They’re okay now. It’s over.
Seokjin breathed a sigh of relief. He figured out what he had to do. He took a deep breath as he stood up. Before he walked away, he quickly patted Jungkook’s head and ruffled Hoseok’s hair. He trusted them to look after one another.
He isn’t needed anymore.
If he stayed, the cycle would simply repeat.
He could feel Taehyung’s eyes on him as we walked further away and couldn’t help but smile a little to himself as he was reminded of a different time, when Taehyung realised what he was about to do.
“You’re smarter than you think, you know that?” Seokjin mumbled as he rested his hand on Taehyung’s head before he patted it and walked away.
“Hyung, don’t!” Taehyung screamed but the glass had already broke and Seokjin was filled with determination.
Seokjin mumbled out a ‘sorry’ to Taehyung as he began to climb the structure they were sat next to. He felt a breeze and the sun on his face. It felt right.
If it’s for them, he could do anything.
He stood on the platform, his video camera in hand. They all looked up and waved, except for Taehyung who only looked confused, as though the scenario seemed familiar. Seokjin recalled the first time they were all sat down as Taehyung suddenly jumped. He remembered his heart dropping as the glass broke yet again.
Seokjin looked down at them and smiled before he panned the camera to film the view.
And then he dropped the camera.
Suddenly, no one was waving.
A chorus of “Hyung?!” was thrown around but Seokjin didn’t hear it as he took another step towards the edge. Taehyung must’ve realised what was about to happen because he bolted for the structure.
Seokjin looked up and smiled. He could hear them yell out his name. He could hear Taehyung and Jungkook climbing up below him, calling out.
And then he jumped.
The last thing he heard was a gut-wrenching scream of “No!” from Yoongi and then darkness.
All of them watched in horror as Seokjin’s body collided with the water.
Glass shattered.
The six found themselves surrounded by darkness. They called out for Seokjin again but were interrupted when pieces of glass were suddenly suspended in the air. Only they weren’t just glass, each piece contained images of Seokjin, of every time he saved them.
They all stood frozen before they looked around and witnessed everything: every death, every accident and how every time Seokjin appeared to save them, every failure and success.
Hoseok noticed something in the corner of his eye and yelled out.
“Hyung!”
Everyone turned their heads in the direction Hoseok faced.
Seokjin.
The eldest was stood in front of what resembled a black hole, his eyes were closed, and a hand was placed over his chest.
Mixes of “Jin hyung!” and “Seokjin hyung!” were thrown in the air. But as they drew closer, they found they couldn’t reach him. It was like a barrier stopped them.
“Hyung, what are you doing?” Namjoon asked desperately. Instead of an answer, Seokjin moved his hand from his chest to reveal darkness. They all watched in distress as he took a step closer to the so-called black hole.
“He did so much for us,” Jimin said shakily, “Why?”
They continued to try to catch his attention, but he only grew closer to the black hole.
“Look!” Taehyung shouted as he pointed at something that appeared in Seokjin’s hand. A flower. He was clutching it tightly.
Suddenly, a memory came to their minds, from a different time.
“Six petals,” Seokjin said and they all looked at him. “So precious,” he whispered, “I promise I’m going to keep you all safe.” They all teased him after that for being so sentimental.
Seokjin moved again, on the edge of the hole.
“Stop!” Yoongi yelled and suddenly the six found themselves waking up in a room.
“Hyung?” Jungkook exclaimed as he sat up. They all followed suit and looked around.
“What is this?” Jimin asked as they stood up and browsed around. A single bed, a couple dressers, a cabinet (though it was chained close) and a few artefacts here and there.
“I think this is Jin hyung’s room,” Namjoon said. The objects seemed so familiar.
Yoongi found a lighter on one of the dressers and picked it up. Memories flashed across his mind. Everyone began to remember everything.
A glass smashed.
They all turned their heads in the direction of the sound to find a vase in the corner of the room, smashed.
“Those are the flowers hyung was holding,” Jungkook said.
Suddenly, there was a loud breath.
They all whipped their heads to find Seokjin on the bed. He was clutching his head in pain. They stood frozen until he spoke.
“Have to save them,” Seokjin muttered.
“Hyung, Wake up!” Jimin said as he moved towards him. Seokjin continued to toss and turn.
The scene changed.
It was like they all blinked and suddenly they were back at the pier, as though nothing happened. They all turned to look for Seokjin and found him walking towards the structure.
“Hyung, no!” was shouted and Seokjin turned around in surprise when he found himself engulfed in a six-person hug.
“Don’t you dare,” Namjoon said angrily, “Don’t you dare leave us.”
Seokjin widened his eyes in distress.
“How-“
He was interrupted by Yoongi grabbing his collar and pulling him closer.
“You punk,” Yoongi started, “You can’t just save us and leave.”
Seokjin stared into Yoongi’s eyes in shock. He placed a hand over the younger’s and the other loosened his grip.
“Yoongi,” he said softly and before he could continue, a pair of arms wrapped around him.
“You’re not going anywhere,” Yoongi whispered and Seokjin looked around to find the others near tears.
“You are worth so much more,” Jimin said, “That’s what you told me, remember?”
Seokjin did remember but only because it was a time when he failed to save Jimin.
“We know everything,” Taehyung said with a pout as he noticed the confused look on Seokjin’s face. “Hyung, you’ve done so much for us but what about you?”
Yoongi finally released him and Jungkook didn’t hesitate to take over.
“I love you guys too much,” was the explanation Seokjin gave.
“But you need to love you too,” Jungkook mumbled and that did it. Seokjin cried.
“Hyung,” Hoseok started with a smile, “We love you too much too, you know, that right?”
Before he could respond, Taehyung spoke.
“Let’s go to the beach,” he said simply, “Okay?”
Seokjin stared at him and looked around at them all.
“Okay.”
