Izuku sat in the kitchen, bashful as his mom celebrated his Yuuei acceptance.

"Izuku" she exclaimed, giving him another big hug. "I'm so, SO, so proud of you! This is a big deal!

He grinned. "I'm really excited!"

"I can't believe you'll be at such a prestigious school!" Inko said. "I'm sure you'll do wonderful, of course!"

"I'll work hard, I promise!"

Inko ruffled his hair. "I'm sure you will! I'll miss you, once you move into the dorms, so you'll have to visit often. I'm not used to you being away from home, so I'll worry!"

He laughed. "You don't have to worry, mom. I'm sure I'll make some friends, and it's not like I won't know anyone. Kacchan got in, too."

"I can't believe he's even in your same high school," she huffed.

"It's fine," he placated, "It's not really that bad anymore. We aren't exactly friends or anything, but we at least get along now."

It was true that things had cooled off. Even though things had been really rough in elementary school, Kacchan had come to some kind of realization in the last few years, and stopped treating him so badly. He didn't bother to talk to him at all anymore, or anyone else for that matter, but at least Izuku could get through school without being tormented now.

"Well, I'm glad you'll have a familiar face nearby," she conceded. "Even if it is Katsuki."

Izuku laughed at her tone, and excused himself to finish his homework. He had to keep up, after all, if he was gonna go to Yuuei!

Tenya could feel an enormous blush working its way across his features as he walked down the dorm hallways, screenshotting the chat in a moment of weakness. He could feel butterflies as he stared at the messages, strange but oddly pleasant. He was so flustered that he didn't notice another boy turn the corner with a huge suitcase dragging behind him. They collided hard, and the boy sprawled backwards, luggage tossed to the side. Tenya panicked.
"I am terribly sorry!" he proclaimed, offering a hand. "I should have been paying more attention!"
The boy sat up, taking his hand to stand. "My fault, really! I was texting and walking at the same time, so I wasn't paying attention either!"
Tenya shook his head at that. "You're alright? Do you need the nurse's office?"
"No, no," he reassured. "I'm pretty clumsy, so I fall over a lot! But I'm fine!" The stranger grinned at him. "Are you a first year too?"
Tenya found himself smiling back, as if the stranger's smile was infectious. "Yes! I'm joining Class 1-A!"
"Awesome," he replied, "me too!" He held out a hand. "I'm Midoriya Izuku!"
Tenya shook the proffered hand. "Iida Tenya," he introduced.
"Nice to meet you, Iida!" Midoriya chimed.
If Tenya hadn't already known how absolutely, unstoppably gay he was, this would have been his moment. Midoriya's smile may just be the cutest thing he had ever seen, and he was not prepared to deal with it at this moment, so he shook it off, letting go of Midoriya's hand and stepping back. "The pleasure is mine," he got out, hopefully sounding fairly normal. "Well, I'm sure you'd like to get to your room and settle in."
"Oh!" His eyes widened. "Right!" He picked up his bag, brushing it off a little. "See you around, Iida!"
"Of course," he answered, watching Midoriya get into the elevator and wave as the doors shut. He took a moment to recompose himself, and returned to the chat.

Izuku hung up the last of his posters, right above his bed. This one had All Might in his signature post, muscled arms held high in victory. It was definitely the favourite out of all the posters! He had a few action figures in the same pose, displayed proudly on a shelf above his desk. There were other heroes sprinkled in, of course, but what could be better than a hero with super strength!

His room was basically just his old room at home, copy-pasted into the dorm room. The dorm was almost the same size, but the real difference was the balcony featured in each dorm. It took a lot of his poster space, but having a balcony was worth it! Izuku loved the morning light! He was always up early, and his room luckily faced the sunrise! Now, when he woke up, he could sit outside in his pajamas and watch the sun rise peacefully.

Collapsing back on his bed, Izuku scrolled through the messages ingeniumfan and erasermic had sent while he was offline, cheeks colouring a little. "Freckles, huh," he murmured to himself. His own face was absolutely covered in freckles. It didn't bother him, exactly, but he hadn't ever thought of them as a particularly attractive quality. Ingeniumfan, though, seemed quite taken with them, so he had to wonder if it was a popular feature. And a shorter boy, just like him...

He covered his face with both hands, banishing whatever thoughts were trying to come to mind. Izuku wasn't the one that had been called cute, anyways. Just because he shared two indistinct features with whoever this so-called freckles boy was didn't mean ingeniumfan would think he was cute, too. They had never met in person, after all.

