Work Text:

“So, here we are.” Solemnly, Seokjin put down his backpack on the campsite's open space.

Jimin looked around. The campsite was completely empty except for the reception hall and the shower rooms.

No wonder, he thought cynically. Who wanted to camp in such weather? There were no parking spaces for caravans.

They had been walking through the area for nearly eight hours, with Yoongi only having to unobtrusively show the way once. Everyone was soaking wet and frozen through to the bones. Luckily that they had put rain coats into the backpacks, so at least the clothes were still dry. They had learnt from previous mistakes.

“Why does that remind me of the canoe trip?" Namjoon mused darkly as they gathered in the middle of the area designated for the tents.

“I don’t know what you guys have.” Seokjin actually still looked happy.

“It has stopped raining.” He ignored the glances of his members who were now demonstratively turning their eyes upwards to the sky.

“It’s only drizzling. We'll set up the tents now, then sit down under the roof terrace, eat a bite, take a hot shower, then sleep and tomorrow the sun will shine. See? Fun!”

Full of enthusiasm, he went to work.

Reluctantly, the rest of the boys followed suit - with less enthusiasm. The small tent for Jin and Taehyung was set up quickly and Taehyung was already throwing both their bags into the tent while Seokjin helped to build the five-man tent for the others.

“And what if there are bears up here?” A little worried, Jungkook looked at the dense forest that rose in front of him.

“Don’t worry, Jungkookie, we'll put you and Jimin in the middle, then nothing will happen to you.” Reassuringly, Namjoon put his arm around the youngest while Jimin snorted indignantly. But he saved every protest. He just wanted to shower, sleep and eat. He was so cold. He would rather have a bathtub filled with steaming water and fragrant foam.

After hastily eating a quick meal, everyone grabbed their backpack and went to look at the showers. I hope there is hot water at least, Jimin thought, as he carefully turned on the faucet. Squeaking, he jumped back.

“Tae, do you have warm water?” He did not even have to ask Jungkook judging by his scream. “I’m sorry.” Jimin heard his leader’s teeth clatter.

“What are we going to do now?”

“Just stand under it. A cold shower is better than nothing and then the sleeping bags are all the warmer." Taehyung evidently tried to convince himself of this thesis.

“Forget it.” Jungkook just dried himself, brushing his teeth at the surprisingly clean-looking sink and then left in his pyjamas to find his cozy sleeping bag.

Jimin stepped under the icy stream of water and and whined in discomfort before he quickly washed himself. Trembling, the two men shortly thereafter started the way back to the tent.

“Of course, the others are already done. Maybe Namjoon has already pre-warmed my sleeping bag.” With hope in his voice, Taehyung wished Jimin a good night and immediately disappeared into the tent when they reached it while Jimin quickly made it to his, realizing that the other boys were already in their sleeping bags. His own placed between Jungkook and Yoongi.

Of course, he thought wryly.

His teeth were clattering so much that all he wanted was to get into his sleeping bag. The conflict with Yoongi, who on closer inspection was not even one, had just become irrelevant. Ever since the older had walked in on Jimin and Taemin in close proximity and dragged the cotton-candy haired boy away in jealousy, the tension between the two members was almost unbearable. Nobody was ready to talk about how inappropriate Yoongi’s jealousy was. And Jimin being the petty person he was hated how the elder was not able to admit his feelings. But then again, Jimin was not ready either.

He squeezed in between the object of his desire and the youngest of the group and pulled the fabric up to cover the tip of his nose.

“You're already sleeping?” His voice was muffled since he had hid his head inside the sleeping bag as much as possible.

“How when your clattering teeth could raise a dead man from his grave?”, Hoseok grunted and turned around.

“Didn’t have any warm water?” Namjoon's voice sounded sleepy, but a little more compassionate.

“Yes, I showered super hot so that's why I'm so filled with such warmth,” Jimin said dryly, but he got no answer. Traitors, Jimin thought contemptuously and tried to curl up even more, and then there was a soft rustling behind him as he felt Yoongi's arm tightening around him. Immediately, the clattering of his teeth stopped.

