Work Text:

He looks for the small masterpieces everywhere he goes. In the bathroom he searches the marbled floor, in his room he watches the small dots stuck to the ceiling, college the wooden desk item he sits at, outside he searches the people for someone he knows isn't there.

He sat on the floor of Kiri's house playing Uno. This was before. His happiness and light temper flooded the room and the game.

“So you boys find anyone yet?” Mina joked at them as she placed a yellow 1.

“WHAT?” he yelled at her flushed.

They all ignored him as the game continued. “I have my sights on someone,” Kaminari replied.

Sero’s body posture fell a little. “Ah Shinsou right,” Sero teased, still a sadness placed in him.

“SERO?!?!? YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO KEEP IT A SECRET,” Kaminari whined loudly as Sero laughed placing a plus two.

“I'M GONNA KILL YOU TAPE DISPENSER,” He angrily yelled taking two, then taking another until he found a yellow.

“You like anyone Bakubro?” Kirishima half joked.

“NO.”

They all laughed.

He missed that laughter now, he wished to have them just show up at his door and make fun of him again. He only ever saw Kaminari and Shinsou anymore.

“Kacchan?” Midoriya asked as they walked to their dorms. “Do you like Todoroki-kun?”

“WHAT NO STUPID DEKU,” he raged picking up his pace slamming his door to his dorm.

He even missed that dumbass. To his huge grin and stupid green hair. It was all in his head though he knew he wouldn't see him after the funeral.

They were all at the bar after their first battle as official heros. They all joked, and laughed so much happiness they didn't realize the tragedy heroism caused.

They drank then and rejoiced the victory. He probably drank to much, he remembered someone forcing everyone home.

He wished he could have that innocence back. They all could joke and be happy again. Just to go back and see their face smile would make him cry.

“Suki?” He called walking into his dorm.

“Fuck,” he whispered, bleeding in the bathroom. “Go away half-n-half.”

The other's lack of response boiled his anger more. He tried to ignore him by finding little unknown masterpieces in the cupboard door.

“Katsuki! What happened?” he panicked trying to find bandages in the near area.

“I'm sorry,” he repeated and repeated adding a “I broke the promise,” every so often.

He ignored him opening the cupboards finding nothing. “Why'd you take them out?” He panicked more leaving the bathroom searching for the something.

He grabbed a black tank top and rushed back. He watched the elegant masterpiece wrap his arm in the fabric. “I love you Shoto,” he murmured.

“Shut up, shut up stop acting like your gonna die stop it your fine,” he tied a knot in the dark fabric crying, showing to much emotion for he himself to handle. He struggled a little and picked up the blonde.

He stared and the masterpeice looking at every speck of him only find smaller masterpieces. “I'm so sorry Todo I really I am,” his fading consciousness wanted to continue but the large amount of meds he'd taken before made him fall unresponsive.

Now if he was still here he would be torn apart at him doing it again. Breaking the one rule they made. He missed him more and more. The thought of him gone tore him apart more. He knew it was his fault he knew if hadn't pushed him those few feet he'd still be here.

“NO NO I'M NOT DOING IT OLD HAG,” he yelled throwing a fit over broccoli.

“FINE,” she yelled back standing from the dining table. “YOU CAN SIT HERE UNTIL IT'S GONE.”

“I WILL.”

Later his dad came back and ate a few of the pieces, joking with him.

“Don't tell mommy, ok,” he booped his nose and left, then he only had one green little devil to eat.

He also wished they would appear on his couch and come hug him tell him all the reassuring things he need to hear. They never did they stayed in their coffins waiting for him to come say hello again. Sometimes he would think he heard his mom yelling at him for being an idiot, but she wasn't here and neither was his greatest role model.

“Young Bakugou,” All might greeted setting his cup of coffee down, he immediately engulfed the old man in a hug needing some sense of reality.

“I'm sorry,” he whispered into the old beaten chest.

He pulled back from him searching for little masterpieces in the old hero, he found plenty but not as many as he'd found in him. “Don't blame yourself my boy, and remember those who will help you.” His soft parting smile imprinted his face.

He knew that was the last time anyone had seen the old hero, and he wished more than anything to know he was ok. The smile was engraved into his brain always.

“Mom, Dad,” He took a deep breath “This is Todoroki, my boyfriend,” he prayed they liked him.

They shook his hand, he was full of respect and honorifics. Never in the other's entire life did he ever use them to anyone else, but on that night he never said anything to tell them different.

The Bakugou's loved the boy soon he was practically already family. He visited them more than his own family at one point.

He wondered if they are enjoying each other's company in the afterlife. Above all else he hoped they were all happy still.

“Bakubro likes Todoroki,” the idiots laughed at each other making fun of his crush.

“SHUT UP, Well you like that trashy Deku,” He pushed Kirishima after teasing him, making him fall into Sero's lap.

“You like anyone Sero,” Kiri laughed off him switching attention to the dark haired boy.

“Well yeah, two people actually but neither like me back so ya know,” He nervously laughed avoiding the eyes of everyone.

“OoOh who?” Mina pried.

“I'm not telling you freaks,” everyone laughed.

