Chapter Text
Her hands were just as he remembered them. Silky smooth and perfectly structured. It was as if Michelangelo sculpted them himself. He had seen them nine times before but they never changed and their beauty remained. He watched his living self set off the bomb only leaving the masterpieces behind but as quickly as it happened, time sped forward again to another scene.
The noisy teenager stood victorious over him with his friend not far behind. Okuyasu had suddenly reawakened and stolen Stray Cat from him right when he was about to deliver the finishing blow to Josuke. After being beaten to a pulp by the poorly dressed teen, the rest of his gang showed up and cornered him as the ambulance came to finish the job.
He hated that scene the most. The loop always ended here for his living self and Kira would have to rewatch it from beginning once the rest of time caught up. At this point, Kira would wander around Morioh plotting his revenge though it never could come to fruition. He remembered everything once the loop started again but he couldn’t apply this knowledge to his situation. After all, the Kira living out the loop was not himself but rather a clone. He was a ghost who was only given the power to observe the life that was once his. His only happiness came from the fact that he didn’t have to physically live it again.
But if he missed anything from that life, it was his girlfriends. Each loop he was reminded of their lovely appearances especially that of his first love. The photograph was restored every time he visited and her lovely expression remained as steady as always. Kira wondered why he never stole the original but that would probably have been too much of a hassle. They were the ones who made his life whole but they also were the cause of his death. If he hadn’t taken their hands, he wouldn’t have been hunted down by those lowly brats and his peaceful life wouldn’t have come to an end.
Maybe his other self could work with that. If his clone chose to fight his nature then maybe he could live in peace. But Kira couldn’t work with that. He was never going to give up his happiness and that happiness was integral to his peaceful life. He had grown up on such pleasure and freedom and nothing could ever deter him from taking it.
However, if there was a chance for at least one of his selves to have a peaceful life, Kira wouldn’t mind helping them achieve it.
His thoughts were interrupted as time began to speed up again and the loop was beginning to rewind. Kira's life flashed through his eyes in reverse as he allowed time to take him back to his birth, where it all began.
But just as he reached the beginning, time suddenly seemed to stop. Something had changed. Every other time loop had a consistent beginning and end but this one seemed to have stopped on its course. In the instant it lasted, the pause ended sending Kira spiraling into the future until the universe ended once again.
