Work Text:

Shouto lay on the couch in Inasa’s dorm, reading a book and looking about as content as a cat does sitting in a patch of sunlight. His face was softened as his eyes scanned the pages; he read rather fast, probably because he does it often. Inasa didn’t really like to read much, but he liked that Shouto did.

Inasa liked a lot of things about Shouto. He’d never quite understood how he managed to start dating him too, at the end of their second year after so much flirting disguised as bickering that all their friends had begged them to please just confess already . Inasa was glad he did.

Somehow Shouto had said yes, through that icy exterior it turned out he was about as passionate as Inasa, and that only made him fall more.

Inasa sat on the couch next to Shouto’s legs, having put his phone down and was looking to serve as a mild distraction from whatever sci-fi novel Shouto was absorbed in.

“Hey Sh-ou,” Inasa’s little singsong tone seemed to get his attention. He leaned in for a kiss, but Shouto was quicker and pressed a little kiss to the tip of his nose. Then he held his book up playfully like a shield to block Inasa from a second attempt.

“Trying to be cute huh?” Inasa asked, grinning ear to ear, “it’s working.”

Shouto’s face was buried in that book but Inasa could practically hear him rolling his eyes. He was probably blushing a little too. Inasa was proud of the fact that he could make Shouto blush easily.

He fell silent again, looking for another way to distract his boyfriend. Shouto settled back down, eyes on the book again. Only his right eye was really able to pick up the words, Inasa knew that his left was too damaged to see text like that. Shouto had described it once as looking through frosted glass. Inasa tried to imagine it.

His eyes fell on Shouto’s middle, with the way he was laying back and his somewhat tight t-shirt, Inasa could see the soft curve of his tummy. He loved that Shouto was a little bit pudgy, it was unexpected, and rather cute. It also made him very huggable, and Inasa was of course one to take advantage of that.

Right now though, he really, really wanted to touch.

He reached out, not tentatively because he’s Inasa and he never does anything with hesitation, and laid his hand on Shouto’s stomach.

“Yes?” Shouto asked, expectantly, like he’d been tapped on the shoulder. He didn’t even look up from his book.

Inasa chuckled, “Nothing. You’re just soft.”

Shouto barely looked up, chewing on his lip.

“Okay.”

Inasa pressed his fingers down. Shouto made a little ‘mmph’ noise but seemed determined to ignore him. That or he was just too enraptured in his book. This wasn’t working as well as Inasa had hoped. He ran his hand absently over Shouto’s stomach for a moment, watching for even a flicker of something to cross Shouto’s expression. Other than the occasional little shift, nothing.

Inasa decided he needed to up the ante, as it seemed that Shouto was incredibly relaxed and easily able to ignore him. He climbed up on the couch to lay down on top of Shouto, folding his arms over his torso and laying his head down. He sighed happily when his cheek pressed against Shouto’s stomach.

Shouto stared down at him from under his book, face a mixture of confusion and embarrassment, cheeks flushing pink.

“I’m your pillow now?” He asked dryly.

“Yep!” Inasa lifted his head and gave Shouto’s tummy a few affectionate pats with both hands, grinning up at him.

“I see…” Shouto looked away, turning even more red. Maybe he was a little uncomfortable, Inasa worried about that, though he knew that if Shouto didn’t want to be touched he’d have made himself rather clear and Inasa would probably be frostbitten by now.

Still, it was good to make sure.

“Are you okay with this?” Inasa asked, looking up to meet Shouto’s eyes. He absently squeezed Shouto’s side, mentally noting how Shouto’s face twisted like he was about to laugh.

“That tickles.” He said, oddly bland for such a statement. Inasa wanted to actually get him to laugh.

“Mm…” another squeeze.

Shouto swatted at his hands, “What are you up to?”

“Just squeezing your belly cuz it’s cute. You’re so soft!” Inasa said, burying his face into the front of Shouto’s t-shirt.

“It’s...” Shouto trailed off, as if lost in thought. He didn’t look at Inasa, not directly, his head was turned so that Inasa looked mostly at his left half, at the brilliant blue of his left eye and the scarred skin around it. Inasa reached up to brush some locks of red hair behind his ear.

“Do you want me to stop?”

Shouto hesitated, his left hand traced Inasa’s wrist, leaving a very slight warmth against his skin.

“No…”

Inasa lit up, grinning.

“I’m glad!” Then he slipped his hand under Shouto’s shirt to pull it up and began to tickle him, digging his fingers into his sides. He hoped he’d never forget the little shriek Shouto made in response. Shouto couldn’t go far, and under Inasa’s weight the most he could do is try and squirm away, however unsuccessfully.

Inasa kept going, both hands occupied with grabbing at Shouto’s stomach, and Shouto immobilized by laughing too hard. His laugh made Inasa smile, it always did.

Once Inasa decided to let up, leaving Shouto breathless, he gave him a smug grin. He’d accomplished his goal.

“I knew I’d instantly regret my decisions.” Shouto said wryly.

“I can stop you know.”

“I didn’t say you had to.” Shouto said. Inasa realized that Shouto must like what he was doing and was just being shy about it.

He leaned his head down and he felt Shouto tense. He chuckled, and went to press a kiss to his stomach. When he looked up at the stunned expression on Shouto’s face, the way he was blushing, down to his neck, and  a little bit of steam rose from his left side. Inasa felt like he’d achieved what he set out to do.

He kissed him again.

“‘Nasa.”

“Mmm, Yeah?” Another kiss.

“You’re really into this aren’t you?” Shouto looked away pointedly. Inasa could feel that his left side was taking over and bringing his temperature up. Even if Shouto tried to hide his emotions, his quirk was good at betraying them.

“I just think you have a cute belly.” Inasa said, “It’s so plushy…”

“Thank you?”

Inasa laid his head back down.

“And warm. But I think that might be your quirk.”

“Probably.”

Inasa was silent, for once, enjoying the comfort of laying on top of his boyfriend. He could sleep like that, if Shouto would let him.

“Inasa.”

“Yes?”

Shouto bit his lip, a little puff of steam rising from his cheek.

“I uhh…” he paused, looking defiant, “I’m not really… used to this. ”

Inasa looked up, a huge smile on his face.

“It’s okay! It’s not like I know what I’m doing.” he said, “I’m just trying to show you that I like you, in any way I can.”

“However unusual…” Shouto seemed to finish his statement, but he was smiling a little too. Inasa moved up so that he was able to kiss him, just quick kiss. It was Shouto that grabbed his face and pulled him in for a much longer, much more passionate kiss.

When he pulled back, Inasa was a little red in the face too. Shouto reached for his book, abandoned on the floor next to the couch. He picked it up and opened it.

“Can I get back to my book now?” he asked.

“Can I stay here?” Inasa asked, laying his head back down. Shouto looked down at him, smiling.

“Sure.”
