Jungkook waited for the little bubbles to show that Seokjin was typing to appear, but his screen remained empty.
“Why would you think you’re needy?” Seokjin asked walking into Jungkook’s room.
Jungkook’s head snapped up from where he had been looking at his phone.
“Also,” Seokjin continued, plopping down on Jungkook’s bed. “Why would you text me when you could have literally just shouted down the hallway. It’s not like mom is home and would have been bothered.”
Jungkook shrugged. “I didn’t want to bother you if we were busy.”
Seokjin dramatically flopped back, laying half on Jungkook’s lap. “Like that’s ever stopped you before. Just text your friends, they’re probably just laying around doing nothing like you.”
“But what if they only hung out with me because of school,” Jungkook whined. “And now that we’re on break, they don’t actually want to hang out?”
“I can promise you that’s not the case,” Seokjin said, sitting back up.
“But I’m always the one to text first,” Jungkook said. “And like, I’m always the one asking to hang out. And like, what if they only say yes because they feel like they have to. But like, they don't actually want to say yes, and -”
“Okay,” Seokjin interrupted. “Stop right there, and listen carefully. Taehyung and Jimin are really your friends. And just because they don’t text you first, doesn't mean that they are any less your friends.”
“I guess,” Jungkook sighed.
“You’re just being angsty and dramatic because you’re bored,” Seokjin said, pulling his phone from his pocket.
“Who are you texting?” Jungkook asked, looking over Seokjin’s shoulder.
“Your friends.”
“What! No! Why?” Jungkook yelped, trying to grab Seokjin’s phone. Seokjin simply extended his arms out of reach and continued texting.
“Because they’re my friends too, and if you won’t text them, then maybe I’ll ask them to hang out,” Seokjin teased.
“Jiiiin, noooo,” Jungkook whined patting around his bed trying to find where he left his phone.
“I’m kidding, relax,” Seokjin said, looking at the distressed younger boy. “We’re having a musical party.”
Jungkook perked up. They hadn’t had a musical party in such a long time.
“Wait, are you inviting Tae and Jimin?” Jungkook’s eyes narrowed “Musical parties are our thing. And we only do them when one of us are in a bad mood.”
“And you’re in a bad mood.” Seokjin’s phone chimed, and he replied to whoever texted him. “But we can’t do this musical with only the two of us.”
“Not with that attitude,” Jungkook pouted.
Seokjin laughed and ruffled Jungkook’s hair to squawks of protest.
There was silence as Seokjin continued typing away on his phone. Jungkook tried to read over his shoulder, but Seokjin kept angling his phone away from the younger.
“What musical are we going to do?” Jungkook finally asked.
Seokjin looked up from his phone, smiling. “Three guesses.”
Jungkook mentally went through all the musicals he knew. What musical would they not be able to sing through with just the two of them?
“Dear Evan Hansen?”
Seokjin scoffed. “We could totally pull that off with only the two of us. Plus, I’m try to cheer you up, not depress you.”
“I mean it fits,” Jungkook defended. “Socially awkward kid that doesn’t have any friends.”
“Stop being dramatic,” Seokjin said. “You have friends. You just don’t want to text them.”
Jungkook a moment before he said his next guess. “Great Comet?”
“That’s actually a good idea. We should add that to our list.”
“But it’s not?”
Seokjin shook his head. “I’ll give you a hint. It ties in with the school musical next year.”
“We wouldn’t be doing In the Heights,” Jungkook thought out loud. “But what else ties... ARE WE DOING HAMILTON!”
“Hell yeah we’re doing Hamilton!”
“Dibs on Laurens!” Jungkook yelled
Seokjin blinked. “Laurens?”
Jungkook nodded excitedly. “Yeah! And Phillip.”
“You don’t want to be Hamilton? You always sing Hamilton’s parts in the car.”
“No,” Jungkook smiled. “I always I sing everyone’s parts in the car. It’s basically a one man spectacular. But I’ve always wanted to act out a dramatic death. Now i’ll get to!”
“Whatever floats your boat,” Seokjin smiled, and stood up. “They’ll be here in 20 minutes. Come help me set up the living room.”
Jungkook got up from his bed and bounded after Seokjin, smiling to himself the whole way down.
He was so lucky that he had a brother like Seokjin.

“Now that everyone is here,” Seokjin said once everyone had piled into his living room. “Let’s figure out the rest of the roles.”
Seokjin was standing in front of an honest-to-God whiteboard that he made Jungkook help him carry out from the basement. Carefully written on the whiteboard was a list all the main characters from Hamilton.
“Namjoon should be Hamilton,” Jungkook nominated.
Namjoon frowned. “But I wanted to be Washington.”
“You can be both,” Jungkook replied.
“That does not work,” Namjoon said. “Literally all of Washington’s songs are with Hamilton. How in the world am I supposed to do both?”
“Carefully,” Jungkook relied without missing a beat look Namjoon dead in the eye.
“No,” Namjoon answered. “Do you know who would kill at One Last Time? Tae. Taehyung would kill One Last Time.”
Taehyung rose up from his seat, like he was about to accept this award. “I graciously accept this role, and vow to do you all proud.”
While Taehyung continued his ‘acceptance speech,’ Yoongi mumbled, “Great, now we have to listen to Taehyung stumble through Right Hand Man.”
