When It Snows

Summary:

Of course the nerd wanted to build a snowman! And of course there was no snow! It hadn't snowed enough for them to build a snowman since they were six years old.

It had been lightly snowing for a few days now and all of Deku's stupid friends had to be away. Iida and Uraraka were away on a hero tour in California, where it was snowing tremendously. And of course, since Uraraka and Deku were best friends, she told him every day about how wonderful the snow was. If only she could see the way that Deku's eyes gazed out the window only to fill with disappointment when there was barely any snow. Todoroki and Momo were too busy with their pro-hero duties. Of course, Todoroki tried to help Deku with his craving for snow, only o freeze the pool in their backyard. How he ended up doing that was a mystery to pretty much everyone. Of course Deku tried to get in touch with Asui and Kirishima and Kaminari and Mina and... PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE THAT WAS IN THEIR CLASS. Actually, he even contacted Shinsou, who hadn't even been in their class.

And Kacchan was his last option.

Their relationship had been mended over the years to the point where they were comfortable enough to live together, but Deku still hesitated when it came to asking him for things. Although this wasn't really a thing that he would be asking for.
So of course Bakugou knew what Deku was going to ask him when he came up to him that morning.
"Kacchan?" Deku asked softly, still doubting if he should do this.
Bakugou looked up from the television.
"Uhm..." He hesitanted. "Would you-"
"Deku." Bakugou cut him off.
Deku jumped a little and looked at him. "Yes?"
Bakugou sighed. It frustrates him that Deku was still so jumpy around him when it came to certain things. He knew that it was his fault for all the things that he did when they were kids, and he knew that no matter what he did it wouldn't change his past actions. He just hoped that he could get Deku comfortable enough with him that he wouldn't have to worry about talking to him about things he enjoyed. "I'll build a snowman with you."
Deku deflated and looked down. "I know but-" He paused for a few seconds before looking back up at Bakugou. "Can you say that again?"
Bakugou chuckled lightly before repeating what he had said, "I'll build a snowman with you."
Deku's eyes lit up. "Really, Kacchan?" He said excitedly.
Bakugou nodded.
Deku's face looked like it might just split in half if he smiled any wider. "Thank you so so so so so much!"
Bakugou laughed a little. He'd never say it out loud, but he would do anything to make the stupid green-haired nerd in front of him smile.
Deku turned to look out the window quickly, almost slipping on the floor. Bakugou noticed his signature All Might socks. He rolled his eyes and watched the other excitedly look out the window.
He deflated. "There's barely any snow out there..." He mumbled, turning away from the window.
God, Deku had those big green puppy-dog eyes that that had the power to make anyone say anything. And that's exactly what they were doing to Bakugou right now.
"Don't worry about it, Deku. It'll probably snow later today."
Deku smiles a little and nodded. "You're right." He said before he started walking to the kitchen. "I'll make snacks until there's snow."
Bakugou nodded and watched him leave. After Deku left, Bakugou sighed and sunk down on the couch.
His eyes shifted over to the window. There was no way that it was going to snow today.

Three hours later and the weather was proving him right. As much as Bakugou liked being right, he wouldn't have minded being wrong just this once.
"I don't think that we'll get any more snow today, Kacchan." Deku said as he walked into the room with a bowl of chips that he had been eating.
"Oh come on, we still have the rest of the day."
Deku smiled a little sadly at him. "Thanks Kacchan, but... I don't think so." He said before turned around and leaving.
Bakugou frowned and sunk down into his spot on the couch a little more.
The rest of the day went by as Deku did his own things, sometimes passing by Bakugou and looking out the window longingly. Bakugou was thisclose to fighting God or whatever higher power that decided to be an asshole that day.
"Kacchan, have you eaten today?" Deku asked as he came out of the kitchen.
Bakugo turned away from his perch by the window. "Huh?"
Deku sighed, a sad smile forming on his face. "Thank you for being willing to build a snowman with me, but it doesn't look like that'll happen this year. Let's have hot chocolate instead, yeah?"
Bakugou's eyes flicked over to the window for a few seconds before they returned to Deku. "Sounds good."

