Part I — Izuku
Midoriya Izuku knew the dangers of social media. He had been down that rabbit hole, seeing the ups and down from social media. He had been mentally scarred by some things he had seen. So, Izuku was cautious with using social media. He had two Twitter accounts, one professional one (where he posted occasionally, mostly related to his acting work), and one personal one. Only his close friends knew about the personal account, which had a ridiculous nickname, a picture of his best friend Ochako’s cat, and random, contextless, tweets only his friends understood. He had a few followers, he followed a few people, and he had a bunch of random tweets. He had his social media life under control.
This mindset should have made alarm bells ring in the back of his mind. His brain should’ve have pressed the ‘be careful’ button. But he hadn’t done that, and it would end up biting him in the arse.

Shouto liked this coffee shop. It was pretty small, virtually unknown and they made good coffee. He had been visiting it regularly since college, and even now with a free-lance job as an artist (his father had been furious) he spends a lot of time there. Coming here was familiar, almost like a habit.
For whatever reason, Shouto’s newest crush also frequented this shop. At least judging from how the familiar the shop-owners were with the guy. He wondered how they had never met, but Tenya had mentioned something along the lines of ‘a change in schedule’. He was still pissed at Tenya for not telling him who this guy was.
As he was postponing his work, his phone blew up. He was surprised to see Jiro texting him, as they weren’t exactly friends. She was Momo’s fiancé and friend. Shouto was just Momo’s friend. They could’ve been fiancées, but neither had been interested.
Kyoka: sho, i found your long-lost twin, check your twitter
Kyoka: believe me, it’s worth it
Kyoka: the guy is a godsend
Wary, but curious (and postponing his work), Shouto opened Twitter. ‘#BeautifulBoy’ was trending. Assuming that this was what Jiro meant, he followed the link. Many people were talking about the trending subject, but none of them seemed to be the creator. Then he found a tweet that looked promising. It referred to another Twitter user, and it sounded like the user knew the other on a personal level.

The tweet was a couple of hours old. Following the account name, Shouto realised he had found the origin for the hashtag. This person, Deku, had been talking about the day-to-day struggles of being bisexual and coming across this beautiful guy so many time that it started to look stalkerish. It was cute, and Shouto understood why Jiro had sent it to him. This Deku reminded him of himself and meeting the cute, freckled guy at the oddest place. He almost felt stalkerish himself.
However, the deeper he got into the rabbit hole, the more he started to feel a sense of familiarity that was beyond sympathy and ‘I get the feeling’. Some of the dates started to line up, and the possible locations did too. His final suspicious was confirmed when he saw a few of Tenya’s tweets—the ones from his personal account—being retweeted by this guy. Could this guy be…
As if summoned, he might be, the freckled guy whose name might be Deku walked into the coffee shop. He looked worn, his curly hair even bigger and fluffier than usual, his clothes looked rumpled.
“Early morning?” the lady manning the counter asked, already punching in the guy’s order.
The guy yawned, “you could say that.”
He paid for his coffee and sat down at his usual table, looking rather dejected.
Checking his phone, Shouto’s heart jumped when he saw the guy Deku posting two new tweets.

Hey, I know that my ridiculous love story is trending, but this account won’t change. This is my personal account in which I share my silly day-to-day life. Please don’t harass my friends or me. I didn’t ask for this attention, and while I appreciate it, I will just continue with my life.
Shouto was surprised by the Tweet, but it all made sense. This was the person’s personal account. It’s the place where he keeps his friends up-to-date on whatever he does in his social life. And surprisingly, the people were pretty supportive in the comments.
The second tweet seemed to be more like the previous tweets the guy posted. He was sure his heart made a leap when he saw the tweet.