“What are you doing?” he asked as quietly as possible. His body tensing involuntarily.

“What does it look like?” He whispered quietly back as well and pulled Jimin with his sleeping bag close to his body. Jimin felt Yoongi’s breath on his neck and immediately goose bumps covered his skin. But that had little to do with the cold.

Yoongi made no move to withdraw his arm and, gradually, Jimin relaxed in his arms.

Jimin woke up very early the next morning.

His shoulders were aching uncomfortably, as if he had spent the night rolling over rocks. On second thought, that was probably true. He was about to find a more comfortable sleeping position when he noticed the warm arm that had wrapped itself around his waist.

He froze.

Oh my god, he thought. Then he had indeed not dreamed. He lay in a tent, nestled close to Yoongi, and beside them, their members slept.

He felt his hyung’s steady breath brushing his ear and his slim body pressed tightly against Jimin’s back. Jimin found himself thinking that he would love to keep on sleeping like this. Safe in Yoongi's arms, sheltered by the tent and with the pleasant warmth he radiated.

Jimin was appalled by himself. What was he doing?

Slowly, he reached for Yoongi’s hand, lifted it gently, and moved slowly out from under her. He created a safe distance of several centimeters between himself and the sleeping boy. Fuck, he was his brother! He practically grew up with the older one and the amount of times Yoongi had seen him crying on the bathroom floor because of his body was embarrassing.

Yoongi felt exactly how Jimin freed himself from his embrace. He tried to breathe evenly so as not to embarrass the younger. But as soon as he slipped to the side, Yoongi wanted to move to pull Jimin back against his chest, but he controlled himself.

Jimin had probably fallen asleep again, because he woke up when Seokjin opened the zipper of their tent with a jerk.

“Good morning”, he shouted cheerfully into the tent, whereupon he received only sleepy grunts as answer.

“Do you still remember what I said yesterday? How I said the sun will be shining today? And guess what. Tada!”

He threw the tarpaulin aside and bright sunshine lit the five figures in their sleeping bags.

“How do we deserve this?” Namjoon scrambled out of his corner and, with his toothbrush in his hand, squeezed past his hyung.

Jimin yawned and stretched. Next to him Yoongi rolled around, which immediately made him froze. Carefully, he looked over at him.

“Morning, Jiminie."

Jimin was relieved, apparently, he had forgotten yesterday's I-am-pulling-my-friend-very-close-to-me action. Good.

“Morning.” He yawned cutely again, poking gently into Jungkook’s sleeping bag. Earning a kick. He grinned.

That evening, they were all sitting around a campfire. The tents were set up and read to be slept in again, they already had their pyjamas on, and the stomachs were getting slowly filled thanks to the sausages and corncobs they roasted in the fire.

Jimin touched his arms. He had, like he had expected, two big blue bruises on his arms where he had caught himself before he could fall a few feet down a particularly shaky tree. Blame Jungkook, that brat.If he hadn’t challenged him to a climbing match this would have never happened. Never again!

Jimin looked up and met Yoongi's sympathetic eyes.

“Does it hurt a lot?” His eyes wandered over his arms.

“It’s alright. I won’t be doing that again though. We can’t have this pretty face covered in scratches”

Yoongi nodded, chuckling.

Jungkook dug out his camera with the words “this is for me and ARMY”. Jimin could not help but to giggle in adoration at the youngest.

Yoongi’s faint smile stretched further when he heard Jimin giggle and as much as he had hated the idea of going camping when Seokjin first asked them, he just felt so thankful for the cotton candy-haired boy next to him and all the other men sitting around the fire. They were Yoongi’s family. And so, he did not complain when everyone was instructed to pose. Of course silly pictures were taken and melodic laughs were the result.

“Jimin, Yoongi! I don’t have any of you two. Cuddle up, Hyungs!” Jungkook gestured in the air until his instructions were followed.

Slowly, Jimin and Yoongi slipped toward each other. His laugh had died down, instead, butterflies erupted in Jimin’s stomach ... No! They were not butterflies! It was an uncomfortable feeling and nothing more.