“Hey!” Taehyung yelled, turning his attention to Yoongi. “I’ll let you know that I’m going to rock it!” Then turning to the rest of the group. “As the kids say. It’s going to be...”
“Tae no,” Jimin groaned.
“LLLLIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!” Taehyung punctured the statement with a series of dabs that Jungkook joined in with.
“I apologize on Taehyung behalf,” Jimin said to the group, pulling Taehyung ot sit down. “He thinks that it makes him one of the cool kids.”
“I am one of the cool kids,” Taehyung pouted.
“I nominate Yoongi as Burr,” Hoseok suggested. “The buzzkill of Hamilton should be played by the buzzkill of our group.”
“Rude,” Yoongi shoved Hoseok. “But I’m calling dibs on Lafayette and Jefferson. There is literally no way that you can stop me from rapping to Guns and Ships.”
“Do both,” Seokjin said as he wrote Yoongi’s name beside Burr, then beside Lafayette/Jefferson.
“Wait,” Namjoon stopped Seokjin from finishing to write Yoongi’s name. “Burr and Lafayette/Jefferson has songs together.”
“You think that will stop me?” Yoongi scoffed.
Seokjin consulted the remaining characters available. “So what’s left is Eliza, Angelica, King George, and a bunch of the other minor characters.” Seokjin frowned at than board then added his name beside King George. “Any objections to that?”
Everyone shook his head.
“I’ll be all the other minor characters and ensemble,” Taehyung offered. “They won’t conflict with Peggy/Maria, or Washington.”
“I’m offering up Jimin as Eliza,” Jungkook said.
Jimin who had been watching passively looked startled. “Wait. What? No thanks.”
“Why?” Jungkook said, leaning into Jimin’s shoulder. “You would be so good! Plus I know Helpless is your go-to shower song.”
“How do you know about my shower song Jungkook?” Jimin asked staring daggers at Taehyung.
“Lucky guess,” Jungkook chirped. “But thanks for confirming it!”
Seokjin wrote Jimin’s name beside Eliza. “That only leaves Angelica,” Seokjin said. “Jungkook, why don’t you be Angelica?”
Jungkook stared at his older brother for a moment, before smiling that up-to-no-good smile. “No, you’re being Angelica.”
“I’m already King George,” Seokjin reminded the younger.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. “King George that has nine minutes of screen time? I think not.”
“What about Tae?” Seokjin gestured towards the boy in question. “He’s Peggy/Maria. He has less screen time than me.”
“I’m also all the other ensemble parts plus Washington,” Taehyung piped up. “I think you should totally be Angelica.”
“If I’m Angelica,” Jin relented. “Then Hoseok should be King George.”
“Nah,” Hoseok said, leaning back. “I’m good.”
“If Jin is Angelica,” Yoongi said from off to the side. “I’m looking forward to seeing him tearing Namjoon a new one during Reynolds Pamphlet.”
Namjoon frowned. “It’s not like you haven’t seen that before everytime I accidentally broke a piece of the set.”
“But we all know it’s much more powerful in song form,” Hoseok said like he was reciting a fact.
Yoongi nodded along. “RIP Namjoon. He will be missed.”
“RIP me,” Namjoon agreed.
“I’m not going to be both Angelica and King George,” Seokjin pouted.
Jungkook got up and plucked the marker from Seokjin’s hand. Seokjin was too surprised to stop Jungkook from writing his name beside Angelica.
“Your names on the board,” Jungkook said once he was done writing. “Now you have no choice.”
“It’s a whiteboard,” Seokjin looked unimpressed. “I can erase it.”
“Nooooo,” Jungkook whined. “Let me have this.”
“Let all of us have this,” Jimin added.
“You’re literally Angelica Jin,” Yoongi smiled. “The older sibling giving up what they love for the sake of the younger. The overprotectiveness that will cause the sibling to fight to the death to anyone who hurts the younger.”
“I love you Kook,” Seokjin deadpanned. “But I would not give up food for you.”
“You know that’s not what I mean,” Yoongi frowned.
Seokjin sighed. “Fine. Whatever. I’ll be Angelica.”
“And George?” Taehyung pushed.
“And George.”
Jungkook started jumping up and down in excitement. “Now that all the parts are filled, let’s start!” Jungkook reached over to the sound system to start the tracks, but Seokjin stopped him.
“Wait! Before we start, there are rules.”
“Really Jin?” Jungkook groaned.
Seokjin ignored his brother. “Like all things musicals, we go big, or don’t go at all. So pull up lyrics if you have to. Cause I’d rather you read lyrics off your phone then flub a line. This is serious, people!”
Jimin leaned over to Jungkook. “Is Seokjin always like this at your musical parties?”
“Musical parties are serious business,” Jungkook whispered back. “I once missed a line during our Rent party and Seokjin didn’t talk to me for the rest of the night. Seokjin once came in a bar too early while we were singing through The Last 5 Years and he had to do my dishes for the week to make up for it. This is serious business.”
Seokjin was still continuing on his dramatic lecture. “We sing for the honour of our families. Our honour is at stake. We must-”
“Yeah yeah,” Yoongi interrupted. “We get it. Don’t mess up. Let’s just start.”
Hoseok shoved Yoongi for his interruption. “I was enjoying that speech. We didn’t get a dramatic Seokjin stage manager speech this year. I was getting my fill.”
Seokjin was about to say something else, but before he could Jungkook pressed play, and the opening bars of Hamilton started playing.
