“That's not—”
“Huh?”
“That's salt.” Ryuunosuke sighed as he tried his hardest not to let the knocking of sleep take over his system.
Atsushi only started at the container as his half-lidded eyes tried their best to read the labels—but alas, the drowsiness of 2:00 am with no amount of sleep at all made him regret ever suggesting they do this.
It wasn't his fault, though. It was majorly Ryuunosuke's since they planned a movie night that lasted until 11:00 pm, and he suggested they drink some coffee because they apparently ran out of tea. The caffeine invaded their systems as they laid down in their bed. Post-fuck. Only in their boxers as their discarded clothes lay on the floor, with a flimsy blanket draped over their bodies. The buzzing of Atsushi's ears rang louder than the roar of their fan fighting off summer time heat. Ryuunosuke's arms were around his waist as he nuzzled into his chest, letting the thoughts run wild as he stirred and stirred.
Apparently, he cracked.
“Hey, Ryuu?” His voice was merely a whisper, but he was pretty sure his boyfriend felt it more than hearing it since he practically whispered it on his neck. Ryuunosuke's neck is sensitive, he knew that well enough.
To his surprise, his boyfriend hummed in response.
“I can't sleep.”
“Uh-huh.”
Ryuunosuke was obviously more grounded to caffeine than he will ever be, but Atsushi couldn't sleep, and he needs his boyfriend to be as awake as he is.
“I'm bored.”
“We'll fuck in the morning.” That earned him a light slap on the chest. Half-asleep Ryuunosuke had no filter whatsoever, he should've kept that in mind before saying anything.
“That's not what I meant.” He chuckled, moving out of his embrace into a sitting position.
“Go to sleep then.”
“C'mon Ryuu, I'm bored.”
“Mhm.”
“And I can't sleep.”
“Uh-huh.” Atsushi huffed as he laid on top of Ryuunosuke's stomach that was covered by the blankets. (Mind you, he was naked underneath save from his boxers.)
“If you don't get up, I swear—” Ryuunosuke opened one eye and stared down at Atsushi.
“What?” He closed his eyes.
Atsushi smirked, sliding his hands underneath the blanket and tickling Ryuunosuke's sides. The latter erupted in laughter as he trashed and threw his body to avoid Atsushi's fingers gliding across his torso. Then there was laughter in the air—contributed by the two of them. Their neighbors would've been woken up (not that it wasn't an unusual occurance that the couple woke up their neighbors, they had thin walls and oh so little restraint) by their fits of laughter, and yet Atsushi didn't feel like stopping, and Ryuunosuke didn't feel like he needed to stop him.
When they both calmed down, Ryuunosuke was as much awake as he was. Or at least, he tried.
The dim light from the moon made it past their curtains as it illuminated Ryuunosuke's face down to his neck. His skin always looked translucent when the moon decided to make home on it. Right now, it was flush and reddish from all the laughing and trashing around. And it looked like it needed to be touched. Or maybe he'd lean in for a kiss later. Or maybe not. Ryuunosuke groaned as he put an arm over one of his eyes and opened the other, looking up to Atsushi.
“So,” Ryuunosuke said in a raspy voice that made Atsushi want to slap him left and right just so he could knock off the sleepy facade and be as restless as he is supposed to be. “What do you plan to do to eradicate this boredom of yours?”
“Except tickling you?”
“Except tickling me.” Ryuunosuke confirmed, sitting up and letting the blanket fall down and expose his naked torso. Marks from a few hours ago are still as evident as the ones littered on Atsushi's thighs. When Ryuunosuke kissed him, he was always sure to leave marks, not that he was against that since he, too, did that.
His boyfriend ran his fingers into his hair, yawning as he did so. Atsushi took his time to take in the sight. Not that he wasn't used to it. There were many occasions where you need to be used to one's overwhelmingly pretty features to avoid combusting on sight, and these were always those instances. Post-fuck. His skin luminous under the moonlight as if he'd swallowed all the stars and let them live in his stomach. Raw. And naked.
Atsushi kissed him, smiling into his lips. “What?” Ryuunosuke asked him in between the kisses, eyes still closed.
“Carry me to the kitchen.”
