Work Text:
"Thanks for the hard work, Chuuya!" Kouyou waved him goodbye and Chuuya waved back with a tired smile. It was a long day full of work and finally, he could leave this stress behind for a few days thanks to a new coworker filling the desperately throbbing gap in their roster. This extended late shift was annoying as fuck because like ten of their costumers had nonsense complaints which could be solved easily with a few words but they needed to discuss the hell out of him to get discounts of any sorts. With a deep sigh, he opened the door for stuff only. He changed from his working uniform clothes into some more comfortable ones - a tank top and shorts - and the moment he was ready, the door opened behind him.
"Oh, good evening, Nakahara." Hirotsu greeted him with his deep voice. "It's rare to see you in the stuff room at the shift change."
It was true. Usually, he was still working until his coworker was ready for work. "Good evening, Hirotsu-san," Chuuya greeted back and took his backpack out of the locker.
"How are your studies? Everything okay?" Hirotsu switched out of his clothes and into the same uniform Chuuya wore a few minutes ago.
"Yeah, you really helped me out back then!" Chuuya grinned and scratched the back of his head.
Hirotsu turned around and bowed slightly with his head. "Very pleased to hear that." He closed the last buttons of his white button-up shirt. "How was your date with Tachihara yesterday?"
The blush crept into his face. "That wasn't a date! I just met up with him for our partner project."
"Oh, is that so?" Hirotsu chuckled like he knew more about the situation and Chuuya's blush deepened because he fell right into the trap. "What's your love life doing? You're twenty-two years old and I never heard you talking about-"
"I need to go!" Chuuya interrupted Hirotsu before he could talk even more. Okay, maybe he was single since he was born and had never kissed anyone - not even as a dare but that didn't mean his coworkers needed to interfere. Especially because Tachihara was a really good friend of him and shouldn't be the target the teasing about his non-existent love life.
"Be careful on your way home. You'll never know what lurks in the dark!"
Chuuya rolled his eyes at that comment. He may not be the tallest man on earth but he had a black-belt and was capable of defending himself. "I'll be!", he answered nevertheless. By the time the glass door fell shut behind him, it was already pitch black outside. A blanket of smog covered the sight of a clear night sky and with a deep sigh, he started his way home. He hated his part-time job at the Air Port Hotel but they paid well and he needed the money for living. Halfway home he stopped midway and stretched his arms in the air. The night air was fresh but before he could form any thought someone put a hand on his shoulder. Without even thinking about his actions for a second Chuuya threw them over his shoulders and with an aching sound the other person crashed on the hard ground.
"Ow, ow, ow. Are always so brutal to strangers?"
Chuuya got in a defensive pose and squeezed his eyes trying to see who was there. The male voice didn't sound acquainted but it felt familiar to hear it. "Sorry, but it's your mistake to come up from behind without a warning word." After all, he stepped closer to the stranger with his phone in one hand and the flashlight widget turned on. The person in front of him - sitting now on the ground - seemed to have the same age as Chuuya and a frizzy brown mop of hair. A strange feeling rushed through his body. He couldn't specify it but it was like he knew that person already for a long time and just forgot about his existence. Looking closer at him, Chuuya saw that his clothes were dirty and his face was covered in dirt too. "What do you need anyway?" He reached out with the other hand to help him up.
With a bright smile that frizzy hair guy angled his head and smiled at Chuuya with pearly-white teeth. He looked innocent like a child asking for whipped cream with extra sugar sprinkles as a dessert. "Do you know a place where I can stay a night?"
Working at a hotel it should be the first thing that came to his mind but it didn't even occur to him. For a few seconds, he just stared at the other man without answering.
"Did you-"
"I got your message!" Chuuya interrupted the man. "If you want- I mean- I can take you with me for a night?" He slapped himself for already thinking where this man could sleep. He lived with his friend Atsushi in a shared apartment to save money and it was better than living alone. Though.. Atsushi had the early shift in the café he worked at tomorrow so he was probably already asleep and wouldn't be much of a help.
A bright smile appeared on his face and Chuuya couldn't look away as fast as the blush rushed into his face and his heart skipped a beat. "Really?"
