Chapter Text
Aizawa was never really one to move quickly outside of a battle. However ever since he read his email this morning he’d been running completely on adrenaline. He practically ran down the hallway and to the observation room to see if the report was true, if she was back. There at the window stood All Might, Midnight, Present Mic and a few other UA teachers. On the other side of the glass was one of the leading interrogative officers. Aizawa was quick to push through the line to see.
There she was, across from the interrogator. The student that had been kidnapped in the middle of her first year of school. Uraraka Ochako. Except, she was not the same little airhead Aizawa remembered training before. Granted it had been a whole year, she had grown a little in that time. However, she sat in handcuffs absolutely smiling. Smirking and giggling at some of the questions she was being asked. Laughing at the police in front of her. Her demeanor was wild with hints of some twisted insanity. Watching her behave was just violent enough to make the entire staff uncomfortable.
After the interrogation, the staff and police sat around a table for a meeting. It was initially quiet until present mic spoke up. “What the hell happened to our student?!”
“This is not the girl we trained a year ago. Are you sure you didn’t pick up Himiko instead?” Midnight suggested.
The officer sighed holding his stack of papers “No, this is definitely Uraraka Ochako.” even he sounded disappointed. “First off, she hasn’t been afflicted with any sort of quirk. She had several DNA tests ran and this is about as real as she is. Even if it’s different, it’s how she’s choosing to act.”
“Oh god…” All Might sat back with his head in his hands.
“Second,” the officer continued “She doesn’t have any of her memories. She doesn’t show any kind of concern to get them back either. If she was afflicted with a quirk, it has done its damage. The best you could do is attempt to jog her memory with familiar things. It would help if she was able to start school and training again though we aren't sure what affect it'll have.”
“Sounds like a plan.” the principle nodded from the head of the table. “The press needs to know our students can come back, just like when Bakugou was kidnapped. She needs to resume her normal life as best as possible.”
Aizawa squinted hard “You’re right. However, you’ve seen the way she’s acting. Just like that Himiko, she could be a complete threat to all the other students. She’s dangerous and could pop off at any given moment.”
All the staff looked to the center of the table. He was right, as upsetting as it was. Similar to Toga, Uraraka was a very very clear threat even if she convinced herself she meant well. The principle looked up again. “Well, that’s where we come in.” he nodded “We have to keep a close eye on her. Make sure she makes a quick recovery without hurting anyone. You’re heroes, lets save our student, shall we?”
Midnight was the first to comply. Smiling and uncrossing her arms “Yeah, I guess that is what we do best isn’t it?”
“Even though this is going to be annoying…” Aizawa yawned.
The principle stood up in his chair feeling better than ever. “All right then! All Might, Midnight, Eraserhead you three will be the main ones watching out for her! Make sure she’s safe and everyone else is too!”
“Yes, sir!” Although, Aizawa was less enthusiastic than his cohorts.

The school was in an absolute buzz since news spread that Uraraka was going to come back. The press was of course trying to get a good look at her and so they had to sneak her onto the campus through an emergency exit. Luckily, the campus and heights alliance where completely blocked and boarded off through a gate. No one was allowed to enter or leave during school hours or after student curfew. These were necessary measures only applied for as long as it took Uraraka to get well. Initially, class 2-A thought about throwing her a party. Mina was quick to suggest it and Aizawa was quick to shut the idea down. There was no way Uraraka could handle a party in her state. The plan was to resume as normal.
“Stupid Aizawa..” Mina complained at her desk. “Uraraka deserves a welcome back party!”
“Agreed. We haven’t seen her in a whole year.” Deku nodded. Admittedly, he missed his crush more than he would openly admit. “But Eraser said she was different now. And she doesn’t have any memories!”
“Oh, boo! How different could she be? Uraraka is strong, I’m sure a party would bring it all rushing back!”
Iida decided to interrupt “I’m sure overwhelming her like that is a bad idea. We should be grateful to have her back in the first place. Who knows what those villains could’ve done.”
The class went into a quiet uproar and was almost immediately hushed when Aizawa came in. He sighed, looking more serious than he had in awhile. “Alright. Listen because I’m not repeating myself. The rescue mission was a success, as some of you know. Uraraka Ochako is back. However, she doesn’t have any of her memories. She doesn’t remember this place or any of your names, or faces. On top of that,” his eyes rolled towards the door. “She is behaving completely differently. She could hurt any of you at any given moment simply because she doesn’t know any better. Don’t overwhelm her and don’t provoke her. No training with her and no parties. Understand?” There was a whisper uproar for a minute. Mostly disbelief and hope. However when Uraraka walked in, it was silent.
