Epilogue

Summary:

Zhao Yun Lan refuses to lose the bet.

Notes:

SPOILERS! Fic set literally a few seconds/mins after the TV series. I posted this at tumblr, but it has been added to. But it is the same fic, just expanded on.

Work Text:

Shen Wei’s form slowly disappear - particles dissembling into the cosmos, and Zhao Yun Lan can’t lose. Pain is constant and never ending, he ignores it.

He spend what feels like seconds and aeons learning the limit of his soul. He can feel the flux lines and the evolution of time surfaces. He feel the death of stars, the birth of universes, and he learns. He twist and bind and manipulate world lines.

Time is an abstract, is stationary, is ever moving, and he can punch through space and reality. All the while he feel his soul burning, expanding, taking form of exotic matter. He think he has been here for a second, a millenia, and he can remember the curve of a ear, the slope of a shoulder and eyes that’s red and near to tears. Shen Wei. Then the lines unravel like ribbons, all leading him to one singular point - Shen Wei. He is there the day Shen Wei is born, red and squirming and the first of the twin, he is there in all the between, and he is there with Shen Wei at the end.

He grasp and fold flux lines and tangle world lines, using his exotic matter, and tries and tries until he can pinpoint the nano second Shen Wei takes his last breath. Then, he freezes every atom and hold off time. He opens a tunnel and wills Shen Wei to his side.

There is blood, bruising and trauma. But they are just atoms and particles. He can manipulate mass, close the trauma, create blood. Only then does he let time touch Shen Wei, all the while sending pulses of electricity to his heart. One second, two second, and then he feel the soft pumping of Shen Wei’s heart, the blood flowing through his body, neurons reattaching itself sparking against one another. A gasp, and eyes blinks open, looking at him.

“I know it was your bet,” said Zhao Yun Lan, grin in place, “But I think I win.”