Chuuya rolled his eyes - not because of that man's reaction - okay maybe that too - but more because he already knew his own answer before he needed to vocalize it. "Only for that one night, okay?" He helped the man up from the ground. "Because I'm sorry for that." Chuuya scratched the back of his head. "You just surprised me." Why did he even apologize? It was still his fault for that sneaky attack from behind.
Frizzy hair gave a high and clear laugh that let Chuuya's heart skip a beat again. Maybe two or three beats were skipped. It felt so familiar hearing it and that confused Chuuya a lot. "To be honest I thought you were a girl from behind."
A girl? "That's even worse! Are you a pervert?" Chuuya doubted his own decision more and more. That was probably the worst decision he ever made.
The man laughed again, "You don't complain about being mistaken for a girl?", dusted himself down and reached his hand out. "I'm Dazai Osamu. Nice to meet you."
With a frown Chuuya looked at the hand of Dazai, ignoring the girl-stuff. "The same name as that famous Japanese author?" He had all of his books in his bookshelf and was currently working on an essay about him for his university class. "Oh-" He took the other man's hand and looked up to him. He was taller by a head but pretty slim for his height. "I'm Nakahara Chuuya."
Dazai's eyes widened the moment Chuuya asked about him having the same name as that author and he looked surprised at him for a moment before Dazai got his neutral facial expression back. "Yeah, same name. Do you read his works?"
"Yeah! I love them a lot!" Chuuya's eyes began to glitter like a he would look at cute kitten videos. "Did you read them, too?" Taking the lead to his home, with a short stop at the next Conbini, he looked back to Dazai. "Come on!" It was late and he wanted to go home already. He had a ten-hour shift on his back and all he wanted was to buy and eat some takeout, shower the work off his body and go straight to bed for tomorrow's morning class.
With a moment of hesitation, Dazai followed him and could easily hold the pace Chuuya walked. "I read them but I didn't know a chibi like you could understand them."
"That has nothing to do with my height!" Chuuya kicked him and turned left into the other street.
Dazai followed him wordlessly for a moment. "Then.. what's your favourite book of him?"
"Ningen shikkaku," Chuuya answered without hesitation. "It's marvellous and I read it like - I don't know - hundreds of times." And that was not even an exaggeration. It was a book he treasured the most and also the starting point of his essay about the author. Chuuya was caught in his own sparkling literature world that he didn't recognize the fond smile he got from the other staying in a huge contrast to his words.
"You speak highly of someone who committed suicide."
Chuuya sighed. "No one is flawless." He stretched his arms and yawned. "I wish I could read the end of Guddo Bai."
Dazai didn't answer anymore.
The rest of the walk to the conbini was in silence. Chuuya made some mental notes about his essay and hoped he didn't forget about them on his way home. In the conbini, he took one of the ready to eat bento boxes and asked Dazai if he wanted one too, but he shook his head as an answer. Chuuya took also some blank yoghurt and cereals for breakfast and walked to the checkout. "Oh, good evening, Chuuya-san,", he was greeted by the cashier. "Hey." Chuuya smiled at her and put everything out so Gin could scan the products. With a sceptical gaze, she glanced over to Dazai for a few times. "He's a fellow student - I'll help him with his study report." He wasn't sure why he lied at her face but she just shrugged her shoulders. "A small present from me for you~" With those words, she threw a small paper box and a tube into the bag and gave it to Chuuya. "Make it safe." She looked up to Dazai behind him. "Don't be too hard on him."
Not before he went outside and saw the smirk on Dazai's face, he realized what Gin really implemented with her words and what exactly she threw in his bag next to his dinner and breakfast. His body froze and his face felt hot and was probably red like a tomato. And to make it even worse he had thanked her for it without thinking twice. Still feeling the smirk on him he was also pretty sure Dazai had his fun with the situation. "You-You know.. it's not like- like- that's not the reason I let you stay, okay?" His voice broke at the end of the sentence and he wished - wished really deeply - for a cliff he could jump off right now. Why was everyone messing around with him?
"It's not like I expected that, Chuuya." How casually each syllable of his name rolled over his tongue gave Chuuya the chills. But again something familiar rushed through his brain hearing his name from that man.
"Don't-Don't just use my given name.." It was a weak response because in his head he still had the images of what Gin thought he would do this night and he couldn't shut off his mental cinema. Dazai kissing all kind of spots on his body, licking and biting his nipples while one of his hands wandered to his-
"Earth on Chuuya~!" Dazai waved with a hand in front of Chuuya's face and Dazai's face was pretty close to his.