“You're heavy.” Atsushi kissed him and bit his lower lip in the process, making his boyfriend hiss.
“Carry me to the kitchen.” He said again as he wrapped his arms around his neck and moved to sit on his thighs. Ryuunosuke sighed defeatedly, scooting a little as he put his hands on Atsushi's thighs and lifted him, standing up from the bed. His movements dragged on as he struggled his way into the kitchen, putting down Atsushi on the counter.
It was 1:45 am. And they were both awake as ever.
“Now what?” Ryuunosuke's voice was still rough from sleep. So Atsushi did the only thing that was acceptable in that situation.
He kissed him. Hard, and fast. And awake. Biting. Bruising. First Ryuunosuke's lips, then to his jaw, down to his neck—and as usual, that spot made him the loudest. Ryuunosuke didn't hesitate to groan into the contact, gripping the back of Atsushi's head, silver hair tucked tight into the gaps of his fingers.
“Atsushi.” Ryuunosuke moaned, sliding his hands down to Atsushi's body, onto the small of his back, fingers lingering on the waistline of his boxers. “Atsushi.”
Atsushi moved lower onto his collar bones, nipping at his chest. His hands grabbed on Ryuunosuke's back, nails burying into skin, overlaying with earlier scratches. Atsushi was always eager to leave more, and Ryuunosuke was always eager to receive them anyway.
“Ryuunosuke.” Atsushi said in the kind of voice Ryuunosuke couldn't handle hearing. Without another word, he grabbed both of Atsushi's wrists in one hand and pinned him on the counter, back against cold marble. He leaped on to straddle him and leave kisses down Atsushi's jaw to the that one spot just below his earlobe that made him erupt—his nails scratching Ryuunosuke's back as his kisses moved lower and lower onto his stomach—not missing out on his scars—then to his thighs. Atsushi couldn't do anything but trash around and grab for anything as Ryuunosuke bit and sucked and kissed all around his thighs, not missing a spot.
Atsushi didn't complain. He loved it when his skin turns into a bare canvas, and Ryuunosuke's kisses were paint. And he was always sensitive to whatever Ryuunosuke's plans were with his thighs—but whatever it was, it made him moan, and catch his breath, it made him want to grab hold onto anything close to him. Something that would make it feel less like he's spiraling down into oblivion.
And he did.
He grabbed on a box. When he moved his hand to take a look at it, he quickly forgot the fact that Ryuunosuke was sucking on his inner thigh and is probably enjoying it and just sat up, kneeing Ryuunosuke's face in the process.
“What the fuck?” He hissed as he grabbed onto his nose.
Atsushi quickly apologized. “I'm sorry, I just—”
“What? Do you not want to fuck?” That gained him a laugh.
“Didn't you say we should do that in the morning instead?” Atsushi said in a matter of factly. “Besides, look what I found!”
Ryuunosuke groaned. The annoyed kind. “What?”
Atsushi beamed as he showed him what he grabbed onto. “It's a cake mix! I bought it earlier this week, I think? Didn't I tell you I wanted to make cake?”
“Okay?”
“What do you mean, okay?” Atsushi hopped off the counter as fetched a bowl. “Let's make cake!”
Ryuunosuke rolled his eyes. “Or we could just do the do and be spent enough to sleep it off.”
Atsushi considered it. “Touché,” he remarked as he opened a drawer, grabbing a wooden spoon. “But I'd rather bake a cake, then do the do.”
Ryuunosuke knew he didn't stand a chance.
Now, it was 2:34 am. And sleep was finally knocking on their systems. But the cake batter was yet to be mixed, and the pans were yet to be greased, and Atsushi just added salt instead of sugar. So yes, it was going great.
“I'm not eating this.” Ryuunosuke said, leaning his head on Atsushi's shoulder, hands sliding into his hoodie's pockets (that was probably gonna be Atsushi's soon) that Atsushi picked up from the kitchen stool earlier and decided to wear. “Can't we just sleep?”
“No.” Atsushi yawned as he tried fixing his error by adding more sugar. “Besides, you still have a pan to grease.”
