Work Text:
Izuku hummed as he watched the news, notebook open in his lap and a pencil sticking out of his mouth as he waited for them to show the footage from a recent villain attack that happened while he was at school.
Usually he would be at the computer searching for any details, but from what he heard the villain had a type of quirk that messed with most cameras. Izuku just hoped the media was able to get some footage of the fight.
“Now there’s an unfamiliar sight. I thought you would be at the computer with your notebook, not in front of the T.V.”
He looked up, mouth opening only for his pencil to fall out and land on the ground. “Shoot!” He shouted, diving down to grab the pencil that was rolling, only for his father to beat him to the punch.
Hisashi went and sat down next to his son, holding the pencil out with a teasing smile on his face as his seven year old son took the offered pencil with a sheepish smile of his own.
“How long will you be here this time?” Izuku asked, sitting back down on the couch, swatting his dad’s hand away when he tried to ruffle his hair. “Dad!”
“I’m sorry, can’t help myself,” Hisashi chuckled, letting his hand fall back into his lap. “I’d say about a week, if work doesn’t call me in for another trip to America. If you think the media is bad here, you should see how it is overseas,” he said, turning towards the T.V.
“So, what’s the occasion here?” He asked, motioning towards Izuku’s notebook.
“There was a bank robbery while I was in school, the villain had a quirk that messed with cameras and I wanna see if the media got any footage,” Izuku admitted, smiling sheepishly as he looked at the notes he got so far. “I only got speculations though.”
“Those are some good ideas,” Hisashi said after reading over the notes, tapping a finger against his chin. “Though have you considered that the villain’s quirk may cause technology in general to shut down?” he suggested, watching as Izuku wrote down what he said.
“Or maybe it causes interruptions?” Izuku put in, chewing at the end of his pencil as he hummed in thought.
“How quickly did a hero get there?” Hisashi asked.
Izuku blinked as he started to think on what he could remember before shaking his head. “Can we use your computer?” he asked, pouting when his dad chuckled and ruffled his hair.
“Of course, just give me a moment.”

When Inko walked in, she blinked at the sight of the T.V. turned on to a news station, Izuku and Hisashi both on the ground with papers strewn all over the place, the two of them in a muttering fest with Izuku furiously writing in his notebook and Hisashi typing at his laptop.
She shook her head, deciding to leave them be. After all, it isn’t often that Izuku gets to spend quality time with his father.
