Truth or Dare is a dangerous game.
A game that Sero has been an expert in avoiding.
He’s gone to parties where it was played and knew how exactly to get away with watching the goings-on without having to actually participate. It was great! Being a spectator to all of the cute, ridiculous, and the somewhat cringe-worthy stuff without having to worry about doing it himself. How was he able to get away with this? Well, because people kinda-sorta forgot about Sero during these games.
He hung in the back, would get water, or go to the bathroom anytime someone got to choose the next victim. The game was dangerous, and Sero knew better. Sure being dared to do a prank sounded like fun or any other task like that, but god help the poor son of a bitch who has to do a dare or tell a locked away hidden secret about the one they’re crushing on.
So when classes 1A and 1B decided to have a big party at the end of the year, Sero knew it was coming. He did all of his usual tactics, and he was never called on and therefore didn’t ask anyone, which was so much more preferable.
He got to watch Awase and Momo figure out that they liked each other; Hagakure completes the most ridiculous dare, which was a feat within itself; Tetsutetsu prank calls a restaurant; Midoriya and Uraraka “suffer” through seven minutes in heaven, and so on…
It was fun. It was great even!
All until Todoroki got called on.
“Hey, Todoroki? Truth or dare?”
Sero went to get some water. He didn’t want to see or know who Todoroki had a crush on. It would have been ok if it were some sort of a prank but come on... He’s the prettiest guy in their year. Of course, he’s not going to get asked to make a crank call or do something ridiculous like getting dared to make an erotic ice sculpture of a *“female-presenting nipples.” (Although that would have been a fantastic dare.)
Nah, he was going to get asked about who he liked or to kiss who he had a crush on or some bullshit like that. It wouldn’t have been a problem except… Sero liked him. Sero liked him a lot. Sero had been in like with him for the better part of a year. So yeah, Sero watching Todoroki pick someone else? Seeing Todoroki like someone else? Yeah—not fun.
So when Sero came back in to see everyone staring at him, he was concerned.
“Uh… Hi? What are you all looking at?”
“Hmm, that probably has something to do with me.”
Sero turned to the right and saw Todoroki—who looked far more nervous than himself—get up off the floor. In two small steps, he stood too close to Sero, way too close.
“Er… Roki, that doesn’t really tell me a whole hell of a lot.”
“Right… sorry.”
“Sorry for what—”
Sero felt himself being pulled in close, then lips—Todoroki’s lips to be precise—against his own.
One thought went through Sero Hanta’s mind as he just stood still in bewilderment.
‘WHAT?!? What just happened?!’
When the very brief kiss finished, Sero blinked, and Todoroki—was blushing?
“Um—uh—what? I-I mean, what was that for?” Sero stuttered.
~~~
“Truth or Dare… I um got dared to kiss the prettiest boy in our class. I said that you weren’t back yet.” Todoroki said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“O-Oh?” Sero blushed, and Todoroki felt himself nod. Although Sero didn’t know this, Todoroki also thought Truth or Dare was a dangerous game, but when Sero stepped in closer and kissed him back, he realized that sometimes the risk is worth the reward.
