THIS IS A JOKE I AM SO SORRY

Work Text:

Some people would claim to have a soulmate, someone that they knew everything about and would spend the rest of their lives and eternity with. Someone that they could tell everything to. They would claim to know exactly when they’re hurting and would claim that a part of them would be missing if said soulmate were to die. Some would even go as far as to say they’d know the exact moment that person died.

Namjoon used to think that these sort of claims were fools. He hadn’t think the people making them were insane, just obsessively attached to the point that they had fooled themselves into buying the entire soulmate deal.

However, his stance on it completely changed when he found his soulmate.

He knew when they were hurting. He knew when they were happy, or cold, or even hot. He knew if they were tired and he could tell where they were without even looking at them. And he knows for a fact he would know if they died, the bond between them so strong he honestly didn’t believe it himself.

They’d known eachother since forever, really. Namjoon doesn’t remember a time he went without them. They’ve always been there, supporting him in his lowest times. It would be unnatural to be without them, almost like cutting off an essential bodypart.

Which, in hindsight, he guessed it was like an essential bodypart. Because, well, it was.

His feet. He loved his feet. He could kiss them and give them massages every day. He had initially not wanted to spread his secret so quickly, but love couldn’t be hidden forever. He told anyone willing, and the majority of people found him crazy, but not his ex Sarah. She listened, though was a bit understandably upset when Namjoon told her that he was leaving her for his feet. Love always wins in the end.

But he hadn’t confessed to them yet. Yes, he gave them loving pats and soft touches and bought the softest socks for them to be snuggled in. He got chemical-free, all-natural lotion to later them in every morning and night and even bought a pricey foot massager for them. They’ve even had sex a few times (or really, it was Namjoon masturbating. But he believes they enjoyed it because of the way they had curled and tensed then suddenly lay boneless at the end of his legs). He didn’t do pedicures or clip his toenails, because they preferred to be let free. So he let his nails grow, and eventually could only wear flip flops or clown shoes they were so long. He did everything for them. But he hadn’t popped the question. He couldn’t bring himself to ask if they wanted to date Namjoon.

He looked down at them as he prepared to get ready for bed. They always had such a poker face - never showing their true emotions until Namjoon told a bad joke. So loveable, but so hard to read.

Namjoom crawled into bed, tucking his feet gently under the covers and smiling as they wriggled a bit, getting comfy. Within minutes they were stilled, but Namjoon couldn’t sleep. He had to know.

“I love you guys. Do you love me? I think we should get together. Date, and such. You know.”

Namjoon trailed off with a sigh, not expecting a response. They were asleep, and after such a long day too. Suddenly, they twitched, and he could sense them saying they loved him too.

Date us! They seemed to cry out, moving from right to left and kicking away the blankets. We love you!

“Really?” Namjoon asked, shocked. “I-I love you too. Oh my god. You really want to be together?”

They seemed to nod, and that was enough for Namjoon.

If you asked him today, he’d say yes, he believed in soulmates. Why? Because he found his.
