Back To The Past (HIATUS/CANCELLED)

Summary:

Wilbur Tsoyah, a One For All user 79 years after Midoriya, lives in a fallen world. With a huge debt to pay, he goes into the shadows as a villain in order to get what he needs. When things go south, will he be able to get his life in order and pay the debt, or will he face the penalty of death?

Notes:

Hey! This idea honestly is probably really cliche, but I decided to try it out anyway. Credits to my friends (whose names I won't say, to protect their identities) for helping me come up with Wilbur's Quirk... (you two know who you are). I hope you enjoy. Any tips or ideas, feel free to let me know.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

He heard a scream; a loud scream, as running towards him was his twin brother telling him to get away. Away from what, he wondered. In confusion, he tilted his head. There was nothing to get away from. Was it paranoia? Perhaps he was becoming frightened of something in which wasn’t there. He shook his head and followed his worried brother as he ran by.

He asked what they happened to be running from, but his question was left unnoticed as the latter ran as fast as his legs would take him until finally, he stopped.

“We should be safe here,” his brother let out between gasps for air.

  “What were we running from?”

With an upward tilt of his head, he replied “The League.”

Eyes widened in shock, he let out a light gasp, “The League? They’re here? But… we don’t have their payment yet…”

The latter shook his head as he caught his breath, “So then we’ll hope that they don’t find us.”

Chapter 1

Wilbur Tsoyah pushed his shaggy black bangs off his snow-white face and slipped on the hood of his favourite black sweater. With his hands in his pockets, he leaned against the wall.

“Wil? How long do you think we’ll be here?” Jesse Tsoyah questioned quietly.

“Until the League gives up and goes back to Japan. We’ll stay here until then. You know what they’ll do to us, Jesse.”

“Yeah… I know. But they never give us enough time.”

  “I know…”

The brothers sighed, slumped against the wall, and slid to the floor in unison. They both hid their faces in their hands. They were in deep trouble. They owed the League of Villains a lot of money, and they already wasted all their chances of grace. If they were to be found with no money, they would be killed on the spot.

Jesse let out another long sigh as he faced his brother. Wilbur glanced at Jesse through his clammy hands. They both easily read the looks of uncertainty on each other’s faces. They knew that even if they tried to hide, they could never stay hidden for long. They would just have to hope for the best.

Wilbur lay in bed, wide awake. It was late. Really late. He knew he should be sleeping, but he couldn’t. He grabbed his phone and scrolled through Instagram, smiling at his mother’s posts.

  “Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”

“You’re back…” Wilbur glanced up from his phone to see a figure sitting cross-legged at the edge of his bed.

“I’m back,” the figure frowned, “and you’re still hiding.”

“Yeah, yeah. Dude, you always come at the most inconvenient times. Don’t you have better things to do than haunt me?”

“Mmm… not really. Your life is entertaining. You do something stupid, I watch and judge from the afterlife. I have this thing going on where I bet with the others on what you’ll do next.”

  “Wow. Rude.”

“Watch it. I gave you that Quirk, I can take it away.”

“What? One for All? I’d like to see you try.”

The figure fell silent for a moment, before moving next to Wilbur, looking over his shoulder.

  “Who’s that?”

Wilbur glared in annoyance at the ghost, then looked at the picture displayed on his phone screen.

“My moms, my brother, myself, and my little sister.”

  “‘Moms’?”

“Yeah. Lesbians. What, are you gonna judge my family now, too? You must be one of those condescending straight dudes. Have you know, the LGBT community struggles with their identities every day, and you straights aren’t making it better-” Wilbur was interrupted.

“No no! I get it,” the ghost smiled sheepishly, “I’m bisexual, so I don’t really mind you’re family being LGBT… honest.”

Wilbur looked at his phone again and continued to scroll through Instagram. The ghost sighed and stared up at the ceiling, mumbling to himself in long, confusing rants about some Quirk. The ravenette occasionally glanced at his companion in slight annoyance and intrigue.

Once the rambling stopped, the ghost turned to Wilbur with a downward tilt of his head, “How much money do you need?”

“That was a sudden change of subject.”

“Answer me. I think I can help.”

  “$100,000.”

  “Yen?”

Wilbur thought for a moment, “11051425.00¥”

There was yet another silence as the ghost began to brainstorm ways to get money. Wilbur let him think in silence and proceeded to surf through Instagram, laughing softly at the ‘Kirb’ memes he came across. After an awkward 15 minutes of silence, he spoke.

  “Willy?”

“Don’t call me that. What?” Wilbur set his phone down and faced his companion again.

“...I didn’t want to resort to this, but you might have to take the money.”

Wilbur’s eyes widened in shock, “Like, by force?”

The ghost nodded, “Kill if you must.”

Wilbur blinked in shock of what he was hearing. He was training to be a Hero, not a murderer. He didn’t want to kill someone just for money. The ghost seemed to know what Wilbur was thinking and offered a faint smile.

“If you don’t want to, we can find another way-”

“Can I get in and out of buildings with spirit power?” Wilbur asked, mostly to himself in regards to his original Quirk.

“Maybe. From what I have in my analysis, you would have to be possessed by a spirit.”

“You wrote an analysis on me?!”

“I write an analysis on everyone’s Quirks.” He replied.

“Creep. Ok, so if I have to be possessed,” said Wilbur, thinking out loud, “can’t you possess me? You’re a spirit, right?”

“Yeah, I am. But are you sure you want me to? You never know what I’ll do with your body.”

Wilbur glared at him, nonchalant. “You’ve been watching me since I got One for All. It’s been 6 years. I think I can trust you.”

  “You think?”

  “I know.”

“Ok then. Whatever you say.” with a slight smile, the ghost stood.

“Wait. Before you possess me, I never got your name. I think I ought to have your trust by now.”

“Really?” he stared at the ceiling in thought, “hmm… I thought you’d know by now. Either way… I’m Midoriya. Midoriya Izuku.”
