Work Text:

It had been so long since the last time Iida could remember that Deku had thoroughly hurt himself like this, hurt himself so bad that he needed two of Recovery Girl's kisses and a day of bed rest.

Easy to say that it made Iida distraught when he received the news that Deku was in the nurse's station, he dropped everything and ran there. He was only thankful that where he was at wasn't far from the campus.

When Iida arrived at the nurse's station, he was directed to a small room that smelled of antiseptic and lemons. The curtains were open and so were the windows, a gentle breeze was blowing. Midoriya was on the small hospital bed with his left arm in thick a navy cast. His eyes were closed and his cheeks were pale making his many freckles stand stark.

Iida's feet were glued to the floor, all he could do was stare open mouthed at his boyfriend who had somehow managed to nearly kill himself again.

“He'll be alright, don't you worry.” Recovery Girl shuffled past him and over to Deku, she felt his forehead. “He was just ‘goofing off’,” She waved her hand at nothing with a small huff. “And managed to get hit by a bus.”

“H-hit by a bus?” Iida sputtered.

“But he'll be fine, at least he's not in here for wrecking his body with his own quirk.” Recovery Girl shook her head. "We might have to issue him his own bed here if he keeps this up. He's lucky to have friends like you to wait while he wakes up," She gave Iida a smile and walked back around the bed and to the door. "He should be fine for now, but fetch me if anything odd happens."

"Thank you, I will." Iida nodded. He had a deep respect for Recovery Girl, the ability to heal was such an underrated quirk and many looked past it in favour of ones like strength. Strength was respectable too of course, but anyone could get strong with enough time and training, no one could learn how to heal.

With a sigh Iida looked down at Deku, he shook his head and moved to a small wooden chair under the window. It was uncomfortable but he wanted to be near Deku when he awoke, it's what any good friend and boyfriend would do. And Iida prided himself on being both Deku's friend and his boyfriend.

The sun shone through the windows and gave the room a halo of sorts of soft sunlight, if it weren't for the fact that he was in a hospital room and that Midoriya was injured, Iida would've thought the aura quite peaceful. He stood up and picked up his chair, he placed it down closer to the bed and sat down again.

Now a more comfortable distance away, Iida reached out and grabbed Deku's hand. It was warm, his hands were always warm. With his other hand, he traced over the various scars on the back of Deku's hand and his wrist.

Sometimes Deku amazed Iida, he was brave and strong, and one of the nicest people that he had ever met. But what really amazed him was the fact that he was always getting hurt, the boy was danger-magnet and didn't even know it.

"Hey, Tenya.."

Iida snapped out of his thoughts and looked up, Midoriya was awake and smiling softly. He quickly stood up from the tiny chair, "Midoriya, are you okay? Professor Aizawa told me that you had been hurt and I came here as quickly as I could."

"I'm fine really," Deku shrugged the best he could with his arm in a cast. He laughed softly and looked away for a moment. "I'm sorry that I scared you."

"You're fine? Well good," Iida sighed and pushed up his glasses. "Then I won't feel bad about lecturing you! Midoriya what even were you thinking? What caused you to get hit by a bus?"

"I-It's not like I wanted to get hit! It's just- there was a cat in the road, Tenya! What was I supposed to do?"

"You.. You ran into traffic to save a cat." Iida said slowly.

"I thought I could beat it, I really did, but at least the cat is okay." With a sigh Deku let his head fall back onto his pillow. "At least I'm not too banged up.. I'm just really tired."

Iida stayed quiet for a moment, then he leaned down and kissed the top of Deku's head. "Midoriya, here is another time that you have amazed me with your reckless kindness, an ability that only true heros have."

Deku's face lit up with a heat and he smiled softly, he leaned up and placed a kiss to Iida's lips. "Th-Thanks.. I could tell you the same thing, you probably rushed over here to see me when you heard I was here."

"Of course I did!"

Deku laughed, his smile only growing. With some difficulty he scooted over in the bed and patted the space besides him. "Well sit down for a bit then, that chair that you were in doesn't look too comfy."

"I just can't sit in the bed with you, Midoriya, a hospital bed is only meant for one at a time. It would be against the rules." Iida shook his head. "And I wouldn't want to get in trouble and then be told to leave because of it."

Deku looked around, "Well.. I don't see a sign anywhere saying that you can't sit in the bed with me. Plus some love would really hurrying along my healing."

Iida bit his lip as a gentle blush creeped up his neck, "I suppose if it's to help you heal then…" With that he took off his shoes and got in the bed besides Deku who immediately snuggled up to him. "Perhaps it will make me feel better too, I was really worried about you, you know."

Deku gave a soft frown and rested his head on Iida's chest, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you, that's the last thing I wanted to do." He sighed and buried his into Iida's shirt.

Iida wrapped his arm around Deku, "No, it's okay. I don't want you to beat yourself up about it. I'm always going to worry about you, Midoriya- ever since Tensei.. Well I've started to worry a lot more."

Deku stayed quiet for a second, "That's understandable, I know how you feel, Tenya. I worry too. But since I know how it feels to really be worried, I don't ever want you to be worried when you don't have to be." He leaned up and gave Iida a kiss. "But you don't have to worry now, everything's alright, really." He smiled and with his uninjured hand, cupped Iida's cheek.

"Yeah," Iida smiled, his arm wrapping around Deku's waist. "I suppose you're right, but Midoriya if you ever do something to get yourself hurt like this I won't know what I'll do." He shook his head and placed a kiss to Deku's forehead.

"If it makes you feel any better I'll start taking the train and not the bus."

And there was silence for a moment before they both flew into a fit of giggles.