The worst was the images in his head felt so real- so enjoyable. He looked up at Dazai and swallowed his thoughts down. "Sorry. We-We can go." Without any further ado, he took the lead to go home with Dazai. Maybe he should open one of his wine bottles to face that situation - or better not if he wanted to face Dazai the next morning and not making a fucking one-night-stand out of it. The other man was talking about random stuff Chuuya couldn't concentrate on and hoped he didn't agree to anything while not listening at all. At the front door, he stopped and put his key out of his small backpack and opened the door for them. "I live with a friend so behave yourself," Chuuya warned Dazai and opened his postbox for their apartment - nothing was inside so probably Atsushi already put the post out.
"I always behave properly."
Again a wave of familiarity washed over him and with a gaze that said 'Are you fucking serious?' Chuuya turned around to Dazai and pushed the button to summon the lift. "If not, I'll kick you out quicker than you can say-"
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?"
He raised an eyebrow at him. "Whatever." Chuuya stepped into the lift and turned around, pushed the button for the third floor and waited for Dazai to enter. The doors closed behind him a few seconds later.
His apartment was right across the lift so they the moment the doors of the lift opened and they got out of it the automatic lights turned on and he put his apartment key out. He entered it together with Dazai and flicked on the lights. Chuuya slipped out of his shoes and turned around to Dazai. "You-" But his words stuck in his throat. All the dirt on his coat and face wasn't actually dirt like he thought rather it was dried blood and he could see bandages around his neck and wrists. "What? Why didn't you say you're injured?!" Panicking he grabbed the wrist of Dazai and pulled him into the small bathroom. Why didn't he took a closer look at the conbini? Why did Gin didn't say a word at all? Instead she- Chuuya shook the thoughts away.
"Chuuya-"
The person in question scurried in the bathroom and looked for a washcloth and fresh bandages. Also, fresh clothes would be needed. Snappily he turned around to Dazai. Would he suit in my clothes or should I sneak some from Atsushi? Probably both too small. Chuuya thought a moment about it and came to the conclusion that he wouldn't try to wake his friend and that he must have a few larger shirts in his wardrobe he usually used as pajamas. "Come on, get out of those clothes so I can take care of your wounds!" Why was he even wearing a coat in the middle of summer?
Dazai did what Chuuya commanded and slipped out of his coat. With a heavy sound, it fell down on the white floor. "Chuuya, listen!"
Chuuya had finally found some fresh bandages and was standing with a wet washcloth in front of Dazai. "What?" He was antsy and couldn't wait any longer and scrubbed Dazai's face clean.
Turning his head away Dazai tried to get away from the wet thing. "As much as I love you fussing over me like that-" He grabbed his wrist and pulled him against his chest. "That's not my blood, Chuuya and now stop with that!" With his tongue, he licked over Chuuya's neck.
Like a scalded cat the smaller man jumped away and let everything in his hands fall down - goosebumps all over his body. "What the fuck?"
Dazai got up from the sitting position on the tube and walked towards Chuuya who went the same steps backwards until he crashed against the washer. His eyes looked suddenly extremely dangerous and not as childlike as they did a few seconds ago. Chuuya pushed himself against the washer like it would go away and let him more space. He pressed his lips together to a thin line and the moment Dazai was only half a step away from him he tried to push him away. "Dazai-!"
Chuuya's hands against Dazai's upper body, pressing against it with all he had but Dazai didn't move a centimeter away. Instead, he closed the gap between them even more, leaned down and licked again over the skin of his neck, scratching it slightly with his teeth.
Chuuya's body began to prickle and his sweaty hands cramped around a towel laying on the washer. His eyes and mouth squeezed shut and he held on his breath. His heartbeat throbbed loud and fast against his rib cage. The scent of Dazai clouded his senses and thoughts. The pictures came back into his mind.
With a relieved sigh Dazai put some space between them. "You're still a virgin."
Huh? Chuuya cautiously opened his eyes and was perplex. "What the fuck are you talking about?"
Dazai smiled at him. "I can smell it."