Ryuunosuke groaned as he moved away to fetch the pan and the butter. “How do I even do this?” He asked as he peeled the butter's wrapper off. Atsushi only looked at him for three seconds, then he was yawning again, then his eyes were back on his.
“You just, I don't know, butter it?”
“And if it goes completely wrong?” Ryuunosuke raised an eyebrow.
“At least you tried.” Atsushi shrugged.
“And if I don't want to try?” Ryuunosuke's brow went higher.
“I'll kiss you if you try.” Atsushi pointed on his lips that he pouted for a more graphic expression.
Ryuunosuke only rolled his eyes. Again. Rolling his eyes were a necessity when dealing with Atsushi in general. Which was, to say, something he was already used to, and something he'll always do. Ryuunosuke found his waist again and gave him a kiss—one that lingered for a only a few seconds, the kind that makes him want more. But it was gone before it lingered.
“I'll do my best.” He said as he let out a yawn, rubbing the butter onto the pan. His fingers were all buttery now, so his thoughts only paved way into one thing: Ryuunosuke scooted towards Atsushi (who was still invested into the cake batter that probably tastes like damnation) and cupped his face, kissing him as he slid his butter stained hands down to Atsushi's neck. The latter let out a squeal that broke the kiss entirely, but Ryuunosuke was already laughing as Atsushi took off the hoodie, running to the sink and washing his face.
“That's not fair!” He said as he scrubbed his oily cheeks. “Now I'm all slippery.”
For a few moments, there was silence. Like the calm before the storm. Like the sinking in of an innuendo until they both realized that and snorted at the same time, quickly erupting into sleep-dazed laughter and drowsy giggles.
“Stop laughing!” Atsushi said between giggles. The faucet dripped with water as he fished a towel from the counter, Ryuunosuke's laugh still reverberating around the air.
“It's not my fault you're an idiot!” Atsushi ignored him, pouring the batter (that probably tastes like damnation) into the pan. Ryuunosuke moved too and preheated the oven, then they waited.
And by waited, they meant kissing over and over again as Atsushi hummed sleepily. When the oven dinged, he quickly pushed it in and he sat on the counter, leaning onto Ryuunosuke's chest as he stood before him.
“Hey,” Ryuunosuke started.
“Hmm?”
“I love you.” Atsushi's mind raced back to the part where Ryuunosuke's half-asleep state was unfiltered. When he realized his boyfriend was dozing off again, he quickly shook him, catching his lips with his own.
“Hey, don't fall asleep while you're standing.” He said, albeit being drowned by sleep as well, he ran his hands up and down Ryuunosuke's naked back, smiling as he did so.
Ryuunosuke hummed. “Is the stupid cake baked yet?”
“Only a few minutes left.”
“I love you, Atsushi.” He said again, in between a yawn. “Even when you're stupid.”
“I think you love me because I'm stupid.” Atsushi yawned back.
“Is it baked yet?”
“No.”
Atsushi only laughed at his reaction when the oven dinged, signifying that the cake has been baked. Ryuunosuke's eyes darted open, as if he willed himself to stay awake much longer. He quickly grabbed the oven mitts and drew the cake out.
“You seem excited.” Atsushi pointed out as he pushed the cake pan away from Ryuunosuke, covering it and taking a mental note to just eat it in the morning.
“Excited to sleep.” He said, kissing Atsushi's hair as he wrapped his arms around him again.
Atsushi only giggled as Ryuunosuke leaned into his back. There was nothing else he could do before his boyfriend eventually falls asleep while standing, so he took up the back of his thighs and summoned all his strength to lift him up in a piggy back ride (which wasn't quite hard because Ryuunosuke wasn't much heavier than he was) to their room. Tucking himself into his arms again.
When Ryuunosuke's breath started to even out and sounded like he was about to fall asleep, he whispered onto his neck again. “Hey, Ryuu?”
Ryuunosuke was too sleepy to make out a coherent sentence, but he hummed in acknowledgement.
“I love you.”
Ryuunosuke didn't say anything else, just wrapped his arms tighter around Atsushi's waist and kissed the top of his head.
Now it was 4:39 am. And Atsushi slept with a smile on his face, contented with their 2 am shenanigans.
(They'll still fuck in the morning, though.)
