This here is Kokoro. It's a novel. It had all the potential in the world to be the last thing to be written by me.
But I am actually in fairly high spirits, though I... barely even appear in public today, haha. Anyway, I finished it in the morning, the formatting is all done as well. Good old .docx.
It isn't that long. It's about the same size as Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human, if any of you here have ever read it. So yeah.
While probably far from excellence, this creation of mine is... already extremely important to me. It is, quite literally, like literally, my heart. Soooo... Read it when you can. I would be very curious to hear what you'd have to say afterwards.
The work makes liberal use of three languages at once: Russian, English and Ukrainian. This is true for the trilogy it is part of as a whole as well. Tread lightly.
I will be publishing one chapter a day. Hope it doesn't get nipped in the bud due to the language predicament.Series

On the occasions that his direct presence was required, he typically was tasked with handling abnormalities that required a level head, or a cold heart.
Callous as it made him, it was also the reason why he was so efficient. It was what got him his current position, the relative safety of a Captain deemed skilful enough to be worth keeping somewhere safe, overseeing the rest of his department. He kept his emotions in check, even when chaos overtook the facility, and he was capable enough to push through the workday if the rest of the Information Department died.
He wasn’t naive enough to think that wasn’t part of the reason why he’d been able to stay alive so long.

I intend to fill in the implied time jump, from literally where the show left off, to the epilogue where Miri is just about to go to her first day of high school, using the little milestone pictures that we see during the end credit as info.
In my attempt to keep the anime's direct inspiration in writing this, some of the dialogue is written in Rōmaji (basically: Japanese written using the Latin alphabet, instead of kanji and kana) when the phrases are recognizable; once you sound them out, anyway.
I watch anime with subtitles, so this was to mimic how I sometimes don't have to read the captions anymore to understand what I'm hearing. I try not to do it too much, but it does bring me joy to do, so I might be a little trigger happy with the Rōmaji ( ᵕ • ֊ •)
The pacing is a bit like an episode of the anime, too. Would benefit from watching the actual show sometime recently before reading.
