Slip Up - Kiribaku Angst Oneshot

Summary:

Bakugou was panicking. This was unlike him when he was chasing a villain as most of the time he had his partner with him, but this time was different. They were after a villain that had shown up out of the blue, all anyone knew about them was that they were dangerous and that was enough to have the city on lockdown until they were apprehended. A fuck up. One small, simple mistake caused Bakugou and Kirishima to get separated during a mission and everything went to shit.

Notes:

I'm not sure if the warning is correct but like just in case I thought I should add one but like this says angst but let's be honest it's pretty fluffy like really, it's just cute

Work Text:

Bakugou was panicking. This was unlike him when he was chasing a villain as most of the time he had his partner with him, but this time was different. They were after a villain that had shown up out of the blue, all anyone knew about them was that they were dangerous and that was enough to have the city on lockdown until they were apprehended.

But this time he didn't have Kirishima. They had been separated during the attack and all they had managed to work out was that the villain was a she and her quirk was deadly. A quirk that could control metal and move it at her will, and in a dark alley in a crowded city, metal was everywhere.

"Shit," he cursed as he clutched the wound on his side and dragged his probably broken foot on the wet pavement below him, a large hole caused by being stabbed with a large pipe would be considered a deadly injury but what panicked Bakugou the most was not that he was heavily injured but that he didn't know what happened to Kirishima.

They had been separated when she had thrown a car at them and they tried to avoid it, Bakugou had pushed Kirishima out of the way and had subsequently been hit by the said car and was sent flying, he felt like he had been sent over 3 streets away and probably had.

"The bitch probably kept that shitty car flying with her quirk..." he mumbled trying to see if he was in the right place, the blood smears on the wet ground and the destruction in the area told him he was back, but there was no sign of that crazy bitch or Kirishima.

So yeah, Bakugou was panicking. He didn't know what to do next, normally Kirishima would have a game plan that wasn't just blow shit up, but this time he had to find Kirishima first. He limped back into the alley and looked around for any sign of the two of them, his eyes scanned the ground and then they slowly traced upwards.

"There." He said, there were large dents in the walls of the two buildings that created the alley, meaning that either Kirishima had used his quirk to climb to safety or the psycho had taken him up there. God he hoped he was right the first time, but it was unlikely as Kirishima's quirk had a limit, one he had reached long ago during the fight before the two were separated.

"You better be alright Shitty Hair..." Bakugou said as he propelled himself up onto the roof using his quirk, he knew doing so would destroy any hope of the element of surprise but getting there quickly was way more important than sneaking up on the stupid bitch.

The sight that met his eyes proved he was right to take the quick approach.

Kirishima was being held against a wall by metal rods pinning him by one of his arms, the opposite leg and his side, as more long jagged metal pipes were pointing at him mere inches away from his bloodied form.

Blood was splattered on the surface behind him and on the floor below him, if Bakugou thought he looked beat up Kirishima looked like he had died 5 times over. His eyes were shut but he was struggling in vain with a pipe that was pressed up against his neck, the dark metal rod looked ready to plunge deep into his flesh at any moment ending his futile struggling at once.

It was clear to Bakugou that Kirishima's quirk had given in completely leaving him defenceless to any attacks, but despite this Kirishima still fought, he refused to give up and that was one of the reasons Bakugou admired the redhead so much, his strong will.

The Villain looked like she was ready to attack, a sick grin plastered on her small face. Bakugou filled with rage, the sight in front of him giving him new energy and power he didn't know he had left,

"AP SHOT: AUTO-CANNON!" He screeched aiming for her head, the villain's smile went from a malevolent grin to a disgusted snarl in a matter of seconds as she jumped out of the way of the rapid-fire. With a wave of her hand she moved the sharp edge away from Kirishima's neck and sent it hurling towards Bakugou who couldn't dodge fast enough, it plunged into his left arm making him cry out in pain.

"K-Kat-suki...!" Kirishima called out pitifully as he reached out towards Bakugou, the other male looked up at him and without thinking used Blast Rush Turbo to propel himself forward, he hit the Villain full force sending her flying into the wall beside them, he then limped as quickly as he could towards Kirishima who was attempting to free himself from the wall.

