said something! im not turning this opportunity down now when i got you to respond'
Six? Six years before they tried to say anything? I had gotten a message long before... whatever they were spewing.
'I do not have time for a soulmate. Don't bother contacting me again.'
They stopped.

Or so he thought.
They would try to get a conversation started with things like 'how are you?' 'whats your name?' 'what do you do for a living?'.
All For One contined to ignore them.

A few more decades past and lo and behold.
'hello?'
Why did luck not like him when it came to soulmates?
Nevermind. He knew the answer.
The writing was crooked. Again.
'Do i need to repeat myself? i said to not contact me.'
'but i havent spoken to you before...'
Sometime when All For One was a hundred thirty something, his mind wandered off to his soulmate for whatever reason. It was not possible for his soulmate to be alive at this time unless they have a immortality quirk or...
Reincarnation?
Its possible, they are not called soulmates for no reason. Right? Its possible. Its possible...
'are you okey?'
Oh. He took to long to respond.
'Yes i am, how old are you?'
It's worth a shot. Though they could be lying-

Huh. Maybe.
They are still young, maybe I could recruit them and shape him up to my successor's needs?
'What are your hobbies?'
Maybe they could support Tomura emotionally, make him more mentally stable perhaps?
'i like heroes! they are so cool with there quirks! i really like all might and eraserhead, they are my faveraites!'
Eraserhead? He isn't very well known.
'How did you hear about Eraserhead?'
'one time when mom and i was going home from grocery shopping at night, mom got accedentaly involved in a gang fight and eraserhead swooped in and beat em up! it was so cool!'
'How much do you know about Eraserhead?'
'his quirk can erase people's quirks if he looks at them but if he blinks or if he cant see them then it deactivets. he basiclly fights quirksless so by erasing his opponents quirk, be puts them on equal grounds. in terms of quirks unless its mutant type though. but that he fights pretty much quirkless is what i admire about him!'
