Jimin was cooped up in his room, curled up in his bed with numerous blankets thrown over his body, forming a human burrito. His Jin hyung had come in earlier and laid with him, but he left when Namjoon hyung came home, so Jimin was left to his thoughts.
Most days went like this. He attended his morning classes then came home to barely touch his lunch before going to take his afternoon nap. On Tuesday’s though, he had no classes. Today happened to be Tuesday and Jimin had yet to get out of bed.
He mindlessly stared up at the ceiling, hearing the voices of his roommates outside the door. He knew normally in about twenty minutes or so, Taehyung would come in to lay with him. If Jimin seemed to be in a better, friendlier mood, he would text Jungkook to come along about ten minutes in.
The others like to believe that Jimin is oblivious to everything, but in reality, his eyes are always on the clock. It was the only thing keeping him sane. Each day felt the same to him, but the clock always told him that it was a new one. It gave him hope that someday he would be able to get up and get over his moping.
For right now though, Jimin was okay.
At least he thought he was.
After the clock hit two, the normal time Taehyung came in, it was silent. Jimin waited to hear his best friend’s laughter getting closer until he slowly opened the door like he had been doing for the past couple of months now. He was met with nothing.
Jimin waited another minute. Two minutes. Five minutes. Ten minutes.
Worried about the deathly silence of the house, he wandered out of his room. Jimin knew that he probably looked a mess at the moment, but it was the least of his concerns. The hoodie and sweats that his hyung loved so much were the only thing that could provide comfort on days like this. So he always wore them on Tuesday’s.
He was now standing in the middle of the living room where the TV was running, but no one was sat on the couch. Jimin was genuinely worried and confused at this point. He was about to turn around and go back to his room to see if they texted him when he heard rustling in the kitchen.
“Taehyung-ah?” Jimin called out when he heard the sink turn on.
The house fell into silence again as soon as Jimin spoke. He furrowed his eyebrows and approached the kitchen. “Tae?”
Jimin rounded the corner and was met with an empty kitchen. There was a plate of steaming food and a glass half filled. Okay, he was a bit scared at this point.
Flashback
December 27, 2014
Jimin woke up, expecting to be welcomed by the face of his handsome boyfriend and morning cuddles, but instead was welcomed to a cold and empty bed. He sat up on the bed and grabbed his phone to check the time which read 8:17 PM.
“Yoongi? Jimin mumbled quietly to himself even though Yoongi was clearly not in the room. That fucker. “How could he leave me here alone?” He complained while using the palms of his hands to rub at his tired eyes.
He stepped out of bed and slipped his feet into a pair bunny slippers his boyfriend had gotten him. Yoongi bought his own pair to match. Jimin continued out into the hallway in search of his boyfriend only to find a lonely plate of steaming food with a glass half filled in the kitchen.
‘This looks kind of good.’ Jimin thought to himself as he took a quick glance around the kitchen before proceeding to pick up the pair of chopsticks resting on the table. He picked up some of the noodles and lightly blew on it, bringing it to his mouth to take a bite.
Much to his dismay, Jimin was interrupted by someone wrapping their arms around his shoulders and pressing a chaste kiss to his cheek. “You always like to touch my things, don't you?” Yoongi commented from behind, effectively causing Jimin to drop the noodles in shock.
“Yeah. Especially your noodles. It’s my favorite hobby.” Jimin stated cheekily as he places the chopsticks back into the bowl, looking at Yoongi over his shoulder. “Got a problem with it?”
“Normally, no. But right now, you need to get your fucking hands off my food. I didn’t get to eat breakfast because you made me nap with you. Don’t take my food time away from me too.”
Jimin turned around in Yoongi’s arms so he was now facing him. “You’re acting like napping with me wasn’t beneficial to you. You love sleeping, hyung.” He smiled shyly as he wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s neck. Jimin still got butterflies everytime he was in close proximity of Yoongi.
“I do love naps. But it’s kind of hard to sleep when you’re hungry and your clingy boyfriend is laying on you so if you make a single move he will wake up and probably not have sex with you for a month because of how angry he is. I was just looking out for myself, babe.” Yoongi lightly squeezed Jimin’s waist.
