Chapter Text
It was a dark, rainy evening. A storm. A very dark one. Maybe, it was just reflecting how I was feeling inside. The raindrops were splattering on my head. I was wearing his hoodie, my favorite hoodie, the hood forgotten. I was crying, my tears matching the speed of the storm. I couldn't see. I was blinking a lot, trying to focus on him.
"Please...please, Jungkook. Don't do this. We're stronger than this. Please, you can't do this to me. I'm your best friend. Kook, look at me. Please. Kookie-ah. Don't let her win. Jungkook , I can't live without you. Please."
The tears were flowing uncontrollably. I tried to wipe them away using the sleeves of his hoodie. It was very large on me. Probably why I loved it so much, it was very comfortable.
"Kookie..please," I sobbed.
He finally raised his head and looked at me. The rain making his brown hair stick to his head like a mat. His expression was sour. As if, he was looking at something he loathed. He ran his fingers through his hair, frustration pouring out of his movements.
"Stop. Don't make this more difficult than it already is, Jimin. Stop it. Stop crying. Stop pretending. You don't care. I know it, you know it. So, stop it. Stop this pretense," he gritted through his teeth.
I couldn't believe it. He was doing exactly what she wanted him to do. This was exactly the reaction that she was expecting. How do I know this? Because, she told me. His perfect girlfriend, Jennie.
He trusted her more than he trusted me. What could I say? How could I make him believe? He wasn't ready to hear anything from my mouth. This person; Jungkook, my best friend, my rock, my person...the love of my life hated me. What did I do to deserve this? Love him unconditionally? Be always there for him? What did I do?
"Yeah, stay quiet. Don't have anything to say now, huh?" he laughed mockingly, "Where are your words now, Jimin? Don't have any more lies to throw at me?" He turned around and started to walk away.
I ran behind him and grabbed his jacket, "You're doing exactly what she wanted. She wanted to break us apart. And she is winning. Jungkook..don't let her win. Please don't leave me." I sobbed hysterically.
"Wow, such an amazing actor, you are." He said sarcastically and clapped," She told me that you would say something like this. She's the only one who's been truthful to me. The only one who supported me. Where were you? Oh, I remember! WHORING AROUND WITH THAT ASSHOLE!"
There was a silence and then a slap. The sound of the slap reverberating through the streets.
The tears stopped flowing. There was an eerie calm. It had stopped raining. I looked at him, an unfamiliar feeling eating me inside. As if my body couldn't recognize him, which was impossible. Each and every nerve ending in my body was aware that he was there.
"How dare you? How could you fucking say that to me? WHO ARE YOU? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE PERSON I CALLED MY BEST FRIEND? I DON'T RECOGNIZE YOU ANYMORE!"
Tears started to fill my eyes. Different kind of tears, angry tears.
"Don't talk to me ever again. I'm done with you, Jeon Jungkook. I'm done trying to make you see and understand the truth. You wanted to end this friendship because of your girlfriend, right? Must be your lucky day. Because, I'm ending this friendship." I looked determinedly into his doe eyes and turned around to walk away.
"Shit-Minnie, stop!" Jungkook said exasperatedly as he ran to keep up with me.
"Min-I'm so sorry- I didn't mean that- it just-it just came out- I don't like that guy - he stares.. Jimin -please-"
"Shut up." I said calmly," You are not the person I fell in love with. Goodbye, Jungkook."
I looked into eyes. His, wide open eyes. He opened his mouth to say something and I walked away. He didn't follow me. He didn't ask me to stop.
Dead silence followed me back home.
I guess we always were just friends.
