Chapter Text
taehyung loved spending time with his hyung.
the old grump was rarely free because if he wasn't breaking his back during dance practice, he was cooped up in his studio writing until his hands hurt and his eyes could no longer stay open.
therefore, he savored every moment with him.
yoongi was his favorite hyung, afterall.
he took pride in the fact that yoongi chose to spend time with him the most out of the maknae line. he usually liked challenging him to a few rounds of overwatch, listen to music together, or even eat spicy noodles on friday nights as tradition.
tonight happened to be friday, and taehyung's mouth was watering at the spice stinging his nostrils. he didn't waste a second and shoved a bundle of noodles—which he had carefully made with his chopsticks while telling his hyung every detail on how to get the, "perfect noodle ball! it tastes ten times better!"—into his mouth, the sauce smearing all over his lips. they'd sting later, he knew, but the taste was to die for.
he was so engrossed in eating his meal that he didn't notice how odd his hyung was acting, stirring the noodles around his bowl in a bored manner, staring at his food as if he was lost in a trance.
"you gonna eat, hyung?" taehyung asked, words a bit muffled due to speaking with his mouth full of food. he never cared for manners during dinner time.
"huh?" yoongi shot his head up, looking confused as ever.
"are you gonna eat?" taehyung asked again, swallowing the food before speaking this time.
"o-oh," yoongi breathed, "y-yeah, sorry," and shoved some of his own noodles into his mouth, chewing slowly, not caring about the taste. not as much as taehyung, at least, who was devouring the noodles like it was his last meal.
after a bit of small talk (courtesy of taehyung) and an awkward silence, yoongi finally opened his mouth to speak.
"am i?"
"are you what?" taehyung turned to yoongi, an eyebrow raised and mouth stuffed with noodles.
"am i cold?"
taehyung shrugged and reached to smooth his hand over the the pale skin of yoongi's arm.
"a little, why?"
as his strained voice cut through the silence, a single tear fell from yoongi's eye, slowly trailing it's way to his chin. he didn't bother to wipe it away.
"hyung," taehyung's eyes widened. he moved to place his bowl back onto the coffee table, "you have different ways of showing love. you're...you're not cold. that doesn't make you cold. is that what you mean? where did you hear that from?"
yoongi closed and opened his mouth, unsure of what to say, "i-it's just that...i don't know."
the elder hiccuped, his thoughts scattered all over. he couldn't focus, yet he couldn't get his mind off of it.
"hyung, please stop crying," taehyung whispered, using his thumb to wipe the elder's tears. but it was no use, they came in two then three and he swore dozens.
yoongi only stared.
he thought of the comments from their videos, fansigns, friends, family.
"you don't ever feel anything, do you?"
"i wish yoongi could be the caring hyung like jin is."
"we got you where you are, the least you could do is pretend to not be a heartless asshole."
"how cold can you be?"
"do you have a fucking heart?"
yoongi bit the inside of his cheeks, deciding against spilling such nonsense to one of their youngest. he never listened when they needed simple advice or someone to vent to. because he was just what he feared.
"hyung, please. talk to me," taehyung was begging now, on the brink of tears as well. seeing the elder unresponsive and in tears had his hair standing at the nape of his neck.
"n-nothing, it's nothing."
taehyung wasn't stupid, he wasn't stupid and it just wouldn't take a smart person to figure out that the elder was hurting.
"no, hyung. you can't come here...asking these questions, then cry and say it's nothing because it's not."
"i-i'm sorry, okay? i'm just a bit overwhelmed with promotions and work, i'm just tired," yoongi spoke shakily, taehyung could tell that he tried his hardest to keep his voice from cracking or wavering in the slightest.
"what does that have to do with the question you just asked me?" taehyung pressed, his brows furrowed in confusion.
it was still odd to him to see his hyung cry, it was something he's only witnessed about once in his life. he never let anyone see him at his weakest points because it wasn't like him. he was strong, everyone knew that, but taehyung thought even higher of him because how could you make music and battle mental illnesses and take care of five younger brothers all under so much pressure? taehyung could barely handle his own role.
yoongi's lips moved, but nothing came out. he looked like a gaping fish, almost. taehyung would've smiled fondly if it weren't for the situation they were in now.
"don't worry about me, taehyung. hyung will be fine...speaking of which," yoongi quickly composed himself, wiping the stray tears lingering on his rosy cheeks and taking a bite of the now cold noodles, "don't you have practice with seokseok at 10?"
taehyung scrunched his nose and decided to drop it. to say yoongi was stubborn was an understatement. there was no way he would get anything out of him at this point, especially since he wasn't sobbing like a child anymore.
with a sigh of defeat, the younger male pulled his phone out of his pocket and pressed the home button, revealing the time.
10:16.
"shit! hoseok hyung is gonna kill me!" taehyung shot up, eating as much of the noodles as he could all the while shoving his feet into random sneakers and throwing bottles of water into his sports bag.
yoongi watched him with an amused expression, laughing when taehyung hit his knee on the edge of their coffee table with a loud yelp.
"bye, yoongi hyung! if you don't want your noodles save them for me!" taehyung yelled while swinging the door open, "fuck!" he cursed once again when he checked the time once again and realized it was thirty past ten.
"yah! don't swear!" yoongi scolded in between laughs before throwing a pillow across the living room and knocking the poor boy over.