Jimin pouted, pretending to be mad before moving out of Yoongi’s way. “Okay, sorry, hyung. I guess I’ll just leave you with your food since you seem more concerned about it than hanging with me. Your clingy boyfriend. But it’s fine. I’m fine.”
“Jiminie. Don’t be like this.” Yoongi sighed and grabbed Jimin’s wrist. “Come eat with your hyung.”
“You don’t have to pretend. I get it. I’m clingy. You wanted to be alone” Jimin pulled his wrist out of Yoongi's hold and walked back towards the direction of their shared room.
Although Jimin was faking being upset, he still did sometimes feel as if Yoongi was annoyed with his presence. Jimin really was clingy. Physically and emotionally. He’s a lot to deal with at times.
Yoongi pinched the bridge of his nose before grabbing his food and walking toward Jimin’s room. The door was thankfully unlocked and opened. So Jimin wasn’t truly upset. He walked in and saw his boyfriend laying on his bed. Yoongi set his food down on the side table before flopping right on top of Jimin. “Hi, Minnie.”
“Stop. You’re precious food is getting cold.”
“Aigoo, so is my precious boyfriend.” Yoongi teasingly smiled to hopefully get Jimin in a better mood, nuzzling his face into his neck. “Got to keep you warm, hm?” He doted on Jimin, making sure to pull the blankets over them.
“You’re gross. Go home.”
Yoongi pursed his lips before clearing his throat. “Park Jimin. You are my home.” He said in a soft voice.
“Oh my god. Fine. Okay, you win.” Jimin let out a laugh before running his hands through Yoongi's hair. “You really know how to be cute, don’t you?”
Yoongi finally sat up so he wasn’t crushing Jimin anymore. “That’s all I wanted to hear, baby. You won’t ever hear me get that sappy again.” He smiled triumphantly.
“Except when you propose to me.” Jimin nudged Yoongi with his leg, grinning widely.
Yoongi grabbed his bowl of food, noodles already halfway into his mouth. “Jiminie. We’ve been dating for three weeks.”
“So?” Jimin said, avoiding Yoongi’s eyes. “A-Am I thinking too far ahead? Sorry. Didn’t mean to make things awkward. I just thought we’d be together forever, you know. So like I-”
Yoongi shut him up with a kiss, nipping lightly at his bottom lip before pulling away. “Shut up, Jimin.” He ran a hand through Jimin’s hair. “You think too much.”
“I do?”
Yoongi nodded, pulling Jimin so he was sitting upright. “You do.” He placed his hand on Jimin’s knee. “Don’t overthink things. I was just teasing you, baby.”
“Oh.” Jimin was looking down on Yoongi’s hand on him. “Okay. Does it just feel like sometimes like I’m too much? Cause like I’m constantly in your space.”
“I don’t mind. As a possessive person, I’m thriving when you cling to me.” Yoongi laughed, squeezing Jimin’s knee lightly before turning more serious. “You really don’t annoy me, Jimin.”
“Are you sure? I feel like you stay locked up in your studio all the time because I don’t leave you alone otherwise.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Min. I miss you when I’m in there, but I stay there longer in the day so I can spend my nights with you. I like falling asleep with you.”
Jimin was blushing at this point, hiding his face in Yoongi’s shoulder. “You should come visit me when you miss me. I’m right outside you know.”
Yoongi hummed, kissing the top of Jimin’s head. “I would, but once I see you, I probably won’t go back to my studio. I’ve got deadlines, babe. You’re a pretty distraction.”
Jimin kissed Yoongi’s jaw before moving away from Yoongi. He grabbed one of the many stuffed bears he sleeps with. What? He can’t always get cuddles from Yoongi. Bears are the next best thing. He smiled before handing his favorite to Yoongi. “Here. For when you miss me. You can just hug this instead.”
