Every month Magnus and Alec put both of their names into a hat to see who will go down to pay the creepy landlord. When Alec gets pulled for the third month he pleads with Magnus to take his job and Magnus gives him a proposition:
He will take 1 year of landlord duty if Alec goes on a date with him.
