Summary
Zhu Hong and Li Qian travel to a remote Chinese town to help with a seemingly cursed building.
This fic takes place in a steampunk-xianxia AU, employing the classic trope of a rural town calling on specially skilled strangers to help them handle a threat. While steampunk is often set in the American west, this fusion is set in 19th-century Haixing.
Zhu Hong is a renowned cultivator and swordfighter, known as the Serpent. Li Qian is a powerful magician schooled in many different areas of supernatural arts; she is known as the Sorceress. It is briefly mentioned that they were both trained by, and still deeply respect, Shen Wei. They live together on a private steam train and go wherever they are needed.
