If Yoongi was in his current position any other day of his life he’d be overjoyed—thrilled even. Currently he’s inside one of the small custodial closets of his high school with his longtime crush—the beautiful and alluring bad boy Park Jimin—pressed against chest. What isn’t there to be happy about?
The closet they’re occupying is rather tiny and obviously wasn’t built for more than one person to occupy at a time. Which means that Jimin and Yoongi are rather close to each other. Yoongi’s chest tightened immediately when Jimin had promptly shoved the elder into the closest and shuffled in close behind, just a mere five minutes ago. Yoongi’s senses were filled with Jimin and Jimin only. His long hands were gripping onto the smooth leather material of the jacket covering Jimin’s shoulders, the faint mint scent of Jimin’s shampoo wafting up into Yoongi’s nostrils and if Yoongi shifted his gaze down a bit he could definitely see the younger’s defined chest peeking out from underneath the opened collar of his button down shirt.
Considering the fact that Yoongi’s been pining after Jimin for the majority of his high school career, and he had been planning to confess to the other this very day, he definitely should be jumping with joy at the predicament the two have found themselves in.
However he’s not.
In fact Yoongi’s heart is beating for reasons other than the fact that Jimin’s perky behind is pressed against his front.
BANG
“ Holy shit!”
You see the reason Yoongi and the object of his desires are trapped in this god awful janitor closet in the first place, is that on this glorious October day, the zombie apocalypse decided to commence.
“Yoongi-hyung calm down!” Jimin shushes the screams of the elder. He spares a quick glance back at Yoongi, letting the elder see the strain and fear gracing Jimin’s face clearly.
“What do you mean calm down, how can someone be calm in this situation?” Yoongi’s grip tightens on the door handle as the loud crashing noises and groans in the hallway continue on. “Besides you’re not the picture of serenity right now either, Jimin!”
“Well at least I’m trying to remain calm. You’re the one yelling and letting those things out there know where we are!” Jimin’s hand wildly gestures towards the foggy glass where the two can see a hoard of zombies dumbly wandering around the hallway outside.
“I don’t think they know we’re in here, Jiminnie. They’ve been aimlessly wandering around out there for a good while now.” Yoongi’s pretty sure if the zombies knew where the two were hidden they would’ve already tried to break in by now.
As if on cue, a grotesque figure rams itself against the locked door, rattling the hinges.
Jimin looks back at Yoongi, eyebrows raised in a “I told you so” manner. “I think at least one of them knows we’re here.”
Yoongi curses under his breath. He’d be more ticked off at the smartass look on Jimin’s face if: 1) his face wasn’t so damn cute and 2) a zombie wasn’t currently ramming its head against the door.
“We’re gonna have to find a way to get out of here, Jimin,” Yoongi concludes.
Jimin hums, “Well duh. Do you have any ideas on how we’re going to do that?”
“Well I mean you’re the one that dragged us into the closet, so I was thinking you should be the one to figure out how we should get out of here,” Yoongi says monotonously.
“What kind of logic is that hyung?” Jimin asks incredulously, “You’re right though, I am the one who threw us in this closet and saved our lives! Therefore, it’s your turn to decide how we get out of here.”
Crap, Yoongi thinks, he does have a point there. Jimin had basically saved both their asses when he yanked an unaware Yoongi out of the path of a zombie and quickly dragged them both into the closet.
“Touche.”
Yoongi starts racking his brain in an attempt to formulate a plan. He looks around the dimly lit room to see if any thing inside could help the two escape. He spots a tool box up on the top shelf, and shifts around Jimin to make his way to it.
“What are you doing?” Jimin inquires as he flounders to replace Yoongi’s grip on the door with his own hands. He feels Yoongi’s body press further against him as he tries to reach the top shelf.
“Attempting to come up with a plan,” Yoongi strains out as he stands on his tiptoes. When his arms stretch upwards a tiny pink envelope slips out from his blazer’s pocket. Jimin notices the object before the elder and picks it up with one hand.
“Hyung, you dropped this,” he says as his eyes scan over the envelope. On the front, of what Jimin assumes to be some sort of letter, he sees that his own name written across the envelope in Yoongi’s scratchy handwriting.
Now that’s interesting.
Before Jimin can even open his mouth to comment, Yoongi abandons his quest to retrieve the toolbox and turns around to snatch the letter out his hands.
“That’s mine,” he spits out quickly. He decides to tack on a quiet “thank you”, since the younger picked it up for him.
“You’re welcome,” Jimin says hesitantly. He sees the dark blush dusted across the elder’s cheeks and decides to question him about the envelope. “Are you sure that’s yours, though? My name is on it.”
Yoongi coughs awkwardly and silently curses himself for deciding that a handwritten letter was the best way to confess to Jimin. Honestly, it probably would have been the perfect confession, if not for the whole zombie apocalypse thing.
His plan was perfect really. Yoongi had always been better at expressing his feelings on pen and paper, rather than in person. So he decided to rip out a piece of scratch paper from his journal and got to work the night before. He wrote for hours, pouring out all his pent up feelings and emotions for the younger. The next day he had planned to stop Jimin in the hallway and gift him the letter before promptly running away and waiting for the younger to give a response by the end of the day.
