   Summary

   A scene from Chapter 17 of the larger work in this series. A young boy undergoes a very painful medical treatment. Needles are the primary reason I'm leaving it out of the original work (there is no surgery, blood, seizures, medication, etc.) because they are a key mechanism for the scene in the form of IV's and blood draws. Also, the depiction of Joey's pain is very graphic and goes beyond the overall intensity of the rest of the work.
