Breakfast Nibbles

Work Text:

“I would’ve had breakfast ready, but you fell asleep on my arm and I didn’t want to wake you.”

“Hah?” Katsuki blinked rapidly as sleep fell away in dragging pulls. What was the nerd talking about? Izuku hovered over him, smiling softly. “What?”

“I told you I’d cook, remember? I just didn’t want to move you,” Izuku pressed a soft kiss to Katsuki’s nose. “I know you’ve been working a lot and you came home exhausted. I figured it was fine if you rested a bit longer and I really couldn’t move…”

“S’fine,” Katsuki said groggily, trying to kickstart his brain into working again. He felt like he was missing something, he just couldn’t remember what. “Go ahead.”

He lifted his head high enough for Izuku to slide his arm out from underneath before dropping it back to the couch with a groan. He remembered sitting on the couch next to Izuku after coming home from his shift, remembered mumbling that he needed to shower and crash on their bed, but after that- nothing. He had probably fallen asleep to whatever quirk documentary his nerd boyfriend had had playing in the dark living room. It was just like Izuku to stay up to try and cook breakfast too…

Katsuki glanced at the clock and frowned, starting hard at the numbers glowing bright red in the dark space. “Deku?”

“Hm?” Came the hummed reply from the kitchen.

“Why are you making fucking breakfast at three-thirty in the morning?”

“Because you’re awake, you need to eat, and breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” Izuku called back. There was a pause and a muttered curse, followed by a crash as what sounded like several metal bowels fell from one of the cabinets. “I’m fine!”

Katsuki had already pushed off the couch with a foul curse of his own, now very awake and concerned. He knew what had been eluding him now. Izuku couldn’t cook. The nerd could barely use a rice-cooker without messing something up. He had once actually burned the rice.

“What are you doing to my kitchen?”

“Making pancakes?” Izuku said, but it sounded more like a question than a statement of fact. Metal bowls lay haphazardly on the floor around his feet and there was already fine white flour covering the counters and in Izuku’s hair.

“Making a fucking mess is more like it,” Katsuki grumbled. He kicked one of the bowls out of his way as he moved further into the kitchen, ignoring the clang it made as it skittered into a nearby baseboard. He grabbed Izuku’s wrist and tugged, catching the nerd off balance and into his waiting arms. He pressed closer, trapping Izuku against the counter.

“Kacchan,” Izuku frowned at the interruption to the chaos he called trying to cook. “I’m supposed to be making you breakfast.”

“You are breakfast, nerd,” Katsuki murmured, leaning forward to let his lips brush Izuku’s. “Most important meal of the day, right?”

He swallowed Izuku’s laugh as he took his mouth in a kiss.