Yoongi grabbed the bear and examined it carefully. Once he did, he did what any reasonable human would do in this situation and attacked him boyfriend with all the affection in the world. “Why are you so fucking cute?” He asked in between a million kisses.
Jimin was laughing, arms trying to push Yoongi away while also soaking in all the love. “Stop! You’re food is gonna go cold.”
“Hm. I’d rather be enjoying something else right now.” Yoongi smirked before pressing his lips to Jimin’s.
...
Jimin blinked before looking down at his feet, the bunny slippers staring back at him.
This was weird. Jimin cautiously stepped closer to the bowl and saw the same bowl of noodles that Yoongi had eaten all those months ago.
“Yoongi.” He whispered to himself, staring at the entrance to the kitchen where his boyfriend had walked through.
Suddenly the garage door opened and Jimin whipped his head around so fast, hoping it was who he thought it was.
“Jiminie.” Hoseok said cheerfully, a new pack of soda in his hand. “Good to see you out of bed.” He set the box down.
“Y-yeah.” Jimin stuttered, getting over the shock of dejavu.
“You alright?” Hoseok questioned, hearing the hesitation in the younger’s voice.
Jimin nodded forcefully. “Just confused. Where’s Tae?”
“Oh. He and Jungkook went shopping to buy something for a project. I was going to tell you after I finished making us food. Hungry?”
With a shake of his head, Jimin grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. “I’m okay, hyung. I’ll eat dinner with everyone when their home. I’m going to go lie down.”
Hoseok just nodded with concerned eyes before watching Jimin walk back into the hallway.
Jimin hesitated going into his room. He was feeling weird after that flashback he had. Yoongi felt like he was right there with Jimin.
He shook off that feeling before quickly making up his mind. Jimin crept back down the hallway, peering around the corner to see what Hoseok was doing. He looked to be invested in the cheesy drama playing on the screen so he snuck behind him and headed straight for the door.
Jimin slipped on his shoes, letting out a sigh of relief once he was outside. It wasn’t that he was hiding from Hoseok, but recently all of his roommates over worried about him. If Hoseok knew he was going out, he’d most likely come along with Jimin. And Jimin did not want anyone with him. Not now, at least.
He made his way down the busy sidewalk until he reached the familiar alley where he and his boyfriend often visited. The feeling of nostalgia was building up in the pit of his stomach, vague memories of the times they came here played through his head when seeing the entrance of the train station.
Jimin’s thoughts clouded his senses, replaying the same scenes in his head. The clamor of the world fading away as ducked under the caution tape and stepped further into the station. The area still untouched, the only new addition is the new graffiti drawings etched onto the walls.
His eyes wandered over to a little section of the wall off to the side. A small smile appeared on his lips as he thought back to that moment.
Flashback
January 20, 2014
“Yoongi, this is illegal!”
“Shush, Jimin. I don’t want to mess this up.” Yoongi whispered with concentration. “Besides, being in here is illegal itself, yet we do it all the time.”
“We are doing illegal activity in an illegal place. That’s two negatives. Do you know what that equals? A positive. That means I’m positive this is still illegal.” Jimin crosses his arms as he glances at the exit to see if the police were potentially after them.
Yoongi sighed and looked up at his boyfriend. “Jiminie, that means it cancels it out. So technically this is legal. Now shut up before I make your name look ugly.” He said playfully as he picked up the cans of spray paint.
Jimin let out a sharp gasp “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me,” Yoongi smirked before returning his attention to the brick wall. “Now what color? I’ve got black, blue, pink, and silver.”
“I want all four.”
Yoongi didn’t say anything, but proceeded to write out their initials with the four colors. “Wanna draw the heart out, Minnie?”
“I’m not very good at using spray paint, but I guess.”
“Here.” Yoongi drew out half of a heart around their initials before handing the can over to Jimin. “Finish up the rest, babe.”
Jimin took his time trying to match his side to Yoongi’s to the best of his ability. “Done!” He said, staring at the crooked heart.
Yoongi hummed, stepping back to take it in. “Now you can’t say that I never do anything romantic for you.”