"Hold on Hair-for-Brains, this might hurt ok?" Bakugou asked looking Kirishima dead in the eyes, the redhead nodded bracing himself for whatever Bakugou was about to do, Bakugou bent down and took in a sharp breath and placed his hand on the rod pinning Kirishima's leg to the wall,

"Ready?" Bakugou asked looking up at Kirishima, concern in his eyes, Kirishima tried his best to give Bakugou a witty grin but all he could manage was a weak half smile that looked more pained than anything,

"Sure..." he said his voice low from lack of energy, Bakugou pulled the pipe out in one tug and almost straight away Kirishima gasped and tensed up his leg, the guilt was suffocating poor Bakugou as he moved to the pipes on his arm and his side,

"Ok Ei, I gotta pull both these fuckers out, you ready?" Bakugou asked his voice soft and sympathetic, Kirishima nodded gingerly tensing up already, Bakugou closed his eyes and pulled, Kirishima cried out in pain as he fell from the wall and onto Bakugou who had thrown the pipes aside.

The two hugged each other with their good arms leaving their injured arms dangling beside them, Bakugou's shoulder was soon damp with tears from Kirishima, who was most likely crying from the pain of having the pipes pulled out. Bakugou gently stroked Kirishima's head smoothing his hair damp from the blood,

"You'll be fine, we'll be fine..." Bakugou said, Kirishima nodded slowly. His eyes were closed and his breathing was shallow, Bakugou gently rested Kirishima's head in his lap and continued to smooth his hair in more of an attempt to calm himself than Kirishima.

But it wasn't over yet, the villain shifted from where she was lying, Bakugou's head whipped around and he carefully lowered Kirishima on to the ground, he stood up and got ready for another AP Shot, he had to lean against the wall to stable himself.

"Heheheheh..." She said standing up shakily, Bakugou raised his hand aiming for her head, she regained her composure and her smirk,

"Worthless..." She muttered, Bakugou looked at her confused, he was watching her every move, but he was focusing on her too much and the things around her,

"What?" Bakugou asked his voice dripping with venom, she smirked once again her finger twitching, Bakugou watched her even more carefully expecting a pipe to come flying at him head-on, but little did he know behind him one of the pipes he had pulled from Kirishima was scraping along the floor.

"You... are.... all fAKES!" She screamed, but before he knew what was happening the pipe hit him on the back of the head knocking him onto the ground beside Kirishima who was looking even worse than before.

"Shit..." Bakugou muttered, the girl was now making a horrible noise that sounded like a mix of screeching and manic cackling, he looked up to see that she was standing on the edge of the roof holding her arms up to the heavens like she was about to give a great speech to the world.

Bakugou had had enough, he raised his hand and aimed for her head, this time she wasn't concentrating on him so he had a clear shot, she opened her mouth to speak but Bakugou didn't give her a chance, he shot and hit dead on, the villain made a gurgling noise as she toppled off the roof, Bakugou dropped his hand down as the sound of the body hitting the ground with a sickening thud signified that they had done it. They had defeated the villain that had caused so much fucking trouble,

"Hey... Eijiro..." Bakugou muttered trying to shuffle around so he could face Kirishima, he slowly dragged himself over to the other and lightly tapped his cheek,

"Shitty hair..." Bakugou said, Kirishima barely stirred, he breathing was uneven and shallow and it was making Bakugou worried,

"Kat-suk...i..." Kirishima stuttered barely above a whisper, Bakugou shuffled closer and placed a hand gently against the other's cheek,

"You gotta stay awake shit head..." Bakugou said trying his best to keep his eyes open, Kirishima's eyes fluttered half open and he did his best attempt at a grin, both were exhausted and badly injured. Neither knew how long they would be able to stay up on that roof, the city was on lockdown so there would be no citizens out to call for help.

Bakugou had an idea, he moved his hand from Kirishima's face and slowly reached down towards his pocket, he found what he was looking for,

"Hold on Ei..." Bakugou muttered as he carefully pressed the alert that sent out their location to the agency that they worked at with their friends from their time at U.A, once he had pressed it his hand dropped back down to the ground.

