they all know what to do when the lights go off. clear your throat, get in position, take a deep breath. try and ground yourself so you don't get lost in the crowd's roars.
jeongguk doesn't mind that they're loud. none of them really do. it's all part of the experience. he also doesn't mind so much that they get particularly excited for their affection and antics on stage. and maybe it's in part to make them happy, but also a little for himself, that encourages him to set his hand on taehyung's shoulder as the lights adjust and begin to dim.
tae is smiling back at him and the moment feels longer than it is. just them on stage.
anpanman is next, so tae doesn't seem all that surprised when jeongguk turns him around. but jeongguk. oh. he's surprised at himself. how tightly he feels the urge to wrap his arms around tae's waist.
at most he has four seconds.
at four seconds he reels tae in close, appreciative of the ease with which his friend leans back into him.
at three seconds jeongguk nestles his nose into tae's bare neck, and just as quickly presses a kiss to it. in the darkness. just for taehyung and just for himself.
at two seconds tae drops his hand to cover jeongguk's and it's just them. hidden from view.
at one second jeongguk whispers, "love you," even though tae probably can't hear him. definitely can't. jeongguk doesn't mind, he can say it again later.
at zero seconds the lights turn back on, the music begins, and tae lifts his hand off jeongguk's. he walks forward and jeongguk grins at the adorable lilt in his voice.
and then he has to let go. even if he wishes he could yank him closer.
