Chapter Text

32 BBY

Some of Owen’s first memories were of his father scanning the ‘net for news regarding Jedi, listening to broadcasts of Senate sessions when Jedi made appearances. Most of the time there were no names, and could hardly be singled out.

Then one day, they listened to the young Queen of Naboo give an impassioned speech requesting, nearly demanding, that the Senate aid her people as her planet was invaded and her people were imprisoned and killed.

It was just a moment, but they heard a young man talking quietly with the Queen after she called for a vote of no confidence for the current Chancellor.

His father had closed his eyes and smiled faintly, “He has his mother’s capacity of being right at the heart of trouble.”

It wasn’t until after word got out that Naboo had been freed thanks to two Jedi, and a young boy, that his father took him aside and explained he had an older brother that had gone to the Jedi very young.

His father had looked sad and proud as he told him that his older brother carried his wife’s family name, as was the habit of her people.

His twenty-year-older half-brother’s name was Obi-Wan Kenobi. And he was a Jedi.

Owen was so proud of his older brother, because he was a Jedi, and that meant he was protecting and aiding the people who needed it most just like his grandmother’s stories of them. She had gleefully told him stories of his father as a child right alongside stories of Jedi who had saved friends during misadventures in their wild youth.

He pretended to not hear how she giggled over one long-haired Knight that he thought defined pretentious who had rescued her from being a slave.

#the Knight is Dooku #the Knight who rescued Owen’s paternal grandmother is DOOKU