He remembered Sero's heart break when Kaminari and Shinsou got together, he also remembered that he was gonna confess to the two the day after he fell into the coma he's still stuck in. He remembered the teasing pink alien who gave him so much support to finally confess, well he gave it to all the gay love sick boys there.

“Kacchan,” Deku's cracked voice came through the phone.

“What's wrong?” his anger displacing to whoever made him sound like a kicked puppy.

“Well nothing, well actually it was my fault I yelled at him and he he got angry back and now now,” he cried a little more then sucked the air finding the confidence to continue “now he's gone and I don't where he went, and I think we're over.”

“What, no you can't be,” he tried to swallow his anger and give him reasonable advice. “Try to call him, Kirishima isn't one to hold a grudge or act rash.”

“I tried, I messaged him on everything, I even asked Shinsou if he went there,” his shaky voice was in clear pain.

“I'm coming over, ok I'll ask Sero and Mina if he's there do want Shoto to come too.” He asked shoving his shoes on getting ready to wake up the sleeping beauty.

“Yeah, yeah he can come to.”

He held the phone between his shoulder and face while putting his second shoe on, “I'll call you when we're there ok, tell me if anything happens.”

They said goodbye and stuff and he walked to the bed, spotting the creases forming a ocean like wave until the love of his life rolled on it.

“Sho, Sho wake up we are gonna go to Deku's wake up,” he said poking the other's face until he woke up.

“Gugh I'm jup.”

When they arrived in the Uber, he searched the city overview for the most beautiful light, as his hand was being held and rubbed by his thumb.

He checked with Sero and Mina they said they hadn't heard from him. He knew this meant Kirishima was out drinking his sadness away or being taken advantage off, he tries several times to contact him he ignored them.

He remembered the rest of the night. Now he wondered if they were still together, the funeral was two years ago, two years is the last time he'd seen most people.

“You look like shit,” Kaminari said after he opened the door.

“Well no shit, did you come here to tell me I am taking everything really badly or something else?”

“I wanted to say hi,” his smile was exotic still like nothing had changed, but everything had.

“I guess you can come in,” he moved out of the way for the electric blonde.

They sat on the couch reminiscing and joking, probably the most he smiled since well everything. “How's Sero?” the mood was fun and more serious now.

“They think he might wake up but I'm guessing they just said that to make me go home.”

“I don't want to ruin anything but he loves you and Shinsou so much, he was gonna tell you guys but then everything happened.”

“I knew, I read his stupid journal one time, and I felt the same way I just just cowarded away like always.”

“Come on you're not a coward, you've done a lot of brave shit, if you're a coward I'm what a Cow.”

“Hey no way your way braver than me,” Denki looked around “Well if you'd clean this mess.”

“What it's not that messy,” he hit the other playfully.

“You know everyone misses you,” The happiness was sucked from the room from the change of subject.

“They don't show it they cut off all communication.”

“Hey you don't try either.”

“I shouldn't have to, my mom and dad died my fucking friends is in a coma, and my fucking fiancè is dead because of me, and and All Might hasn't been seen since he talked to me it's been a year and I barely can make fucking spark anymore I shouldn't be forced into being the one to reach out.”

Kaminari was shocked by the reaction, he couldn't find a reply, the other blonde searched the room for something he hasn't seen yet. “Bakugou I'm sorry, maybe we can all get together like old times,” he said but they both knew all to well it wouldn't be like old times it wouldn't be anything like it.

Wishing that the blonde would find happiness he texted him goodbye and told him that he was thankful for him. He sat writing a note to all the people he loved and reasons why he loved them. At the end he wrote a final goodbye to everyone.

He knew he would end it this way but it was only a thought gnawing at him in the back of his mind. He opened the tylenol and anti-depressants and poured them into his hand. He walked out to the porch he had cleaned his apartment, weeks before and kept it spotless not wishing for someone to stay in the room for to long, he had made tea and it sat on the table ready for anyone to drink, he put all his pictures of everyone in the living room for easy taking he set his will along with them. As he stood on deck he was pelted by rain as he swallowed the handful of meds.

Hs sat on a chair for about half an hour before he stood and walked to the edge looking out the city, the city he used to love now it was full of pain and memories that brought him to tears. There were no more masterpieces he wanted to find in the city. He climbed over the fence, asked for forgiveness to whatever god that existed, and from Shoto. His body felt weightless, time felt like molasses as gravity did it's work.

The rain fell on the blonde, carrying his blood to the drains, as people called the police and reacted to the body laying lifeless.

The funeral was two days later everyone showed up. The building was pouring with people there was people outside while the ones closest to him were inside.

“And,” Midoriya smiled through some tears “He said most of all he just wants us to smile and be happy together again.”

Bakugou thought his death would tear them more apart as Todoroki's did but instead it brought them more together. It was almost like old times except without the yelling, or unnecessary flirting, or the innocence.

Sero did wake up, month's later. He saw all the welcoming faces, his first words awake were “Where's Bakugou and Todoroki,” everyone looked at each other until Midoriya spoke up taking the hardship.

“They passed away, Todo passed in the same battle that caused your coma, and Bakugou took his life a few months ago,” his hands were shaking as everyone's wounds of the two were ripped open.

“Ooh.”

The constant reminders the two were gone were painful but everyone found a happiness that reminded them they are gone and that Bakugou wouldn't want everyone sulking over him.
