Take Care

Summary:

Iida takes care of sick reader.

Work Text:

Your eyes felt like bricks as you tried to open them. The sunlight coming in from the window was bright, too bright. Your parched throat became more apparent as you began to wake up more. You turned your head to your nightstand—usually you kept a water there. There was none.

You whimpered and tried to swallow to regain some moisture. It felt impossible. This was it. You were done for. Of all the ways you thought you were going to die—a cold was not one of them. You sniffed loudly.

A small knock on the door pulled you from your brooding thoughts. “Come in” your voice cracked as you tried to speak.

The door opened slowly, “Y/LN. As class rep, it is my duty to come check on you.” Iida’s formal tone filled your ears. “Ah, thanks, Iida...” Your eyes fluttered back closed. You felt comfortable enough to have him in your room without needing to keep an eye on him.

“So, is there anything you need? Some soup, maybe? Crackers?” Iida rocked on his heels as he watched you rest. You dry coughed loudly, “Water, please?” Iida nodded, “I’ll be right back!”

Just a few moments later, Iida re-entered your room. He had the water you asked for, along with some soup and crackers and some more tissues.

“I took some liberty and brought you some other things as well. I hope you like chicken noodle.” Iida set the things on your desk. He noticed your notebook full of writing sitting there.

“Y/N! You’re never going to get better if you continue to stay up all night and write! You need at least 7 hours of sleep. Probably more because you’re sick!” His hand came down in a chopping motion. You sniffed instead of responding.

“No, no. Don’t sniff at me. You need to start going to bed earlier!” He began to open the packet of crackers he brought with the soup. “Sit up so you can eat. Soup will help your throat.” You sat up reluctantly, “Iida, if I don’t meet my deadline I’m toast. I have to write.” You sniffled again; Iida handed you a tissue.

“I agree you need to meet your deadlines, but your health is so much more important!” After you blew your nose he held your waste basket up so you could toss the tissue away. “I know, Iida, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity—I don’t wanna blow it”

He shook his head as he placed a pillow on your lap and then carefully handed you the soup and a few crackers. “Have you taken any medicine today?” He pulled a forehead thermometer from his pocket as he asked this question. You should your head ‘no’ as he placed the thermometer against your skin.

“You don’t have a fever but you should probably take some medicine...” he pulled some medicine from his other pocket. He really did come prepared. He gave you the appropriate dosage along with your water.

“Iida, I can take care of myself...” you mumbled, suddenly feeling very bombarded with all of his caring actions.

“If you took care of yourself, you would’ve been better by now.” Iida retorted quickly. You scowled knowing he was right. “You know, I’m only doing this because I care about you...” Iida’s hand brushed your hair back gently, “I want you to get better—I miss seeing you in class.”

You were taken back by his statement, wondering if perhaps he checked on you for reasons other than being class rep. “Call me if you need anything.” He stood up straight again and bowed before leaving your room once more.
