Chapter Text

“Listen up carefully, because I won’t repeat it.” Aizawa Stood in front of class 3-A. They had been so far in their hero studies by now, it was time for the most important event in their entire high school careers. “In a few weeks UA is going to hold a sponsorship dinner. Hero companies from all over the world attend this every year to find the best pro heroes from our academy. All third years are required to attend. If you’re smart about it, you’ll start making some connections to the right company.”

The class went into a whisper uproar. Talking among themselves about who would be there and how to impress them using only words. It was like the opposite of the sports festival. Aizawa quieted them again. “There are some students who do a good enough job to talk companies into getting them an paid sidekick internship. Or you can talk a company around into getting you a scholarship so you can do heroics in college. Don’t let this pass any of you by.”

Since then the class has been in a shuffle. Each student trying to imagine the guest list. Some of them like Asui and and Hagakure we're on the party planning committee and provided some clues. It was to be held in one of the gyms that was so large it was almost intimidating. They soon found out that it would be more like a formal than a sit-and-eat-dinner. There was to be dancing and some food. In the words of Mina, it was like a ball.

Thanks to Monoma, He had implanted the idea of taking a date with them to the dinner. It looked better to have a friend there to back them up in a talk with a pro. Not to mention being seen having good chemistry with fellow classmates and others was definitely a boost. Everyone would want to support a hero who was charismatic as they were strong. It was a great idea considering who it came from. A great idea that spread school wide within a mere day. This was no exception for class 3-A.

--

Bakugou Katsuki didn’t give a single fuck about any of the damn extras in his class. Though he was secretly grateful for his immediate friend group, not to many other people mattered to him. He was so damn excited for this sponsorship dinner every day felt a month long. This was his chance to talk himself into an internship and into college. This was his chance to start his future and become the number one hero.

He sat in the common room across from Kirishima and Sero. The trio talking about how excited they were to get their shot at being a hero officially. Katsuki was interested in the conversation too until the begun talking about the idea of bringing a date. As usual he started to tune them out when they started talking about girls. Romance was so lame.

“What about you Bakugou?”

“What?” he growled. “If you’re asking who I’m taking to the fucking dinner the answer is no one other than my damn self.”

“Aw lame..” Kirishima hung his head. “I bet I’d look super good next to Ashido, right? She’s got the speed, I’ve got the strength, It’s perfect!”

“You two did make a wicked team during collaboration combat class last year.” Sero gave his redhead friend a thumbs up. “Are you sure you don’t want to bring someone? You’d look super good!”

“I’m fuckin sure.”

“I bet it’s because he can’t get a date.” Kaminari walked up shrugging. “I mean, have you ever seen him even try to interact with a girl calmly? I don’t know if he can guys.”

“I COULD GET A DATE IF I WANTED, DUMBASS!” Bakugou stood up flaming mad. Of course, the boys we're laughing upon seeing that he cared.

Kaminari grinned. Ever since Yaoyorozu told him about reverse psychology it’s been a great thing to use against Bakugou at times. Permitting he didn’t get his butt kicked first. “You haven’t even tried to get a girlfriend this whole time we’ve been in school. So It’s pretty safe to assume you can’t.”

“You’ve got a point.” Kirishima nodded “Sorry man! But Kaminari might have a point.”

“Agreed.” Sero nodded “Even if you are wicked strong this might be too much for you.”

“You three are some goddamn idiots!” Bakugou shouted back. He could do fucking anything he felt like. He didn’t want a date because he was awesome enough on his own. But If having some chick by his side would shut these losers up then fine. “I’ll fuckin' prove it. I’ll have a date by the end of this week and you’ll choke on your words!”

Sero raised an eyebrow “Wanna bet on it?”

“Like I need an incentive to kick your dumbasses, but what do you want?”

Sero smiled even wider “You have to ask someone to the sponsorship dinner as a date while one of us record it!”

“And If I don’t?”

Kirishima nodded happily “You have to do all our chores just like when you were on house arrest.”

“And what do i get when I win?”

Kaminari thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers “Then we do yours. And we won’t make you tutor us for exams.”

“What else do I win?” Bakugou tapped his foot impatiently.

“Ugh..”Kirishima shook his head “We won’t make you cook for us and we can have a three vs one sparring match.”

Bakugou finally grinned. Not having to answer to their little requests AND spar against them would be awesome. It would open a chance to kick their asses when they deserved it for doubting him. “You’re on.”

Him and the boys shook on it. Although all of them complained about the heat of his nitroglycerin.
---

Bakugou paced around his room thinking about who the hell he was supposed to ask and how. He wasn’t going to waste his time with any extras that weren’t already in his class, which narrowed his options down to the five girls. Well, four since Kirishima was going to ask Mina. He wasn’t going to take Hagakure since he couldn’t even fucking see her. Jirou was pretty cool from time to time, but too shy to be around for hours. Yaoyorozu was smart but they had no existing chemistry. Asui was worth her salt as a hero for sure, but they wouldn’t look good together at all. That left Uraraka. This was the girl that had the nerve to beat him and win the last stupid sports festival. She was definitely worth it as a hero as well as being see with her would look awesome.

A flashback appeared in his mind. Last winter when they all had moved back into the dorms and he found Uraraka out in the cold and snow. He spent that night consoling his rival who missed her parents. They spent that night watching annoying Christmas movies even though it had passed. They spent the night “cuddling” so she called it. A very familiar fluttering appeared in his stomach when thinking back on it. It was so damn embarrassing to be soft in front of anyone. Although it worked, and she smiled at him like he was the sun. If Bakugou was honest with himself he knew she was at least kind of cute. Cute enough to make him feel all strange inside. It wasn’t even the only time they had moments like that.

Step one complete. He was going to ask Uraraka to the Sponsorship dinner. He wasn’t sure why that phrase made him feel incredibly uneasy. Perhaps it was the fact that Katsuki realized he had no idea how to ask a girl out for real. He had asked her out once before, and was turned down. Although considering he asked immediately after losing the sports festival while still under the high of battle, it was probably for the best. Uraraka did angrily growl at him to ask her properly if he was serious. He wasn't really sure what "properly" meant. Asking any of the girls in class would spread a rumor faster than Iida could run. Asking any of his friends would get him a thousand years of being teased. The idea of asking Deku popped up for a moment. However, it was shot down by the fact that he knew this nerd couldn’t handle shit when a girl was even a foot near him. There was one person who he could ask without feeling immediate regret.

Picking up the phone, Bakugu sighed. He really, really didn’t want to do this. However, as a future number one hero he couldn’t afford to start losing at this level. It was just a girl. A girl who could kick his ass, so he figured he better not fuck this up. Although he was so sure he would never hear the end of it. After dialing the number, the boy hoped and prayed he wouldn’t hear an answer.

“Hello? Katsuki?”

“Hey, Mom. I gotta ask you something…”

Notes:

And It's started! I just got re-inspired to do this by some cute pictures. Although I wonder what Bakugou's mom has to say when he son starts asking about girls?