Shouto looked up from his phone, staring at the guy that might be Deku. Would he risk it? The dancing around each other wasn’t working, and while he would miss it if this guy would start to avoid him, he also knew that this circling-around-each-other could go on forever.
Picking up his phone and coffee-cup, Shouto strode over to the table where the maybe-Deku was sitting. Without asking—too nervous for that—he placed down the coffee cup and sat on the chair opposite of the stranger.
“I think you’re cute.”
The guy blinked, once, twice, before he turned red in the face.
“You’re pretty,” he blurted. “Pretty cute, I mean. You’re also pretty.”
Shouto wanted to say something smooth, like ‘you said that before’, but all that came out of his mouth was: “Why does your shirt say ‘this is a sweater’.”
The guy groaned, “I regret ever buying it.”
Before, he had been in ‘I’m nervous but I can do this’ mode, now he was ready to enter ‘full panic’ mode. Why did he say that? There was nothing wrong with the shirt. Yes, the text was a bit silly but what did Shouto know about fashion? Momo chose most of his clothes because Shouto was apparently a ‘disaster’.
Trying to save to conversation, as far that was possible, Shouto jumped to the subject that would either make or break it. Risking it all. He wanted to know if this guy was the same one whose Twitter he just had seen, who might have been talking about Shouto (he never had been specific, which Shouto was grateful for. Nobody would find out this way).
“Do you like All Might?”
The guy’s face lit up. It was him, wasn’t it? This was Deku.
Before most-likely-Deku- could talk, Shouto unlocked his phone and shoved it underneath his nose.
“Is that you,” he asked, pointing at the twitter name. “And is that me?”
Now-definitely-Deku stared at Shouto’s phone with wide eyes, lips parted in surprise.
“I can explain!” Deku waved his hands widely, his face now scarlet. “I never wanted it to become viral, I just… I like to throw things on the internet, to share with my friends. I kept the details vague so that nobody would stalk me, or you, in real life. It’s probably creepy, right? Having a guy tweeting about you while you’re in a relationship.”
Shouto pulled his phone back, fingers nervously drumming against the glass screen. Clearly, they had different assumptions on what was the issue.
“I’m not in a relationship, haven’t been for over two years.”
“But the woman, the one with the black hair, the ponytail?”
“That’s Momo,” Shouto guessed. “She’s my best friend, but we aren’t dating. Our interests differ.”
Deku looked curious but seemed either too nervous or too polite to question Shouto. So he decided to answer anyway if only to gouge out Deku’s interest, “she likes girls, I like guys. That makes it hard to be romantically involved.”
“Oh.”
Shouto nodded, “are you actually talking about me in your Tweets.”
“Of course!” Deku waved wildly with his arms, almost knocking over his coffee. “I mean, who else?”
Shouto kept his mouth shut, mentally withdrawing himself from the subject. He never cared much about how he looked, but he never understood why people were attracted to him. His hair was long, duo-coloured (though the white part was his own fault—he never should have accepted Jiro’s dare), his eyes were mismatching, and there was this huge scar around his left eye. Like, you couldn’t miss it, and this guy called him ‘beautiful’ on multiple occasions.
“I’ve once read on the internet that we’re rarely our own type. So what I like and who you like differ. I,” Deku took a shaking breath. He was fidgeting like crazy, fingers clenching and unclenching rapidly. “I think that you’re really pretty.”
The words felt sincere. Shouto had expected to hear a ‘sikes’, or someone to jump from behind a wall and tell him he was being pranked. But this guy was also Tenya’s friend. Tenya was a solid friend, and he would never let Shouto be hurt like that. So this must be the real deal.
“What’s your name?” Deku asked. “I mean, Tenya--Iida Tenya, a mutual friend of ours—let it slip that your first name was Shouto. But that’s it. I know nothing about you.”
Shouto swallowed, wondering what Deku’s reaction would be. Would he recognise the surname? Would Deku ask for an autograph from his father?
“Todoroki Shouto.”
“Todoroki? As in the same surname as Endeavor?”
“Endeavor is my father.”
Deku looked gobsmacked, “how? The two are barely alike? Endeavor is really rude, you know? I’ve worked with him before, and it was never fun.”
It was as if a weight had lifted off his shoulder. Not a fan boy.
“So you’re an actor?”
“Upcoming actor,” Deku corrected. “I’ve played as stunt-double for years, but I finally got the opportunity to be in a movie! What do you do, for a living?”
“Freelance artist and I occasionally dabble into photography.”
Deku nodded. He looked a lot more at ease now, smiling, grinning and sipping his coffee. The awkwardness had faded, offering for an easier, lighter conversation.
“What’s your name anyway?”
Deku squeaked, “I never told you. I can’t believe I never told you. I’m a terrible human being.”
Five minutes later, Shouto still had no answer. Deku had been rambling about how this had happened before, and that his date didn’t dare to ask and it was really awkward, and the guy never called back.
“I don’t think your name has that many words in it.”
“Oh, right. I’m Midoriya Izuku, nice to meet you, properly.”