“I guess this is kind of romantic. But it’s illegal. Just know if we get caught, I don’t know you.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes. “Stop worrying so much. If we end up getting chased by the police, which we won’t,” He grabbed the can of black spray paint. “I’ll protect you.”
“Awh! You’re so sweet, my Yoongi bear!” Jimin turned around to pinch Yoongi's cheeks while emphasizing on his favorite nickname for him. He knew that it annoyed his boyfriend, but he couldn’t help himself. Min Yoongi was a cutie.
Yoongi dropped the can of spray paint to hold onto Jimin's hands so he could stop attacking his face. “Baby, stop.” Yoongi couldn’t help, but laugh. “You’re annoying.”
Jimin grinned and helped Yoongi pick up the rest of the cans and put them away. “No I’m not.”
“Yeah, you are.” Yoongi smiled a bit. “The most annoying person I know.”
Jimin gasped. “Take that back! Or I won’t hold your hand on the way home.”
Yoongi glared at his boyfriend. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me.” Jimin smirked before holding out his hand and wiggling his fingers. “Take it back, hyung.”
Yoongi took in a breath before looking at his stupidly adorable boyfriend. “Park Jimin, you are not annoying whatsoever and I am so lucky to call you my boyfriend.”
“Wah! Yoonie is so nice to me.” Jimin pinched his cheeks again before pressing his lips to Yoongi’s nose.
“Yeah, yeah.” Yoongi blushed before taking Jimin’s awaiting hands. “Let’s go before the police show up.”
Jimin nodded and tugged his boyfriend up the stairs to be above ground once more. “Can we do facemasks when we get back, babe?”
“Whatever you want, Jiminie.”
...
He took a deep breath and made his way out of the station since it was getting pretty late. Jimin took the long way home, not watching the time. He wasn’t aware of the fifteen missed calls on his phone from his hyungs wondering where he was.
Jimin stopped once he reached a bridge that he often found himself at whenever he wanted time to himself. The train station was his and Yoongi’s place, but this bridge was a place just to himself. He boosted himself up in order to sit on the ledge.
Jimin used to be scared, thinking he would fall in, but overtime, it became less scary to him. Instead he would just focus on the water flowing through the river underneath him, giving him peace instead of anxiety.
It would be easy, wouldn’t it? To just jump off and end it all. He is destined to die at some point, and this way he could be with Min Yoongi earlier.
He leaned over a bit more trying to get a better view of the fish that swam below his feet. He raised his arms up, stretching his tense muscles out.
Jimin was about to run a hand through his hair, but instead, he found himself being pulled backward. He let out a shriek, being caught off guard. The arms around him were tight and didn’t let go even when Jimin was safe on his feet.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” A familiar deep voice hissed into his ear.
Jimin was startled at the voice. He knew it all too well. It was the same voice that he found himself longing ever since that day. The only voice that knew how to calm him down with just a few words. Yoongi’s voice.
“You can’t just fucking jump off a bridge.” Yoongi continued after no response from Jimin.
Jimin slowly turned around in his arms but had his eyes shut. He didn’t want to open his eyes, too scared that if he did, Yoongi would be gone and he’d be left alone once again. Just the thought of it makes a tear run down his cheek.
Yoongi’s eyebrows furrowed as he slowly raised his hands to cup his cheeks instead, his anger fading. “Jiminie.” He whispered softly, wiping away the tear. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re gonna go away.”
The words were said so softly that he wouldn’t be surprised if Yoongi couldn’t hear him. The Yoongi his imagined of course. This time it hurt the most because of how real it felt. How real Yoongi felt.
“Baby,” Yoongi tugged Jimin closed to him, pressing his lips to Jimin’s forehead. “Don’t cry.”
Jimin continued to let the tears softly fall down his cheeks. He couldn’t help it. It felt like Yoongi was actually kissing him. He could feel him everywhere, yet his brain kept telling him he wasn’t. Everything was becoming too much and all he wanted was his boyfriend to actually be there.
“Just go.” Jimin pushed him away weakly when they both knew he wanted the opposite. “You’re not real. I know.”