What the hell was going on here? Smelling that he was a virgin? I mean, he was right, Chuuya thought, but you can't smell something like that! And why did he seem so relieved about that?! He was speechless. His brain didn't give him words to say and his body didn't react in any way. Chuuya's brain went in offline mode.
With a smirk, he looked at Chuuya and pushed his hand through Chuuya's silky long hair. Single hair strains fell down until he laid his hand on one of his cheeks and cupped it.
The next moment the door to the bathroom opened and Atsushi was about to enter the scene. He blinked a few times and rubbed his eyes if he really saw what he saw. "I am sorry?!" Did he sound confused? Of course, he was. Who wouldn't if you walked in a situation like that? A stranger all over your flatmate. "Chuuya-san?"
"Atsushi-kun! I-I can explain that!" Chuuya pushed Dazai away and looked shocked at his friend. "I found him on the streets all covered in blood!" That was not exactly the truth but it wasn't a lie either. At least it was closer to the truth than what he had told Gin.
Dazai got closer to Chuuya and looked angrily at the man destroying the moment. "Chuuya was so nice to help me out, so don't mind our business."
A cold shiver ran down Chuuya's back. Those words sounded so full of hatred that he couldn't believe his own ears. "Dazai!" He grabbed his arm and jogged it slightly. "It's okay. He's the friend I told you about." He wasn't sure where those feelings came from but he didn't like the thought that Dazai could hate Atsushi. The mere thought let his stomach twist uncomfortably.
Atsushi just stood there not knowing what is happening in front of his own eyes. It's not like he had a problem if Chuuya brought someone with him because they had no rule forbidding this but this man scared the shit out of him right now. "I-I just wanted- I need to-"
Chuuya sighed. Poor Atsushi walking into a scene like that even he just needed to go to the toilet. "I'm sorry," Chuuya apologized to Atsushi and took Dazai's wrist to pull him into the kitchen. He was kind of relieved that Atsushi's room was on the opposite and he didn't need to cross this room to get back. He wasn't sure if he could face his friend right now. "What was that? Why were you so hostile in front of him?" Brusque he let go of Dazai and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"I won't share you."
Chuuya raised an eyebrow. "Share? What the fuck? We know each other maybe half an hour!" Maybe he wasn't the right person to scold him thinking back to his thoughts in front of the conbini.
Dazai averted his gaze and looked around in the kitchen. "Hmm."
"Don't 'Hmm' me here!" He walked towards Dazai and pulled him closer on his collar. "He is a friend, okay? If you harm him in any way I guarantee for nothing."
Turning Chuuya around and pushing him against one of the counters - Chuuya groaned racked with pain and with widened eyes he looked up to Dazai. Before he was able to process what happened, Dazai already licked over his neck. "What-" But his words were cut off by Dazai pressing his lips against Chuuya's. Both of his hands cupping Chuuya's face and with his body pushing him further against the counter. The handle pressed against the smaller ones back; his fingers clung to Dazai's bloody shirt. Chuuya's heart ached and the moment he started to kiss him back, tears flowed down his cheeks. Dazai licked the salty tears away, wandered down his neck and bit it slightly, opened his mouth and Chuuya could feel the breath of him.
"Stop!" Chuuya pushed his face with his hands away and tasted blood on his lips. It was his own. With a confused gaze, he looked at Dazai. Was he confused about getting kissed by Dazai or by himself for kissing back? "What..? Why..?" He couldn't form a question. He didn't know what he wanted to ask anyway. What was happening here? Why did he kiss a stranger? Why did it felt so painful and familiar at the same time?
His thoughts were cut off by the sound of a falling bag on the ground. Chuuya looked at the door and saw Atsushi. Probably both shocked on the same level.
"I-I only wanted to give you-" He averted his gaze and didn't dare to look closer to Chuuya and Dazai and how exactly they were pressed against the counter. "your groceries," were the last words he brought over his innocent lips before he fled out of the kitchen in his room. Only a second later Chuuya's stomach growled loud for food.
With a sigh, Dazai let go of Chuuya and let himself down on a kitchen chair, shaking his head. He murmured something Chuuya couldn't understand.
