Chapter Text
Moon giggles recalling how it was amidst apologies that Gladion first told her he liked her.
He was so awkward, so hesitant, and yet as he had both his hands firmly planted on her shoulders it was the most sure she had seen him about anything in awhile. Her heart clamored, her mind reeled. Silent hopes that she wasn’t imagining the words stumbling out of his mouth. Her own stunned silence prompting a flash of panic in his own eyes before she realized she needed to reply. Her own shy confession was whispered under bright cheeks and avoidant eyes until she felt his hand on her face, and saw a soft gaze looking back at her.
A nervous chuckle. A bashful embrace.
Moon feels a rush wash over her as she feels Gladion’s thumb trace small circles on the back of her hand. The flower petals blowing, the cutiefly buzzing, her current question on the tip of her tongue.
“Do you think we’ll be together forever?”
The soft whisper almost indecipherable as her voice gets carried away with the breeze. Her fingers warmly intertwined in his contrasting with the chill that ran down her spine. Her head coerced to lift from his shoulder when she feels him shifting his gaze from the meadow ahead of them to just her. Always just her.
“I would hope so.”
Simple. Succinct. Very Gladion.
But enough to make her heart race. The small smile on his lips a sign of how far they’ve come in the span of two years.
A saved region. An established title. An inherited company.
Her fingers squeeze his hand a little tighter in in silent reciprocation. A small way to hold onto the moment for as long as possible. They were still so young, their whole lives ahead of them. Their futures bright and full of the unknown.
But it would be okay, they had each other.
And the kiss Moon laid on his cheek to catch him off guard was a clear sign of that.
