Summary
Aside from Soobin at his side and Kai hovering silently near the side door, there was only one other person in the room. He was so handsome that Beomgyu had to hold in a whimper; luminous eyes, a tall nose, and a cat-like mouth that curled up towards the corners. He was wearing silk. The fabric draped over his body in a way that emphasized his narrow waist and broad shoulders, trousers tapering towards surprisingly dainty ankles.
“Prince Beomgyu,” he said, voice rich and warm. He bowed deeply, showing an incredible amount of respect considering that they were of equal status, and even stepped forwards to take Beomgyu’s hand. The moment his lips touched Beomgyu’s skin he thought that he might pass out. “Prince Yeonjun of the Summer Kingdom–“
“Yes.” Beomgyu’s mouth was moving without his permission, startling his suitor into silence. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”
The man’s face went slack with something like surprise, lashes fluttering the slightest amount as he blinked. Beside him, Beomgyu heard Soobin gasp and then smack his face into his palm.
“Um, sir…” The man swallowed, Beomgyu’s eyes following the motion of his Adam’s apple as it bobbed in his throat. “I’m not Prince Yeonjun. I’m just his messenger.”

Summary
“I’ve cleared your schedule for the second week in August,” Soobin said. “The Summer Kingdom is already expecting you, so your lodgings are sorted, but I haven’t figured out travel yet. It’s a two-day journey, so–“
“Oh, I can’t go then,” Beomgyu interrupted.
Soobin sat up. “Why? I just said, I cleared your entire schedule.”
“It’s Kai’s birthday, duh,” Beomgyu replied. “You go instead. Doubt he’ll know the difference. You’re way better at remembering all the stupid trade routes and suppliers anyway.”
“He’s expecting you.”
“I’m sure he’ll be perfectly satisfied with a string bean in a feathered cap,” Beomgyu said. “Tell you what, I’ll write him a letter. I’ve fallen terribly ill and won’t be able to make the journey, so I’m sending my closest advisor in my stead.”
“So you’re going to lie to him.”
Beomgyu let out a couple of pathetic little coughs. “It’s not a lie, see? I’m sick.”

“Can you believe he called me nasty to my face? The attitude on vampires, I swear…” Beomgyu muttered.
“That doesn’t sound like something that someone who’s very tolerant of the supernatural would say," Kai told him.
“Yeah, well consider me extremely intolerant of vampires right now,” Beomgyu shot back. “Or maybe they’re intolerant of me. You think vampires can have allergies to certain humans? I hope my blood gave him massive hives, and now his perfect face is all messed up and swollen–“
Kai started to laugh. People were staring now, because Kai’s laugh sounded a lot like a seagull trying to sing Britney Spears. He didn’t explain anything, just pointed at Beomgyu and kept laughing.
“What?” Beomgyu said grumpily.
“You’re mad because a hot guy called you gross,” Kai gasped in-between laughs. He wiped at his eyes with the bottom of his shirt, hiccuping. “You’re mad because you think he’s cute.”Bookmarked by binniebow

Taehyun placed a tennis shoe on his chest and leaned close.
“Spit at Kai again and I’ll see how far I can fit my foot up your ass. Might even be able to rearrange those ugly teeth of yours for you,” he said, very quietly. Kai had never heard him use such language.Without saying another word, he turned to Kai. “Let’s go home, yeah?”
Kai nodded. For some reason, the front of his pants were really tight right now. The last time he’d gotten an unfortunate boner was middle school, why was it happening now? He pulled his bag off his back and held it in front of him to try to keep Taehyun from noticing.
“You’re okay, right?” Taehyun asked. “He didn’t hit you?”
“N-no, no, I’m good. I promise I’m fine, I’m just– you know. In shock, that’s all.”He’d never gotten a boner in shock before, but there was a first time for everything.