Chuuya held his stomach and his cheeks burned of embarrassment. "I- You'll go shower and I'll warm up my food." He grabbed Dazai's collar and threw him into the free bathroom. "You can use my towel and my washing stuff." He closed the bathroom door behind himself and pressed his lips together for a moment. "The red one!", he called to Dazai before getting back into the kitchen, picking up the bag Atsushi let fall down and put it on the kitchen table. His thoughts swirled around Dazai. What was happening here? Why did he enjoy his touches and closeness so much that his brain stopped working? Why did he have so vivid imagination about them? They felt so real like- like- not that he could compare it to anything. The thought left a feeling of wretchedness mixed up with loneliness he never felt before.
After his food was heated he sat on one of his kitchen chairs and picked only a few rice corns up to eat, let the meat fall down and poked in the food. He felt the hunger but at the same time, his stomach already was full to bursting. His head was supported on his knuckles. His thoughts spun around Dazai again. He couldn't deny that he was attracted to his looks. His smile and laugh made his heartbeat skip a beat only imagining it in his head. He wanted to feel if his hair really was so fluffy how it looked like. His warm and still dangerous eyes lingering on his face, his tongue on his neck, licking and biting sensitive spots. How far would they have gone without Atsushi interrupting? Did he even want to know that? Though, he wasn't that desperate to- to do it with any obscure person he met. His brain probably was overworked because it was the first time someone was that close to him.
"Chuuya~"
Startled the person in question turned around and at the same moment, he regretted it. Dazai had only his red towel around his hips and his hair was dripping wet. A few drops running down is upper body, getting Chuuya's attention. His eyes followed them down until they were soaked up by the towel. Then he looked back to his upper body and swallowed. It was completely naked and everything was covered with scars. At least he didn't lie that this wasn't his own blood. Everything looked just badly healed but not fresh.
"You see something you like?" Dazai asked with a vicious smile on his face and got closer to Chuuya. "I mean, I wanted to ask for some spare clothes but if you want-"
"I'll get something!" Chuuya jumped up from the chair and with a crash, it fell to the floor. Within seconds he was in his room next to the kitchen and in front of his wardrobe looking for a shirt and shorts Dazai could wear. Looking so intensively at him made at least clear that his shirts had to suit him because he was a skinny bastard. Maybe the shirt was a bit short on him but it should do its purpose for now - for the only night anyway.
He walked back into the kitchen and gave the clothes to Dazai. "Do you- I don't know? Should I help you replace the bandages?" He could imagine that it was hard showing those scars he was obviously hiding under all those layers of fabric. Though he wouldn't have enough to cover all of his body like a mummy.
"Chuuya.." Dazai's voice sounded aroused and slightly out of breath. He licked a drop of water away from his lips. "Chuuya." He repeated his name with the same thrill in each syllable than the first time. "I'm hungry."
Frowning he searched for an answer in Dazai's face. His eyes were clouded and to be honest, that wasn't exactly the answer he expected. "You can have my leftovers..? I didn't eat much anyway and I can go show-"
Chuckling Dazai shook his head. He kissed Chuuya's lips again for a brief moment before he could finish his sentence and pulled him into a tight hug against his chest. The next moment Chuuya slumped down in his arms.
A moan escaped Chuuya and his face flushed red while he was hiding it behind his hands. His whole body felt hot and he whined under Dazai's bite on his neck. To suppress another moan he bit on his lips until blood dropped out of it. The spots where Dazai's fangs pressed into his sin and sucked his blood burned so incredibly hot that he couldn't say if it was still comfortable or not. Sweat run over his face and the throbbing sound of his blood was the only sound he could hear right now. Dazai was the only thing he could feel right now. But so incredible as it sounded, his whole body felt hot and he would do everything to let that stop because he just couldn't bear it any longer without moaning another three or four times. It was embarrasing. Chuuya was unable to compare what he felt to anything else but he didn't want it to stop. One of his hands dug in Dazai's hair and pressed him more against his neck. His other hand clung on his shirt again otherwise he felt like he couldn't take those overwhelming feelings. "Dazai- Ah-"
"Chuuya. I'm sorry. I-I just couldn't hold back anymore."
All energy had left Chuuya but with a smile, he fell against Dazai's chest without any other action or word.
"You have to promise me something, Dazai," Chuuya said and reached with his hand for Dazai's cheek. He coughed blood. A smile on his face.
Dazai held him close to his chest and tears flowed down his face. "Chuuya, you can't leave me!"
