Summary
Yicheng is almost out of sight behind him when something tumbles out of his sleeve. It's the night-sky obsidian he'd found years ago on his way into the city. A sad smile appears on his face as he bends down to pick it up. Things had been so much simpler back then. Yes, his heart had ached then as well, but it had been a different kind of ache: a dull throbbing in the back of his mind, compared to the chronic fatigue that now wracks his entire body.
Song Lan sighs and vaguely wonders if he could go back to a time where he still had hope. The obsidian shimmers brightly, as if it had understood his question.