“Jimin I-”
“Go! Please!” Jimin cried out. “I know that this isn’t real.”
“Jimin! It’s real!” Yoongi tried to explain, but how could he? It barely made sense to himself. “I’m here. It’s really me.” He grabbed Jimin’s wrists to get him to listen.
But Jimin didn’t want to listen at this point, instead, he pulled his hands out of Yoongi’s light grip and over his ears. He started walking back home. He didn’t want this fake Yoongi anymore. It was hurting him more than helping him. He just wanted to crawl back in bed and sleep.
“Jimin-ah. Please, listen to me. I’m gonna sound crazy, but I just need you to listen.” Yoongi followed him, though he knew to keep his distance. He still knew how to handle his upset boyfriend.
“I don’t want to.” Jimin replied, still trying to block him out. Why wasn’t he gone yet?
“I know you’ve been sad.”
Jimin stopped in his tracks but did not turn around. Fake Yoongi would never acknowledge the present. It was always past memories with him.
“I know you don’t get out of bed sometimes,” Yoongi continued, hoping Jimin was listening. “I know that these past couple of months have been hard on you, but trust me, it’s been worse for me. I hate seeing you like this. You deserve to be smiling, but you never do.”
“How?” Jimin turned and looked at Yoongi. His Yoongi. He looked the same. He doesn’t look like the last time he saw Yoongi when he was in the hospital. “How do you know?”
Yoongi tried to smile, but it looked more like a grimace. “I’ve been watching you. Ever since that day. Couldn’t get you out of my head.”
“What- Yoongi, this doesn’t make sense.” Jimin shook his head, trying to clear things up. “Y-You’ve been alive this whole time?”
“Not exactly.” Yoongi glanced around, seeing the few people on the bridge. Some were staring, probably from the scene they made earlier. “Can we talk somewhere else?”
“Why?” Jimin questioned. He knew they probably should go talk somewhere more private, but he just wanted the answers now.
“Stop being difficult,” Yoongi commented back as he grabbed his wrist, taking him further down the bridge into the woods that were nearby.
Jimin let himself be led by his boyfriend… who wasn’t really his boyfriend anymore. He’s still confused. Jimin was so caught up in his own thoughts, he didn’t notice the whispers or stares of the others around him as they passed.
“Yoongi, can you just tell me? I’m really starting to think I’m crazy.” Jimin finally tugged his wrist out of Yoongi’s grip in order to face him. “We’re secluded enough. No one is around now.”
Yoongi took a breath and looked at Jimin, keeping his face void of emotion. “Jimin, you can’t freak out on me.” He paused for a second. When Jimin didn’t say anything to him, he continued on, “But I’m a ghost.”
Jimin let out a small, disbelieving chuckle “That’s funny. I'm pretty sure you are just a figment of my imagination.”
Yoongi was getting a bit frustrated at this point. He normally had an endless amount of patience with Jimin, but he really just wanted him to understand. He muttered a couple of curse words under his breath before grabbing Jimin’s arm and pulling him to his chest. Yoongi leaned in closer to Jimin, his eyes softly fluttered closed.
“I told you, I’m here. I’m real.” Yoongi whispered lightly.
Jimin didn’t respond to Yoongi. He let his eyes close before puckering his lips, awaiting his kiss. He always knew when Yoongi was going to indulge him in his needy ways. A smile graced Yoongi’s lips, staring at Jimin for a second before kissing him.
Jimin smiled lightly before pulling away. He still had his eyes closed while Yoongi looked at him with nothing, but fondness.
“S-So ghost Min Yoongi?” Jimin asked softly.
“That’s me.” Yoongi brushed Jimin’s bangs off his forehead.
“This is really weird,” Jimin muttered before pressing his face into Yoongi’s neck. “But I’m gonna go along with it. Just because I don't want you to leave me again.” The tears pricked at Jimin’s eyes.
“I know.” Yoongi pressed a kiss to Jimin’s forehead. “Suppose you’re never gonna let go now, hm?”
“Never.”