With a half-smile Chuuya pinched Dazai's cheek with his index and thump. "You always complain about how I annoy you-"
"No, Chuuya - I don't let you die here." Dazai tried to stop the bleeding wound on his chest but it was impossible. Chuuya already lost way too much blood. It was all over their clothes and painted everything around them in a beautiful yet so dreadful colour.
Still smiling he looked at Dazai and enjoyed the closeness. "You stubborn asshole." It was weak and more blood was coughed up.
"Don't talk, Chuuya." The words were almost not understandable because of all the sobbing. Tears found its way down and fell on Chuuya's face. One on his lips and he tasted the saltiness yet it was so sweet.
"Then shut the fuck up and promise me already that we'll meet in another world again."
"Chuuya..."
The smaller one wanted to sigh but instead, he just coughed up more blood. It hurt so much that every spoken word was like a scratching needle down his throat. "Would you listen at least once to my wishes?"
"I always did."
"I know." Chuuya smiled and caressed Dazai's cheek before his arm fell down next to his body. "Then do it one last time."
"No.."
"O-sa-mu."
"Don't pull your Joker card, Chuuya."
"I love you, Osamu."
Maybe it was wrong telling those words the first time while dying but it felt right.
Bathed in sweat Chuuya woke up. His mouth felt gross and his lips were chapped while his hair felt like it was glued to his face. He tried to sit up to get something to drink but something weighed him down. He wasn't able to see something because it was pitch black in the room. What has happened? His head hurt and turning around chased a pain through his neck and down the rest of his body.
"You're awake?" A kind of familiar voice asked and he tried to process why someone else was with him in the bed. "You slept fulfil." Dazai wanted to get some space between them but Chuuya grabbed his shirt and hid his face even he couldn't see anything anyway.
"Did I wake you?" He could feel how Dazai's body stiffed. The memory of yesterday's evening rushed through his head and let Chuuya blush. The moment Dazai had sucked his blood it felt all so unreal now and at the same time, he never felt so good. He felt alive and dead at the same time.
"What have you dreamt?" Dazai asked and stroked through Chuuya's sweat-soaked hair.
Clothing his eyes Chuuya remained silent. His brain worked around the fact that Dazai was a vampire. He was comforted by a freaking vampire after he sucked his blood. Probably he should be afraid, but he wasn't. He still felt safe and good next to Dazai. What was strange, too. Because he knew him maybe half a day depending on how late it was right now. "You know?" Chuuya kept quiet unsure about how to tell the things he saw with words but the touching of Dazai felt comfortable and encouraging."I dreamt about you - or like - I don't know. I think it was about us." The dream had felt so real, more like a memory than a dream and he remembered every moment of it more vivid than what he ate last week.
Dazai spooned him and intertwined their fingers and sleep overcame Chuuya again. The warmth of Dazai's body and the blanket around him lulled him into sleep before he was able to here Dazai's answer.
An hour or two later he woke up again - not due to a nightmare rather he felt Dazai's finger stroking his hair. He was with his back to him and listened to the sound of silence for a while, before he spoke up, his lips hurtful dry. "I died in your arms." A few times Chuuya blinked into the darkness before he stretched his sore fingers and his other limbs. He rolled himself on his back to take a brief look at Dazai. Not that he could see anything. It still had to be in the middle of the night because no sunlight came through his window. At least he doesn't have to work tomorrow, classes were easier to skip - Odd that that thought came into his mind now of all times. Chuuya turned his head around and looked at Dazai. "I mean, I could drop some pretty sappy twilight lines now about you being a vampire - but to be honest, I'd rather love to hear your story."
"What makes you so sure that I'll share it with you?"
"Nothing, it's just a feeling." Chuuya closed his eyes for a short moment and then he sat up. "What was that, Dazai? It didn't feel like a dream. You can't tell me you don't know anything."
"Just promise me, you will believe my story."
"Hmm." Chuuya shrugged his shoulders. "Is it stranger than sleeping safe and sound next to a vampire you only know for like- I don't know? twelve hours?"
"Probably."
Chuuya smiled widely and yawned the next moment. "Then you'll have my promise." The word promise triggered his vivid memories of the dream or whatever that was. "It's not like I could complain - I mean, I took you in without questioning anything beforehand."