After drinking hot chocolate, Deku somehow coerced Bakugou into watching The Grinch with him. Bakugou's face was sore from how much glaring he directed towards Deku for saying that he was like the grinch. Before the movie had even ended, Bakugou heard a little snore next to him. He paused to movie and looked over to see Deku curled up underneath a small blanket with his arms wrapped around himself. A small smile sprouted on Bakugou's face before he stood up and grabbed a bigger, thicker blanket to wrap around Deku. He moved Deku gently so he was laying on his side before he turned to make his way to his own bed. Which is where he intended to go, but he was stopped by a small tug on his shirt.
"Kacchan?" He heard a small voice from behind him.
"Go back to sleep, Deku." Bakugou whispered, gently pulling Deku's hand off of his shirt.
Deku hummed softly. "Thank you Kacchan."
Bakugou was silent for a few seconds before he asked, "For what?"
Deku opened his eyes slightly to look at him, a small smile spreading across his lips. "For being so amazing."
He's heard that before. He's heard Deku praise him before, call him amazing. In middle school, he would've thought that the nerd was looking down on him. In high school, he wouldn't have accepted his praise as something sincere. But he was in middle school anymore, and they had graduated from high school, and he knew that Deku meant what he said. He knew that he really believed that his Kacchan was amazing.
It hadn't been the first time that Bakugou heard Deku say something like that since high school, but for some reason, the look in Deku's sleepy eyes made his heart race when he heard those words.
"You're welcome." He replied before turning away and going to his own bed to sleep.

The next morning he was rudely awoken by a deadweight being thrown at him. Or rather not a deadweight, but a very alive one.
"Kacchan! Kacchan! Kacchan!" Deku yelled, bouncing on him.
"Jesus christ Deku!" Bakugou yelled, his eyes shooting open. "What the fuck?!" He yelled, angry that someone would dare to wake him, especially so abruptly.
But Deku didn't seem the least bit disturbed by his demeanor. "Kacchan! It's snowing!"
Bakugou glared at him, waiting for the nerd to pay attention to him.
"Kacchan! Kacchan! Kacchan!" He chanted, bouncing up and down on him.
"Jesus, stop that!" Bakugou yelled, trying to push him off.
Deku just giggled and pushed Bakugou back like it was a game.
Bakugou growled and flipped their positions, pinning Deku on the bed underneath him. "Deku!"
Deku giggled and looked up at him. "Kacchan!" He said back, smiling.
Bakugou glared at him for a few seconds before he rolled his eyes and shifting to the side, sitting up off the bed. Deku watched him curiously.
Bakugou turned around and looked at him. "Are we going to go build a snowman or what?"
Deku's face immediately lit up. "Thank you Kacchan!" He squealed before dashing off of the bed and out of the room to go dress in warmer clothes.
Bakugou scoffed and started to change into something appropriate for going out in the snow.

"Deku!" Bakugou yelled, his arms crossed as he waited by the front door. "If you don't get out here soon, all the snow will melt!"
"Sorry Kacchan!" Deku yelled, sprinting out of his room. He was completely bundled up, it looked like his mom had dressed him.
Bakugou chuckled. "What are you wearing, nerd?"
Deku smiled. "I don't want to get frostbite."
Bakugou rolled his eyes and opened the front door. "Let's go, before all the snow is gone."
He was barely halfway out the door before Deku was pushing him to go faster.
Bakugou closed the door as Deku flopped into the snow. "Ah! It's so cold!" He said, snow sticking to his face.
"Yeah, it's snow." Bakugou said, a deadpan expression on his face.
Deku giggled and threw some snow at him. "Come on Kacchan! Let's build a snowman."

It took then until lunch, but they finally built a snowman, it looked like a chubby all might due to the two pillars of snow that formed a v on top of its head (courtesy of Deku).
Deku flopped down in the snow next to Bakugou and looked over at him. "Thanks Kacchan." He said softly, a smile spread across his face.
Bakugou turned his head to look at him, pausing a second to admire his rosy cheeks painted with freckles. "Yeah, whatever nerd," He responded in the least menacing way possible.
Deku giggled and threw a snowball in his face before running off. "You're getting soft Kacchan!"
Bakugou stood and balled up a big snowball in his hand. "Oh yeah, Deku?!" He yelled before he started chasing his childhood friend.
This was nice, being able to act like they were normal. It was nice to pretend that they were kid best friends, even if they weren't kids anymore. It was nice for Bakugou to smile without feeling like he didn't deserve to and it was nice for Deku to be able to finally see his Kacchan genuinely smiling because of him.
