Work Text:
It was Sunday and Yoongi was dozing off on the couch when he felt little hands on his chest.
"Hyung."
He and Hoseok had adopted the kid and brought him home two months ago, after a process that took four months to be complete. Hoseok was trying to make the boy call them "dad and daddy", just like their friends' twins called Seokjin and Namjoon, but Jungkook wasn't comfortable with it yet (he tried sometimes, tho), so they weren't forcing him - he was 5, could choose how to call them - and he was calling them hyungs.
"Yeh, kid." Yoongi didn't open his eyes.
"Hyung-ie."
"What, Jungkook?" His eyes remained closed.
"Hyung-iiiie." At that moment Jungkook tried to shake him too.
Yoongi opened one eye and almost screamed. He sat right away and held Jungkook by his shoulders. The little boy was bleeding.
"What happened? Did you fall? Is it hurting? Obviously it's hurting. What should I do? What-"
"Hyung?" Jungkook's eyes started to tear up.
Yoongi was panicking, but he held a breath and put himself together. He took the kid on his arms and went to the bathroom. They were alone at home, while Hoseok had gone out to buy groceries. He sat the boy on the sink counter and made him lower his head slightly so the blood would drop in the sink. Yoongi washed Jungkook's face with a lot of care, making small noises to soothe both of them. It took a few minutes, but he finally could see that the cut wasn't big, it was above the boy's right eyebrow and was shallow. Yoongi remembered that forehead cuts always bleed a lot. He reached a towel and pressed it on the cut. Jungkook was really quiet, so Yoongi took him in his arms again and went to the kitchen.
"Jungkook-ie, it's okay. This will heal fast, you'll see. I'll just put ice so you won't have a swelling here, okay?"
The little boy nodded lightly.
Yoongi put him on the counter and made him hold the towel in place while he packed some ice in a bag to make a compress.
"Let's exchange this. It'll hurt a little, sorry, Jungkook-ie." He said, looking into the kid's big and round eyes. Jungkook hissed but endured the pain. "You're a brave boy, Jungkook-ie. Hold this."
Yoongi turned to the refrigerator again and took a banana milk. Then he took Jungkook in his arms again and went to sit on the couch with him on his lap. Yoongi held the compress while the kid drank his favorite beverage. They stood like that for a bit, the cut wasn't bleeding anymore and they were way calmer.
"What happened, Jungkook?" Yoongi asked quietly.
"I fell and bumped my head. I'm sorry."
"Hey, things happen. It's not a problem."
"Are you mad I woke you?"
"No! It was my fault actually, I should've been watching you, not sleeping." Since the kid was still worried, Yoongi continued. "Hoseok will probably yell, but he will be mad at me, okay, not you."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Don't question your father."
A small smile brightened Jungkook's face, making Yoongi's heart warm and settle.
Half an hour later, Yoongi had done a curative in Jungkook's forehead and the kid was watching TV and playing with his toys again.
"I'm home!"
They heard Hoseok's happy voice shouting. Jungkook looked at Yoongi with new worry in his eyes.
"I'll tell your daddy what happened, you keep playing here, okay?" The boy nodded. "Be right back."
Yoongi went to the kitchen and helped Hoseok put everything in place.
"Did you find everything?"
Hoseok raised his head and looked attentively to his partner.
"What happened?"
"Nothing."
"Yoongi, I know you. Something happened. Tell me."
"Jungkook hurt himself a little."
"WHAT?"
"He's okay, I took care of the cut-"
"A CUT? WHERE?"
"On the forehead." Hoseok stormed out of the kitchen. "He is okay, Hoseok-ah!"
Yoongi said, despite knowing it was too late. He lazily went to the living room and saw Hoseok fussing around Jungkook, asking him if he was all right, touching his forehead. Yoongi was worried that Jungkook would have a bad reaction, but the boy looked calm, especially after he saw Yoongi again.
"I'm okay, daddy." That made Hoseok stop. "Dad took care of me. He even gave me banana milk."
The couple was stunned, the wound forgotten.
"Daddy and dad?"
"You said I could call you that."
"Yes! Yes, Kookie, you can. Always. If you want."
Yoongi couldn't quite see Hoseok's face, but he could hear the tears in his husband's voice.
"I want."
"Okay... Okay!" And Hoseok was laughing loud and brightly again, Jungkook smiled too, widely. That made Yoongi smile fondly.