Yoongi was able to successfully play out half of his plan this morning. He had stopped Jimin on the younger’s way to class and got him to wait in the hallway with him. However, right after they had finished their brief bit of small talk and playful teasing that usually goes on between the two, a series of loud screeches erupted from somewhere in the school. The shouts and screams of their peers continued to grow and the two boys soon found themselves surrounded by a horde of zombies slowly coming their way.
That leads to the predicament the two are in now. Trapped in a closet with hungry growling zombies just outside the door, waiting to feast on the two. Yoongi knows that the most important matter at hand right now should be finding a way to get the hell out of this closet and away from danger. However, he can’t just ignore the fact that Jimin’s name is on that envelope. Nor can he ignore Jimin’s leering gaze and inquisitive words.
Yoongi huffs out a shaky breath and wills his nerves away. He might as well fess up and tell Jimin just exactly what is in the envelope. Heck, he had decided that he was going to confess today, this just isn’t the most favorable way. Fucking zombies, ruining everything. Can’t even let a guy have a proper confession.
“I’m sure that it is mine, Jimin. But I was uh,” Yoongi coughs and pulls loosely at his collar, “planning on giving it to you today.” He holds out the now crumpled pink envelope towards the other. His eyes can’t bear to look into the other’s so he stares at the ground and says, “It’s for you. There’s something that I’ve been meaning to tell you for a long while now. It’s all in this letter.”
Jimin eyes the wrinkled piece of paper in Yoongi’s hands quizzically. “For me?”
“Yeah,” Yoongi presses the paper against Jimin’s chest, “for you.”
The younger repeats the phrase in a soft whisper, “ for me.” Hesitantly, Jimin grasps onto the envelope and slowly smoothes it out. Yoongi watches nervously as the younger opens it and begins to read the letter. He goes to grab for the toolbox in order to busy his shaking hands (plus he hasn’t forgotten the fact that zombies are running rampant outside). Inside the box he spots a few hammers, wrenches and other miscellaneous tools a handyman would carry. He grabs for the hammers and puts the box back up on the shelf. These will have to do as weapons for now, I guess we can jump out of here and start swinging these at the zombies. It should buy us some time to run away for now, they aren’t very fast after all-
“ Yoongi-hyung,” Jimin’s voice interrupts his thoughts. Yoongi looks up to see Jimin staring at him with a faint blush on his cheeks. The younger carefully folds the letter and sticks it into the pocket of his leather jacket before speaking again. “I’d just like to let you know that your timing is terrible.”
Yoongi stares blankly at Jimin, dumbfounded by the response. “What?”
“The timing,” Jimin smirks and takes one of the hammers out of Yoongi’s grasp, “of your confession. It’s really bad. You couldn’t have chosen a worse time to confess, hyung.” Jimin chuckles bitterly, tossing the hammer back and forth in between his hands. “I mean c’mon the day you finally confess to me, fucking zombies invade our school. You have shit luck.”
An exasperated noise leaves Yoongi’s mouth as he shakes his head in disbelief. It’s not rare for Jimin to poke fun at him, hell Yoongi even reciprocates it. But of all the times to tease him now definitely didn’t feel like the best. Jimin had just basically read all of Yoongi’s deep feelings he’s kept bottled up for years now, and all he had to say was Yoongi’s timing sucked. The elder couldn’t help but feel miffed at Jimin’s response. “ My timing . I just confessed to you and all you can say is my timing sucks. ”
Yoongi looks down at the ground again, a wave of distress rolling over him. He quietly whispers out, “Did it not mean anything to you?” offhandedly, not really expecting Jimin to hear or care after all of that.
Jimin lets the hammer drop to his side, face morphing into a serious expression. He shuffles closer to Yoongi (well not too much closer since they’re already basically pressed up against each other). “Hyung, of course it meant something to me.” Jimin reaches out and places a hand on Yoongi’s shoulder causing him to look up. “Your feelings mean a lot to me. Always.”
“So do you not have a response?” Yoongi questions, his hopes rising slightly at the tender touch.
“I mean I was being serious though, you’re timing is a bit off. I’d probably need a bit of time to process the confession on a regular day; add the whole zombie attack to that and I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get back to you.”
Yoongi nods solemnly, he should’ve known. Perhaps it would’ve been better for him to keep his feelings to himself after all. Their friendship was at stake here now, along with their lives.
“But I will get back you.”
Yoongi jolts at the endearing tone of Jimin’s voice. The younger stares at him with his signature smirk spread across his plump lips.
“Let’s deal with these zombies first though, hyung. At least get to safety.” He holds the hammer up, “I’m assuming you think we should use these as weapons?”
“There’s not really anything else here, Jiminnie.” Yoongi shrugs.
Jimin hums and pats Yoongi on the back, “Alright then, let’s fight hyung. Together.” He moves to take a hold of the door handle, lifting up his hammer in a swinging stance.
Yoongi nods and mirrors Jimin’s movements, getting ready for the younger to open the door, “Together.”
“Oh and hyung one more thing.”
“Yes, Jimin?”
“You’re timing might suck, but the confession sure didn’t. It wasn’t exactly unwelcomed either.” Jimin winks at the other before throwing the door open and swinging the hammer wildly at the grotesque moaning figure waiting outside the door.
Yoongi smiles softly for a millisecond before following Jimin out of the room, and joining him in this fight. Together.
