Work Text:

The sudden downpour blurred Hero Deku’s vision. It made his curly hair meet his shaved sides. His hero costume clung to his muscular frame.

Any other day, the number one hero, the Symbol of Peace, would trust battles to his colleagues—especially after doing a 48-hour patrol or if he was on vacation leave.

Unfortunately for him, that day was not today. A group of villains just decided to show up and wreak havoc.

What made Hero Deku really irritated was how the group of villains’ quirks depended on water—and the rain just served as their quirk reinforcement. The small droplets aiming for Hero Deku at the start of the fight turned into speeding bullets that pierced his skin.

His blood soaked through his clothing and eventually mixed itself with the rain.

Hero Deku glanced at his surroundings for back-up but still no sign of assistance.

Clicking his tongue, he charged forward with no particular strategy in mind.

A pink-haired girl replaced the male villain with bullet-barrage quirk and placed her palms on the ground. The road cracked when her quirk collected the puddles to form a flash flood.

On impulse, Hero Deku propped himself at the nearest lamppost and scanned the area for trapped civilians. He sighed when his eyes found none.

“Heroes end today!” the villain with droplet-wielding quirk screamed, snapping Hero Deku back to the battle.

“I’ve heard that line millions of times!” Hero Deku replied from above. Smirking, he used five percent of his quirk and jumped behind the boy. His fist landed on top of the villain’s head, knocking him out.

Startled with how fast her partner was defeated, the pink-haired girl lost control of her quirk and a stream of her waterworks went straight into the cemetery.

The Symbol of Peace almost used his 100% strength if it weren’t for Shouto freezing the flood before it reached the tombs.

More reinforcements followed behind Shouto and just after a few minutes, the police arrived to arrest the villains.

Izuku chuckled, remembering the events that happened earlier. The afternoon sun colored the sky pink.

He really needed to get out of his hero costume if he still wanted to continue his hero work tomorrow. He just recently asked Recovery Girl to get rid of his cold a few days ago, and another favor like that would, well, piss off the old lady too much.

So before the sun set and the cool winds chill him to the bone, Izuku’s fingertips traced the letters in the tombstone.

“Papa, let’s go home?” a little girl’s voice soothed Izuku’s soul. “Uncle Eijirou’s already waiting in the car and I don't need to hide from the bad guys earlier, right?”

“Yup.” Izuku replied, patting his daughter’s head. He stood up and removed the mud in his knees.

“Okay, we’ll go.” he said while curled his fingers with his daughter. “But first, did you get to greet---”

“I did! While Papa was busy fighting the bad guys.”

“Really?” Izuku teased. His daughter’s cheeks puffed. ‘So cute!’

When his daughter realized that he was not believing her, she sighed and went back to the tomb. Placing her small hands over the engraved letters, she smiled and kissed the concrete.

“Happy Father’s Day, Papa!”

‘Happy Father’s Day to us, Kacchan.’ Izuku thought as he laced his fingers once more between their daughter's.

Notes:

Hi! It's me again. Belated Happy Father's Day to all our 2D bois (from all fandoms)!

Challenged myself to write a solid 500-word drabble and went ahead with another BKDK angst (for some reason, I can't make a decent BKDK fluff ifdk why)

Shoutout to Phayte and zuzusexytiems for beta-reading!

Please do tell me what you think! :)