Uraraka was wearing the uniform like she always had. Her hair little longer and in a ponytail. All she did was stand in front of the class and smile. It was a devilish smile that only appeared on the wicked. Her aura, the way she stood, the way her eyes peered into the souls of her classmates and picked them apart. It was obvious now more than ever that there was something incredibly amiss about it.
“Hey, I’m Uraraka Ochako.” she giggled. “I’m told you already know me though. So I’m glad to be back!” She talked like she was holding back a laugh.
Deku was the first to perk up and say something. She definitely reminded him of that weird girl from the licensing exams. “Welcome back, Uraraka!”
“Y-yeah..” kirishima joined. “Welcome back!”
The class erupted into a parade of ‘welcome back’ as she walked to her seat. Iida felt incredibly uncomfortable with her behind him. As if she could stab him at any moment even though he was completely safe. At least this was only temporary. Hopefully. The morning went by smoother than they thought. She seemed to retain all of the teaching and studies she had learned and picked up quickly on the new ones. It made at least that part easy. At lunch the girls made a point to sit with her and try to get her used to the swing of things. Despite how it felt to be around her, they had to look around it to bring her back-if possible.
Uraraka kicked her legs while she ate. Her eyes darting around to observe every person in the room almost. Finally, Momo was the one with enough confidence to break the silence “So! How does it feel to be back? I know you don’t really remember much.”
“It’s kind of weird!” her eyes alone could’ve ripped Momo apart “I don’t remember any of this but it feels familiar!”
“Oh, yeah, I’m sure it’ll come back to you!” Yaoyorozu prayed that would be soon.
Ochako bit down on her fork over and over looking to the corner of the room “Who was the kid with green hair? He was cute!”
“You mean Deku?” Mina choked out. “You used to have a huge crush on him!”
“Don’t lie like that..”Tsu interjected.
Uraraka blushed and smiled like a little girl. It would’ve been cute if she had bothered to blink “Do you think he likes fighting?”
“Ah…what?” Mina tilted her head.
“I wanna fight him! He honestly looks pretty weak, but he’d look so much cuter covered in bruises!” She had to try not to use her quirk on her face while holding her cheeks “O-or maybe he’d like to to have me all cut and bruised! I’d be so embarrassed with my insides showing like that!”
The table completely went silent. No wonder she wasn’t allowed to train with them, she’d probably kill them thinking it was an act of love. Uraraka took the fork she had and began to play with it dangerously. Using the surface to poke at her cheek, inching closer to her eye “I bet he would! Don’t you think so?”
“Maybe..maybe not?” Jirou watched the fork with some of the most tension she had in her life. “Maybe you should try talking to him first. From a distance.”
“ Hnn..maybe. O-oh! I know!” She took the fork and began poking at her neck. Ochako was in a weird way, happier than she had ever been before. “I should write him a love letter!”
“Sure! Just make sure you let us read it before you give it to him. You don’t wanna give him something weird.” Hagakure nodded.
“Weird? Why would it be weird? And Why do you need to see it? That’s personal stuff!” Ochako was now dead staring at Toru who made the mistake of provoking her. She leaned over the table somehow looking to the invisible girls soul “Do you like him?!”
“N-no! It’s not like that!”
“Good!” There was a loud clang as the metal fork was stabbed deep into the wood table. All while the brunette never lost eye contact “I was almost gonna have to figure out if your blood was invisible too. But since you don’t like him that isn’t a problem is it?”
“N-no its...It’s not a problem..” Hagakure honestly thought she was going to faint. This was way more intense than Aizawa had ever explained to them before. It was also signifigantly worse than any of them could’ve imagined. How the hell where they supposed to bring their adorable cute friend back from actual insanity?
--
Later in the day, Ochako wasn’t even allowed to witness hero training for all the right reasons. Deku had been assigned to walk her back to the dorms and make sure she made it safe. Even though he was scared for his life after Momo warned him, he still couldn’t unsee the cute girl he had fallen so hard for. Once she recovered, he had every intention of asking her to be his girlfriend. Even if it might be a while.
The two walked by a groove of trees on the way back to the dorms when Uraraka ultimately stopped in her tracks “Hey, Deku-kun..”
“Hm?” He turned, still sure to keep a good distance “what is it?”
“I don’t have a lot of memories but...I remember you!”
“Do you?!” He perked up with a wide smile. Although that smile was compromised quickly when watching Uraraka pull a kitchen knife out of her bag. She slowly approached him, backing him into the trees where they couldn’t be seen. “What uh...do you remember?”
