After All The Years I've Known You...

Summary:

"Who is she?" Kirishima asked.

Bakugo's eyes followed the red head's finger up to the stadium where a familliar (h/c) haired girl sat. His eye twitched as he noted the two flags positioned in each of your hands. In your right hand waved an orange flag with the words, ' Bakugo Katuski' while your left hand held a green flag with the words 'Midoriya Izuku.' A low growl emmitted from his throat.

"You stupid tomato face! You can't root for both of us! It's one or the other!"

------

A story in which the reader is childhood friends with both Bakugo and Midoriya

Chapter 1: Playgrounds, Bullies and First Time Heroes

Chapter Text

Screams filled the air as chaos reigned all around you. Cries of pain, sadness, and happiness blurred together until you couldn’t distinguish which was which. Stealing, pushing, running everywhere you looked. It was a nightmare, and what did your mother say as you gripped her hand in terror? She said, “Go play. Make some friends!”

You looked at her as if she grew two heads before turning back to the brightly colored monstrosity known as the playground. Most kids your age would be happy to see it, you weren’t most kids. Playground meant kids and kids meant interacting which you didn’t like to do. It wasn’t that you were antisocial or anything, but words tended to easily jumble up in your throat before you even utter a ‘hi’ to anyone. Your mother knew this yet she threw you to the wolves anyway.

After minutes of trying to convince her to take you home, you walked over to the sandbox dejected. It wasn’t your favorite place on the playground, but you generally could avoid getting pushed or stomped by others. Pouring your bucket with sand you tried your best to pass time. Sand castle after sand castle your plan seemed to work until a familiar pair of white sneakers crashed down on the castle in front of you. Insatiable laughter rung out as you blinked the sand away to see the familiar ugly face of Hiro Tanaka before you. The kindergartener was the bane of your existence, and partial reason for your dislike of parks.

“Well if it isn’t little Miss Stupid.” Hiro sneered. “I thought I told you never to show your ugly face here again. ”

Your blood ran cold at his words. You opened your mouth to speak, but closed it remembering what happened whenever you tried to speak to him. “You got something to say stupid? Can you even sp-speak right?” Hiro taunted.

And there you had it… the reason why you hated talking to others the thing your parents called a stutter. “Come on, dummy speak! Speak!” Hiro demanded, pulling your cheeks. It hurt. You wanted to cry that it hurt, for him to stop, and to beg for help, but your mouth remained shut. Where was your mother? Why wasn’t she helping you? Why wasn’t anyone helping you?

“You leave her alone!” A high pitched voice yelled as a green blur barreled into Hiroko.

The kindergartener let out a loud 'oof’ falling into the sand. On top of him sat a boy with fluffy green hair and freckles. He was smaller than Hiroko, but in that moment he looked larger than anyone you seen before. “You…stupid five year old! I’m going to kill you!” Hiroko roared, pushing the kid off him. “I’m going to use my quirk!”

“No!” The sound escaped you before you could even realize said it.

Hiroko froze, his ire quickly turning on you. “What did you say?”

Swallowing you glanced from the bully to the green haired boy. The hairs on your neck rose and a small voice whispered, 'run,’ but you couldn’t. The boy saved you, you couldn’t leave him to Hiroko’s whims.

“I s-said n-no.” You stuttered, trying to sound firm.

Hiroko’s face darkened. “You think you can tell me what to do? I’ll teach you!”

“No. Leave her alone!” Green haired cried, latching on to Hiroko’s leg.

Hiroko pushed him off, stomping towards you. This was it. You were going to die. He raised his fist, “I hope you said your prayers, because you’re dead!”

You closed your eyes……………..

BOOM!

Boom? Smoke filled your vision as you opened your eyes. Slowly it cleared to reveal a K.O'ed Hiroko on the ground and a spikey blond haired boy next time you. A victorious grin spread across the kid’s lips. “You aren’t so tough. I’ve seen better.”

What?

“Kacchan! That was super cool. You’re so strong!” Green haired boy cried, stars in his eyes.

What was happening?

“Of course I am. With a quirk like mine, I’ll become the best in no time. ” Kacchan grinned.

“Totally! I can’t wait until I get my quirk. Then I’ll be strong like you.”

“Yeah, whatever. You’ll never be as stronger than me, Deku.”

You watched them admiration growing.

Hiroko said they were four years old making them one year older than you. Five year-olds beat up the baddest guy you knew-you wanted to be just like them.

“Ummm…ex-excuse me.” You called out. Your fingers fiddled nervously with each other.

They blinked obviously having forgotten you were there. “You’re still around?” Kacchan asked face twisted.

You blanched, “I-I-I just want-ted to say th-thank you.”

Deku smiled brightly. “You’re welcome. You’re not hurt are you?”

You shook your head. “Great. ” Kacchan huffed. “Come on, Deku. Let’s go play!”

'Go play. Make some friends. 'Your mother’s words echoed in your head. No. You didn’t want them to go yet. You wanted to play with them. They were so nice…

“Can I play with you?!” It was the clearest you ever spoken in your life, but you were determine not to let this opportunity to go to waste.

Deku blinked looking slightly confused. “Sure.”

Kacchan smirked. “Great another wimp to look after. Just don’t get in my way pipsqueak, okay?”

“O-okay.”