Izuku left his phone on the charger, and went out to his balcony to watch the sky and waste a little time. It was only mid afternoon, and he didn't have to be anywhere until the cafeteria opened for supper. Other people would still be busy moving in, so it would be better to stay out of the way for the time being, anyways. Meeting classmates could come later.

A sigh echoed from the balcony next door, and Izuku jumped a little, eyes turning to the right and landing on his neighbour. At first glance, he seemed to have bright red hair, but it seemed to be dyed right down the middle, leaving the other side a stark white. The boy was staring down at his phone, and hadn't noticed Izuku yet. He seemed to be typing and retyping a message, over and over. He didn't want to spook his new neighbour, and tried to return quietly to his room, but he was way too clumsy for that plan to work. His foot caught under the chair as he stood, and he toppled facedown, catching himself painfully on his elbows.

As he stood, he looked back over to see the boy looking right him, expression definitely confused. Izuku decided to just go for it, pretending he hadn't just fallen over, and went about introducing himself. "Uh, hi!" he started, and mentally kicked himself at the lame greeting.

The boy didn't seem to mind. He raised a hand, and waved slightly. "Hello," he replied, slight confusion colouring his tone.

Izuku stood close to the edge between them. There was only a gap of about three feet between each balcony, so it wasn't hard to talk between rooms. "I'm Midoriya Izuku!"

He stared back for a second, not responding right away, and Izuku almost thought he hadn't heard him. Izuku was about to repeat himself, but finally, he answered. "Todoroki Shouto," he introduced himself.

Izuku smiled. "Nice to meet you!" Todoroki nodded his head in response, looking right into his eyes with a strange intensity. Izuku refused to be offput by the long stare, and pushed forward. "Guess we'll be neighbours for this year!"

Todoroki nodded again, looking a little awkward, so Izuku decided to give him some space. "I'll see you around, then!" he said, and Todoroki raised a hand as he went back inside.

Izuku faceplanted on his bed after shutting the balcony door and groaned. What an interesting first impression he must be making on his classmates, running literally right into one, and cornering another on his balcony. He really needed to work on his people skills, and maybe on his coordination. At this rate, he was going to take a nosedive down the stairs and break some bones by the end of the week!

He propped his head up on an elbow and reached for his phone. There were a few unread messages, so he logged in to see what they were talking about now.

The cafeteria was filling up quickly when Izuku arrived for supper, going through the excessively long lineup. He stood with his tray, looking over the tables for a place to sit, a familiar face. He had only met a few, so it didn't come as a huge surprise when he didn't see anyone. He picked a table with only a few other people, and started his dinner.

Another tray slammed down next to him, and he looked up. Next to him was a girl, with brown hair, smiling widely at him.

"Hi!" she greeted. "Can I sit here?"

Izuku, flustered, nodded quickly. "Sure." He paused, psyching himself up to talk to her. "I'm Midoriya Izuku!"

"Uraraka Ochako!" she responded, offering her hand to shake. She turned to her own meal. In between bites, she asked, "You're a first year too, right? What class are you in?"

"I'm in Class A," he answered. "You?"

Uraraka nodded. "Me too! Thank goodness, I thought I wouldn't know anyone in class tomorrow."

"Yeah," Izuku agreed.

"I mean, it's a tough school, and I've got to keep my grades up to stay! So I'm ready to work hard, but I want to have fun with my friends in high school, too!" she told him.

"Yeah, same here," he said. "It's great to meet you!"

Uraraka smiled wide. "You too, Midoriya!"

They continued talking as they ate. Uraraka was at Yuuei for their economics program, for her parents' business. Apparently Yuuei had one of the best programs in Japan. Izuku didn't know much about economics, but the way Uraraka talked about it made it seem much more interesting than he had thought it was. She had a lot of charisma!

They walked back to the dorms together, and Uraraka waved good night as she went to the elevator for the girls' side.

"See you in class, Midoriya!" she called out, and joined a few other girls in the elevator.

He waved back, and headed to the other elevator. He leaned against the wall across from the elevator, hands stuck in his pockets, as he waited. Izuku heard footsteps, and turned to see Todoroki arrive.

"Hi, Todoroki!" Izuku said.

Todoroki kept his blank expression. "Hi," he responded.

They got into the elevator together, and Izuku pushed the third floor button. They stood in stilted silence as they ascended, Izuku glancing over at him a few times before pulling out his phone and logging into the group chat.

allmightjr: i dont think my neighbour likes me very much
allmightjr: he's so awkward around me!