Dazai shook his head in disbelief and began to tell what Chuuya wanted to hear: "Though, yeah - I'm a vampire. But please forget about all the folklore and twilight-stuff. I think the only thing we have in common is our relish for blood."
Chuuya pouted. "So no glitter in the sun or changing into a bat?"
"No." Dazai deadpanned. "Someday I can tell you all about vampires but I think that can wait."
A few moments of silence fell between them.
"The scene you dreamt about was real - though, it was our last moment together."
This gave Chuuya the collywobbles. He was pretty sure he was alive and not dead. Then he could feel the hand of him on his head and he leaned against Dazai's shoulder.
"Back then I was a human too but the moment you died I wanted to follow you, screw the promise I just gave you and kill myself. It was not important how I died but before I could even form a coherent thought, I was found by a dear friend of us - Yosano Akiko. She was a vampire all along and she turned me into one, too. I hated her for that until she told me about your ancestry and the opportunity to meet you again."
Chuuya couldn't follow the words but he felt how Dazai was back in that time.
"You were a shitty royal and I was just a commoner." Dazai swallowed. "But we fell in love and lived a romance like Romeo and Juliet - all in love dying due to hatred of our families."
"Don't tell me I'm the part of Juliet?" Chuuya looked scandalized at the vampire next to him.
Dazai laughed but it was more bitter than happy. "Your role is more tragic because you died for real in my arms."
"Yosano was a well-trusted doctor back then so she could easily blend in between humans and with her help, I researched you- or better your blood. It took a few years," His years sounded like he was talking about more than just a few years. "And I was about to give up and then you stand suddenly in front of me. I'm talking about reincarnation, Chuuya. I did everything the last seven decades so I could be with you again and now you're here in front of me and every move you make - every breath you take makes me ache so much because I don't know how I should act around you. I want to be close to you and you seemed to feel- I don't know? okay." That was definitely the wrong word, Chuuya thought but didn't say it out loud. "around me what made resisting even harder. Yosano will probably kill me for telling you all of it." He pushed his hand through his brown hair and didn't dare to look at Chuuya.
"You know? You could at least hide your relief about me being still a virgin." That was really the only thing Chuuya came into mind right now.
"But Chuuya~" Dazai whined. "It made me happy that no one had touched your beautiful skin."
A sudden wave of exhaustion rushed through Chuuya and he closed his eyes. "I still don't get everything. I mean, I do believe you but I- that maybe sound weird but at least that explains I'm not going crazy feeling so- so comfortable around you."
"It's okay, Chuuya." Dazai leaned his head against Chuuya's. "I'm the one who's no longer human."
A few moments it was silent between them again.
"Can I ask something selfish?"
"Hmm?"
"Please stop living under one roof with a weretiger."
Chuuya frowned and got a bit space between them to look at Dazai even though he could only see his silhouette in the dark. "What are you talking about?"
"Atsushi-kun is not a human and the cashier at the conbini was a vampire too."
Pure disbelief was in Chuuya's eyes.
"And I want to ask another selfish thing."
Chuuya answered with silence.
"I contacted Yosano when you slept and she will come to Yokohama in two weeks and-" Dazai swallowed and averted his gaze even though he was sure Chuuya couldn't see him. "I know you know me only for a short time but I want you to think about it - about becoming a vampire."
"Can't you do that?" Chuuya asked.
"No, I can't. My ability doesn't allow me to turn others into vampires."
"Hmm."
"Is that your only concern?" Dazai raised an eyebrow. "I think you're more of Bella than Juliet."
"Fuck off," Chuuya hissed, "I'm neither of them and if you ask so selfish stuff you should prove that it would be worth." To be honest Chuuya's head was overwhelmed with all the facts and he really needed those two weeks to proceed with everything. Not that he had something against it in the first place but at least he can profit a bit out of it now if Dazai really tries to prove it.
"Fourteen days from now and I'll make you fall in love with me within the half."
"You're sure of yourself, aren't you?" That he already was on a good way to achieve that in only one day he didn't need to know.
"No, Chuuya. I'm just sick of suffering. What are seven more days compared to seven decades?"
"At least tell me everything about your crazy fantasy world. I mean vampires and weretigers?"
Dazai laughed. "You're always concerned about the stuff no one would expect."
