Chapter 1: Shigaraki Tomura - One

Chapter Text

Soulmates. Everyone had one. They were the one person in the world who could complete you body and soul. It was a ludicrous idea that Tomura did not like to dwell on. No one had ever cared for him besides Master, and no little pathetic saying about destiny would change that.

Still, he found himself stopping in front of the body length mirror every time he rose out of bed in the morning. Most days, he would catch his own image, his lanky body, pale white skin and sunken red eyes reflecting back to him in the glass. Then, there were those rare occasions that he would see you looking back at him with a content smile on your face as you adjusted your outfit for the day, completely unaware that he could see you.

You always wore bright, happy shades of rainbow colors that contrasted with his same old wardrobe of gray and black. Your hair would be in different styles, sometimes framing your face with the soft looking tresses and other times drawn back to broadcast your vibrant features. Your eyes shined with positivity, your lips glew with light red gloss, and your cheeks were dimpled with happiness. In the end, you always looked so alive.

And, he hated it.

Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. So much that he wanted to break the glass as if you would shatter along with it. Every time he tried—and believe him, he has—he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He’d just get a new one anyway, and this dance of will it be you or not every time he blinked would restart.

Tomura scoffed, feeling his heart strain as he broke eye contact with the mirror.

Soulmates...

What an idiotic notion.

In what twisted world would such a beautiful person be stuck with him anyway?