"Fuck..." He muttered angrily, Kirishima made a futile attempt at a chuckle but it sounded muted to Bakugou, Kirishima slowly shifted over to Bakugou coughing as he did so,

"Ei don't... fucking idiot..." Bakugou breathed, Kirishima let out another chocked chuckle and reached out for Bakugou's hand, Bakugou realised what he was doing and reached out and clasped Kirishima's hand in his own. He gave it a light squeeze as they stared into each others' eyes, slowly Kirishima's eyes began to close and Bakugou was too exhausted to stop him and soon after did the same.

"Shit..." He muttered as he felt the world around him fade into darkness.

Bakugou felt like shit. His body felt heavy, he couldn't hear anything besides the painfully loud sound of something making a horrifically high pitched beeping sound. He tried to remember what happened, it took a few seconds but pretty soon his memory was flooded with the events that occurred beforehand.

"EIJIRO!" He shouted sitting up, he looked around frantically trying to work out where he was, it was a hospital room, the beeping had come from the heart rate monitor across from his bed and it had spiked suddenly from his memory of what had happened to him and Kirishima beforehand.

"Fuck..." He mumbled, he led back his head hitting the pillow with a soft thud, he glanced over to one of his arms and noticed he had an IV running in it. He rolled his eyes as he casually lifted up the thin blankets to see his injuries, he was wrapped in bandages from the waist up to his neck including his arms (well one was in a sling and the other was bandaged), one of his legs was wrapped tightly in a cast and the other was also bandaged.

He let the blanket drop back down as he stared at the ceiling, he began to think about Kirishima,
Was he ok?
Was he awake?
Was he even alive? Bakugou started to think of all the horrible things that could have happened to Kirishima, his heartbeat spiked once more making the heart rate monitor rise once again, but this time it did not level out like the last time.

A nurse ran in looking worried, when she saw that Bakugou was awake she ran over, it occurred to her that he was not in fact dying but panicking, she quickly ran over to the sink and grabbed him a drink of water.

She thrust the small paper cup into his hand and made him drink it all, once it was empty and he had calmed down Bakugou chucked it aside and glared at her,

"How long has it been since we got here?" He asked, she looked down on him disapprovingly,

"4 days," she said cooly clearly already tired of his attitude, Bakugou didn't care what she thought he just needed her to answer his questions.

"Where is Eijiro?" He asked getting straight to the point, the nurse sighed and went to pick up the paper cup,

"He's here, but he hasn't woken up yet, his injuries were more severe than yours but he should wake up soon." She chucked the paper cup into the small bin beside his bed, Bakugou let out a small sigh of relief.

"Can I see him?" He asked impatiently, the nurse looked at him sternly,

"Do you really think you're in the condition to do anything right now?" She asked checking his chart in an attempt to prove her point, Bakugou rolled his eyes,

"Look lady, you said he was here. Now you are going to find a way to let me see him ok? Because if you don't trust me, I will." He said glaring at her, she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose,

"I'll see what I can do." She said walking out of the room, Bakugou led down once again tapping the side of the bed impatiently, he couldn't wait forever! He had to see if Kirishima was okay.

The nurse came back in a few minutes later with a wheelchair and a hospital dressing gown for him to wear over his chest with his arm in the sling.

"Do you need any help putting it on?" She asked bending down to hit the button that put his bed in the sitting position,

"I got it..." He said as he gingerly slid his 'good' arm into the sleeve leaving his broken one and just pulled the dressing gown over it. Somehow, the nurse managed to get Bakugou into the wheelchair with him only cursing a few times and began to push him towards Kirishima's room, with the IV dragging behind them, across the hall.

Bakugou drew in a sharp breath as the nurse opened the door to Kirishima's room, the sight made his heart ache, Kirishima had a bandage wrapped around his head, from what Bakugou could see he was covered in bandages and various other casts and plasters.

The nurse looked down at Bakugou sympathetically, his face looked like his heart had shattered into a million pieces and he had tensed up considerably, she pushed him up to Kirishima's bedside and quietly left the room closing the door behind her with a soft click.