“Not so tense. Smile!” Jungkook pressed the trigger, ”You can do better.”

Yoongi put his arm around the younger and pulled him close. Automatically a smile lit up Jimin's face.

The camera went off.

Satisfied, Jungkook put the camera away and they sat together for a while before they brushed their teeth and finally disappeared into the tents.

Jimin was lying in his sleeping bag next to Yoongi and again he could not fall asleep.

But this time it was not the cold that kept him from doing so. He was caught up in thoughts. His mind was a mess, messier than Jungkook’s room and that said a lot. What was wrong with him? He asked himself that question again and again. However, he did not find an answer. He did not want to find an answer.

He did not know how long he lay awake when suddenly there was a rustling behind him. Like the night before, Yoongi's arm wrapped around his waist and pulled him close. Very close.

“I'm not cold,” Jimin whispered despite his coarse throat, cursing himsef for the sentence the next moment.

“I know,” Yoongi whispered, pulling him even closer to his chest.

Jimin rested his head on Yoongi’s arm and his stomach erupted in butterflies.

Because yes, they were butterflies.

Jimin was awakened by the soft voices around him the next morning.

He grunted unwillingly and snuggled deeper into the pleasant warmth of his sleeping bag, which nestled around her like a protective cocoon.

Only gradually did he realize that this cocoon was not his sleeping bag, but Yoongi's arms. Comfortably relaxed, Jimin cuddled closer to him and Yoongi automatically tightened his grip.

“What is going on with Jimin? Is he not okay? Maybe he caught a cold again? I shouldn’t have forced him up that tree. I’m sorry hyung,” Jungkook's voice was close to his face.

“He’s doing good. Very good actually”, was Hoseok's dry commentary.

Jimin opened his eyes and sat up hastily, Yoongi's arm slipping down his stomach and resting on his lap

“What's going on?” Yoongi asked sleepily and started to pull Jimin back to his chest.

But Jimin gave him a rough slap on the arm.

“Wake up,” he ordered harshly, and then he looked carefully at Jungkook and Hoseok. Jungkook had already turned away again and rumbled with his backpack, but Hoseok obviously watched his friends very attentively.

With a forced smile on his lips, Jimin wished him a good morning, grabbed his backpack and escaped to the showers.

Hoseok watched his roommate hurry out of the tent. If that was not an escape, he thought, not sure if he found it funny.

As usual, Hoseok had woken up before the other boys. Namjoon was still sound asleep, while Jungkook was moving slowly and Jimin ...Hoseok was sitting up to peer over Jungkook's shoulder. Jimin had slept. Snuggled close to Yoongi. He had his head in the crook of his arm and his hand crossed with his. The fingers intertwined. Yoongi's other arm had rested on Jimin's waist, as if at any time he'd be willing grab him quickly to hold on to him.

Hoseok did not know whether the other boys had noticed, but he was convinced that something was going on with his two friends. And Hoseok was curious. He was almost dying from curiosity. But Yoongi refused to tell him anything and Jimin…Jimin usually just blushed and whined “hyuuuuuung” whenever Hoseok tried to figure out why he had once again fallen asleep in Yoongi’s studio instead of his own bed. And Hoseok would know considering he was sharing a room with Jimin.

Hoseok was abruptly torn from his thoughts when Yoongi sat up groggily and rubbed a hand over his eyes. Then he looked around searchingly.

“He got up and probably left to the washroom. He was in a hurry,” Hoseok said, trying to spot a neutral mine as Yoongi's gaze rested thoughtfully on his face.

“I’m gonna get up too, you try your luck with Namjoon. It’s like he’s dead” Hoseok did not show any thoughts he had had previously and Yoongi seemed relieved, his attention shifting to Namjoon and Jungkook, who just pulled his water bottle out of the backpack.

At the last second Hoseok fled, with his belongings, from the tent. He grinned when he heard Namjoon's creative curses and Jungkook's sonorous laughter.

But he had not forgotten Yoongi and Jimin. He would keep an eye on them.