The doors opened, and Izuku stuck his phone in his pocket, only to fumble and watch as it fell to the ground, inevitably to hit the carpet and shatter. At the last second, Todoroki's hand shot out and grabbed it. He handed it back to Izuku, expression still unchanged.

"Nice phone case," he said, and Izuku's brain short-circuited at the slight proximity, looking straight into Todoroki's eyes for the first time. He hadn't realized how absolutely piercing the blue of his right eye was, especially when compared to the soft brown of his other eye. They were quite striking, and he couldn't help himself, getting a little lost in them as the boy stood there.

Then the moment ended, and Todoroki walked away, leaving Izuku gaping slightly and trying to pull himself together. He rushed after him. "Uh... Thank you, Todoroki!" he called after, and Todoroki paused at his door.

"No problem, Midoriya." There was a pause, as Izuku walked past Todoroki to his own room. "Good night."

"Good night!" Izuku responded, as Todoroki's door shut.

The first day of classes started pretty smoothly. Izuku ran into Uraraka on the way to breakfast. She introduced him to Tsuyu Asui, who insisted he call her Tsuyu and invited him to sit with them at breakfast. Izuku was relieved at the invitation, and they walked the short distance to the bustling cafeteria, chatting about nothing in particular. They ended up at a table with a few other first-years from their class, Mina, Kaminari and Kirishima. Somehow, Izuku found himself with plenty of new friends before he even entered the classroom.

There was a seat plan at the front of class, and he noted that he was seated right behind Katsuki. Not the luckiest thing, but it didn't seem to matter. Katsuki seemed intent on ignoring his existence, feet planted on the desk and scowl fixed firmly on his face. It kept anyone from approaching, for the most part. He got a few strange looks, none of which he responded to. It wasn't until Iida arrived that anyone said a word to him.

"It's very disrespectful to put your feet on your desk, you know!" he reprimanded sternly.

Katsuki glared at Iida, who barely blinked. "Piss off, four-eyes," he hissed.

Iida didn't seem to mind the nickname. "It's against class rules!" he insisted. "A teacher would yell at you!"

Katsuki huffed. "Why's it your business?"

"C'mon, Kacchan," Izuku butted in nervously. "He's right, you know."

"Don't bother me, nerd," he said.

Izuku turned his attention to Iida. "Don't worry about him, Iida. He's not gonna listen."

Iida sighed, walking towards Izuku. "I just want to make sure the rules are followed! The past graduates who used these desks deserve our respect."

"I agree," Izuku said, "but he's not going to listen to you."

"I suppose you're right," Iida conceded, and the warning bell rang. "I'd better get to my seat."

"I'll talk to you later!" Izuku said, watching him cross to the other corner of the room.

Todoroki, his neighbour, was only a few seats behind him. Their eyes met as he glanced back, and he smiled, giving a small wave. Todoroki didn't smile or wave back. He just nodded and looked down at his book until their teacher arrived. Izuku tried to catch him at lunch, but he was nowhere to be found in the cafeteria. He ended up sitting with Uraraka again, this time joined by Iida, who raved about their teachers and their many qualifications. It was very endearing, but a bit too overwhelming after a few minutes. Izuku decided to check the group chat quick, before lunch break ended.

Izuku put his face right on the table, tossing his phone aside. Iida seemed perplexed at his red blush, but Izuku just squeaked out a very fake-sounding excuse that did not go unnoticed.

Uraraka smirked. "Do you have some secret girlfriend that you're texting?" she asked, getting the attention of a few other classmates. "Or boyfriend?" she added, at the fierce shaking of his head., causing him to completely hide his face in his hands. "Haha! I knew it!"

"I don't have a boyfriend!" he denied. "Just a friend of mine, that's all. He likes to embarrass me!"

"Not your boyfriend yet, anyways," Uraraka teased.

"Oooh!" Mina cooed, echoed by Kaminari. "What's his name?"

Izuku found himself unable to say a word, too embarrassed. After a moment of teasing, Iida quieted them down. "You're being too loud!" he said. "There's no reason to hound Midoriya, secret boyfriend or now."

After that, they let him be, splitting off into new conversations. Izuku got up to put his tray away. "Thanks, Iida," he said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You really saved me there. You're a cool guy"

Iida turned a little pink. "No problem," he said, pushing up his glassed. "I wouldn't like being teased about my crushes, either." He turned away after that, to finish his lunch, and Izuku headed off, mind still swirling.
