It had been a really long day for Sayaka, being the secretary’s student council was actually tiresome even if there had been some advantages including being around her girlfriend almost all day long. Still it was hard to stand next to her for most of her day without being able to show some affection, they both were still hiding their relationship being quite new. Indeed it had only been some months they had started to date and they had both agreed to stay discreet before letting the school know.
To be honest with herself, Sayaka only waited for Kirari’s approval because she didn’t care about anyone but her in school. Of course she didn’t thought about telling to her family, she had no idea how they would react, maybe Kirari was a girl but still she was not from any family but from the Momobami clan. Of course it didn’t matter for Sayaka but it could have a great impact in her family’s view. Well they were not there yet.
Kirari had been weird all day and Sayaka couldn’t think of a reason that would change her girlfriend that much. Her girlfriend. Sayaka blushed at the thought, she still wasn’t used to it. Her mind went back to what she was thinking, Kirari was weird and she needed to know why.
Of course she couldn’t just talk to her while everyone was around, she had to find a way to be alone with her. She was thankful to be the secretary, it gave her great excuses to talk to her in private. She went the faster she could without running to the student council room to find the President talking with Runa. She decided to stay behind and wait for them to be over. It took about 10 minutes before the girl left the room and she stepped in, closing the door behind her.
The platinum hair girl didn’t flinch at all, it was just like if Sayaka wasn’t there. Starting to get frustrated she got closer to Kirari until she was only a feet apart.
“ Are you okay ? You don’t seem as usual today.”
The other girl’s eyes met hers and for a moment she just didn’t recognized her anymore.
“ Yes I am okay, thanks for worrying for me.”
Sayaka was becoming really frustrated by her behavior. She thought Kirari actually trusted her but there her walls were in front of her and she couldn’t reach her.
She just took her lover’s face and kissed her tenderly. The other girl had no time to react it just happened really quickly.
“ What the fuck ?”
The reaction was unexpected to say the last. Sayaka knew they were at school but the look on Kirari’s face right now was more than just surprise she was literally shocked. Why would she even react this way. Sayaka frowned an eyebrow, not understanding what was happening.
“ Kirari are you sure you’re okay ? Can’t I kiss my girlfriend when we’re alone now ?”
“ Girl- girlfriend ?”
Oh my god what the hell was happening now, she was reacting like if she had no idea they were together which was totally impossible. I mean, they had been clear from the start of their relationship they were a couple, Sayaka didn’t want to be a toy, she wanted an exclusive relationship with the woman she fell in love with and that was what she was willing to give her. Or at least she thought until now. Was Kirari amnesiac ? A thousand thoughts were running in her brain right now but the other girl just stopped them quickly.
“ Okay I think we need to talk, I need to explain something to you because I don’t want to ruin your relationship with Kirari.”
Ruin her relationship with Kirari ? The girl in front of her looked exactly like her lover and right now everything was really disturbing.
The other girl went to lock the door before going back next to Sayaka.
“ I’m sure Kirari won’t enjoy not being the one telling. She totally should have done it before so this mess wouldn’t have happened.”
“ Okay I’m sorry but I really don’t understand what’s happening right now. Does Kirari has like … schizophrenia ?”
“No, of course not, believe me it’s easier than this.”
“ So can you tell me what the fuck is happening ?”
“ I am not Kirari.”
“Yes I understood this part but who are you ?”
“ I am Ririka, Kirari’s twin sister, that’s why I always were a mask.”
“ Oh … Wow it actually makes sense but why are you both hiding this ? Oh my god does she not trust me enough to tell me ? Where is she right now ?”
“ I honestly don’t know she just told me to cover her today, she’s coming back tomorrow.”
“ Okay thanks, I guess I’ll ask my other questions to her directly tomorrow then. Thanks for clearing everything up.”
“ No problem but I’ll probably have to talk to my sister too. She at least could have warned me about you.”
Sayaka blushed thinking what she just did to her sister’s girlfriend.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry I had no idea.”
“I know that’s Kirari’s fault. Having a secret is hard but having two with two different persons at the same time, what was she thinking ?!”
The secretary nodded before leaving the room, too shocked to even know what to answer.
The day after Sayaka came earlier to talk to the President to find the two sisters already arguing. She hesitated to enter until her lover finally noticed her.
“ Sayaka come in I’m so sorry for yesterday.”
When she was looking at her like she was the 8th world’s wonder how could Sayaka even be mad at her. She couldn’t stop the smile that came in her face even if she was still angry at her. No, Sayaka was not angry, she was disappointed, disappointed that Kirari didn’t trust her.
“ I am not mad at you, honestly I’m just hurt.”
And that made Kirari’s heart shiver, she knew that she messed up, badly, but she couldn’t tell yet the reason.
“ I promise I was gonna tell you today.”
“ And you thought I wouldn’t think you were not normal yesterday ?”
“You never did before.”
Sayaka thought about this, well there were some days Kirari was weird but she never thought much of it, it wasn’t often but still.
“You know it’s not the same, you thought I wouldn’t want to kiss my girlfriend all day?”
They both blushed, Ririka that was still in the room just felt like she didn’t belong there.
“ Okay I’m just gonna leave you two lovebirds but the conversation is not over.”
She talked to Kirari before leaving the room, letting the president and the secretary on their own.
Kirari looked at Sayaka in the eyes before cupping her face.
“ You know, I really missed you yesterday.”
That brought a smile to Sayaka, Kirari rarely expressed her feelings out loud, that’s why Sayaka enjoyed it that much when she did.
“ I hate it when you’re cute while I’m trying to be mad at you.”
The girl with blue lips just smiled and took Sayaka in her arms.
“ Now you know when I don’t kiss you at least once an hour that’s not me.”
“ Is that a promise ?”
The older girl caught her lips between hers for a tender and innocent kiss.
“It could be.”
She let the other girl and searched in her pocket’s uniform until she held a little box. Sayaka thought she had a heart attack when the other girl started talking.
“That’s the reason why I was away yesterday. I had to get the ring without you knowing so I had to ask Ririka to fake being me. I know we’ve only dated for some months and I don’t expect us to be engaged really soon. Well we still can’t marry in Japan but you know we could go in Taiwan. Well what I mean is that’s not an engagement ring Sayaka, I know we’re still young but that’s a promised ring. I promise that one day, it could be in some months or in some years but I will give you this other ring and we will have this happy life together. And I also promise you to never keep a secret like that from you ever again. I swear fealty to you if you still want me after all my mistakes.”
Sayaka couldn’t keep the tears from rushing through her eyes. She just couldn’t help it, she had never expected for Kirari to do something like that for her and that would be the reason for her to keep the secret a little longer. How could she not forgive her after that?
“I’m sorry I really didn’t expect that I love you so much!”
Their lips crashed together, it tasted like tears but also like hope and happiness and that probably was their future’s taste too. Hope and happiness.
