Work Text:
Kunikida was waiting by the ice-skating rink, covered head to toe with warm clothing. He wasn't going to risk falling sick, not in this weather. And he definitely wasn't going to give Dazai a chance to slack off.
Speaking of the Devil, Dazai showed up, wearing only a beige sweater, black jeans and a red scarf around his neck. Kunikida sighed, he hoped that Dazai wouldn't fall sick. He already took off-days willy-nilly and increased Kunikida's work load. This was one of the few days where they could actually take a day off. Dazai suggested that they could go ice-skating and that Kunikida could teach him. Kunikida agreed but forgot one tiny detail.
He had not skated in years.
Kunikida figured that it wouldn't be that much of a problem. He had handled worse things before. Surely ice-skating wouldn't be so hard. He forgot to consider that Dazai was involved.
"AAAAA KUNIKIDA!!! I'M FALLING!" Dazai yelled as he clung to Kunikida's arm. Kunikida lost his balance, yet somehow recovered it. He was now wobbling with a Dazai clinging to him for dear life.
"Dazai! I can't skate when you cling to me like this!"
"But I can't skate if I let you go!" Dazai retorted, moving his legs about like a colt and trying to get his footing.
The two of them wobbled over the rink, and soon they skated over a thin patch of ice. Kunikida felt the ice crack underneath him, and held Dazai close to him.
"Dazai, whatever you do, don't move," Kunikida whispered as they stood over the cracking ice. "Now...let's try to move slowly..." As soon as he finished the sentence, Dazai tried to move quickly and the ice broke underneath them.

Dazai sneezed and grumbled, "Why didn't you tell me you didn't know how to skate??"
They both were in the infirmary, with Yosano making sure the hypothermia didn't get worse. They were in beds near each other, so at least they could converse with each other.
"I didn't want to spoil this day together, I thought I knew enough."
Dazai turned over to his side and huffed, "In one way, you manage to take a longer break."
Kunikida hummed in agreement, then it clicked: Dazai may have done this on purpose. He would yell at him, but he was too tired. Maybe he needed the rest that Dazai was nagging him about. He shut his eyes and rested, taking the most of his extended leave to heal and relax.