“I remember I loved you!” She laughed. “I wanted to be just like you! I thought of you every time I felt adrenaline!” The knife was pointed right at his chin “I was obsessed with you! Oh, this is so embarrassing but my heart is beating so fast!”
This was nothing like the love confession he imagined. Right now, he had to try and talk her down from slicing him up. “You d-did huh? So..W-what’s with the knife?”
“Oh this?” She giggled like it was a toy. “I just was thinking about how cute you used to be! But I think you’d be so much cuter all cut up Deku-kun! You know with your blood covering you clothes and helpless on the ground! Or that maybe I could take your eyes so you can only look at me from now on! Or better yet!” suddenly, she pointed the blade directly at her own pupil. I could take one of yours and you can have one of mine! That way we’re always apart of each other!”
“Hey now! Hey!” He was quick to grab her wrist. He needed something to divert her attention, anything. Think think think! “You know, you looked up to someone else too!”
“No, It was only you!”
“Hear me out! There really was! It was Bakugo!” he panicked. The slight curiosity in her crazed eyes let him continue. “You two fought at the sports festival! I can show you, you really looked up to him a lot!” He realized this meant he was making Bakugo a potential target for her, but there was no way she could ever phase him no matter how violent. Besides it would immediately divert her attention just long enough to get to safety. Uraraka allowed him to pull out his phone so he could show her the video of their sports festival fight.
Luckily, she was completely absorbed. Every move Katsuki made of the screen seemed to draw her attention in further and further. She gasped watching herself collapse and Kacchan be named victor. Deku took a deep breath as she pointed the knife away from herself. “S-see! After this, you really started to look up to Kacchan.”
“Kacchan..” she repeated the name once before the video ended “I-I remember that-the feeling i mean..I lost that fight.I really thought I could win against him...”
“Yeah, I know I couldn’t win either..but-”
“Deku-kun?”
“Hm?”
All the sudden, Izuku found himself at knife point again. Uraraka was smiling the kind of grin that should only be seen in the seventh circle of hell. Her face red and damn near sweating. The way her legs her shaking made her look aroused by the video. She was panting and biting her lip until it was bleeding “Don’t ever get in the way of me and Kacchan ever again do you understand!?”
“What?! What did I do?!” Izuku was more confused now more than ever, but there was only so much her could do while he was about to be murdered.
“The only reason I liked you was because I forgot how I’m madly in love with Kacchan! But..you can help me.” the blade was hardly giving the green haired kid any room to breathe. “You’re gonna help me be alone with him! I wanna..I wanna fight him like that again! I want him to blast me to all hell until I can’t move! Or maybe I can knock him out so hard he’ll lose a tooth! And then I can keep it- Maybe I'll knock all of them out and collect them! Oh god, I'd love to have a part of him that that-”
Izuku could not believe what he was hearing. No warning in the world could put a label how absolutely psychotic Uraraka was. How did this happen? What happened to that sweet girl he met a year ago? Why was she so violent? As much as he wanted answers, Uraraka was getting dangerously close to cutting his ear clean off his face. “But Aizawa said you’re not allowed to fight yet!”
“ARE YOU TRYING TO KEEP ME AWAY FROM THE LOVE OF MY LIFE?!” She was strong enough to stab a clean hole through the wall behind them, ultimately giving Deku a haircut. The only person he had ever seen that angry before was Katsuki on a bad day. “Fine! I’ll just kill you now and get to him myself!”
“No that’s not necessary!” He grabbed her wrist once again to fight her stabbing him for real this time “I’ll do it! I’ll get you two alone! I swear! Aizawa won’t find out! Please Uraraka!”
“That’s what I wanted to hear.” Finally, she backed up. As if that, never happened, she began giggling that chaotic little giggle. “Make sure he meets me outside the dorms tonight. Oh, it’s so romantic! I have to find out what to wear!” She skipped happily to the dorms by herself.
Izuku felt almost as shaken as he was from fighting stain. Maybe he shouldn’t have dragged Katsuki into this. He had to wonder if anything she was feeling was real. If she truly did have a crush on Bakugou after all this time then did she have a crush on him before she was kidnapped too? Even though it was absolutely insane, Deku couldn’t help but be a little heart broken from having to help his best friend and crush get together. Bakugo did not care about romance so it wouldn’t work out. Still, the sting of jealousy sat deep in him. Did her really want Uraraka to be that obsessed with him instead? Even if he did, he told himself all her had to do was wait for Kacchan to dump her. Then he could help her get her memories and personality back and it would be fine.