Bakugou could feel the hot tears welling up in his eyes, he reached out and ran his finger along the side of Kirishima's face softly being careful not to knock the small tube helping Kirishima breath,

"Fucking dumbass..." he muttered moving his hand away from Kirishima's face and down towards his hand, it also had an IV in it and Bakugou carefully slid his fingers to interlock with Kirishima's. He could feel the tears spilling over the brim and he didn't even bother to wipe them away, he just let them cascade down the side of his face as he gave Kirishima's hand a light squeeze.

"You gotta be fine shitty hair, what the fuck am I meant to do without you?" Bakugou asked quietly, although he desperately wanted Kirishima to wake up he knew it would be better for him if he slept for as long as he could. Bakugou gently rubbed Kirishima's hand with his thumb as he let his head rest on the edge of the other's chest.

He didn't know when he fell asleep but he clearly did because he woke up to someone stroking his head gently in small repetitive movements.

At first, he was confused, he didn't know what time it was or why his back hurt so much. Then he remembered, Bakugou shot up and looked around, he was still in Kirishima's hospital room, before he even turned to look he heard a light chuckle from the bed beside him,

"Mornin' Katsuki," Kirishima said smiling brightly, Bakugou felt himself fill with tears once again but for an entirely different reason,

"What's up Shitty Hair?" He said choking back tears, Kirishima giggled quietly again and Bakugou swore he could feel his heart burst,

"What time is it?" He asked glad it was dark because he did NOT want Kirishima to know he was crying,

"I don't know, I woke up not too long ago and saw you asleep and thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to play with your hair," he said grinning, Bakugou glanced at the luminous clock on the wall, the time displayed in bright green numbers,

"Oh fuck it's only 2 am..." Bakugou whispered,

"Guess that means we gotta keep our voices down huh?" Kirishima whispered, Bakugou shrugged,

"Guess so," he said as he stretched out his good arm yawning,

"So how long have we been here?" Kirishima asked once again gently stroking Bakugou's hair,

"About 4-5 days," Bakugou said as he leant into Kirishima's touch,

"And how long have you been up for it?" Kirishima asked, he sounded calm but deep down he was worried, Bakugou wasn't exactly one for sharing his feelings and Kirishima was worried he might have had to suffer alone for days while he slept peacefully with no memory of what Bakugou might have gone through.

"I only woke up earlier on today, heh, and only for like half an hour? I came in here almost straight away and fell asleep..." He said smirking, Kirishima breathed out a sigh of relief,

"I'm glad... I was scared you'd had to wait for ages for me to get up," Bakugou looked at Kirishima, he was still smiling his soft smile but it was more pained than usual almost like he felt... guilty?

"Well yeah, waiting even half an hour was hell, but Ei," Bakugou reached out for his face and made Kirishima look him in the eyes, "I would do it a million fucking times if it meant I could see your dumbass again," he said sternly, Kirishima started to well up as well and made a choking sound as he tried to hold back the tears,

"Woah... bro that was... super manly!" He said starting to cry now, Bakugou scoffed and rolled his eyes playfully,

"You're so fucking sappy Shitty Hair." He said bluntly with a smirk on his face, Kirishima laughed quietly,

"Yeah, but only when it comes to you!" He said reaching out for Bakugou's hand,

"That's some dumb shit right there," Bakugou said, he rolled his eyes but grabbed Kirishima's hand without protesting. Kirishima giggled and let himself fall back so he was resting on his pillow once again,

"Hey, Katsuki?" He asked,

"Hmm?" Bakugou replied sleepily,

"Love ya..." he said grinning,

"Gross," Bakugou said, but Kirishima knew from the light squeeze on his hand what Bakugou really meant.

Notes:

I said it would get all shit and fluffy at the end, didn't I? Well we learnt an important lesson today: I cannot fucking write angst to save my life. Honestly, I think it's because I'm the human incarnation of a fucking mothball lmao but hope you enjoyed it anyways
Tbh I hope I did good because I've been thinking about this idea for ages but I don't think I did it justice
